Baylor is competing in its 12th straight and 14th all-time NCAA Tournament, as all appearances have come since head coach Kim Mulkey assumed the program s helm. BU is (.766) in NCAA Tournament play, including 13-1 in first round games, 10-3 in second round games, 6-4 in the Sweet 16, 3-2 in the Elite Eight, 2-1 in the national semifinals and 2-0 in championship games. With its victory over 18th-ranked Iowa, Baylor advances to the NCAA Championship regional finals for the second straight season, fifth time in six years and sixth time overall. No. 5/6 Baylor Takes on No. 2/2 Notre Dame in NCAA Championship Elite Eight... The fifth-ranked Baylor Lady Bears (33-3) are competing in the NCAA Championship for the fourth time in program history as one of the tournament s four No. 2 seeds. Baylor is led by sophomore forward Nina Davis 20.9 points and 8.2 rebounds a contest. Senior post Sune Agbuke ranks No. 2 on the team in rebounding at 5.9 a contest while point guard Niya Johnson hauls down 5.0 boards and dishes out a nation s-best 8.9 assists per contest. In a rematch of last year s regional final, the Lady Bears will take on head coach Muffet McGraw s top-seeded and second-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sunday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m. (CT). Notre Dame, 34-2 on the season, advanced to the Elite Eight with Friday s win over Stanford. Jewell Loyd, Brianna Turner, Lindsay Allen and Taya Reimer average double-digit scoring for Notre Dame with 20.1, 13.7, 10.4 and 10.1 points, respectively, while Turner is the squad s top rebounder at 7.7 per contest.

Head Coach), Baylor (Head Coach) 2000-present Highlights 2 national championships as a player (1981, AIAW; 1982, NCAA). 2 NCAA championships as a head coach (2005, 2012). 1 NCAA championship as an assistant coach (1988). 6 Big 12 Conference regular season titles (2005,,11, 12, 13, 14, 15); 7 league tournament championships (2005, 09, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15). Mulkey is the only women s basketball coach, and one of only three in men s and women s basketball (Bob Knight and Dean Smith), who have won a national championship as both a player and coach. Mulkey is the ONLY basketball coach to win a national championship as a head coach, assistant coach and player. HEAD COACH KIM MULKEY Success = Kim Mulkey. No matter what she s attempted in basketball, whether it be on the court or along the sideline, Mulkey has found success. In just 15 seasons as a head coach, she has attained 437 career victories and ranks No. 2 among the winningest active Division I head coaches (.831) and No. 4 alltime by percentage. Only one person, her mentor Leon Barmore, attained the 400-win milestone quicker. It took Barmore 13 seasons and three games to accumulate 400 wins, while Mulkey achieved it in 13 years and 32 games. When the Women's Basketball Hall of Famer accepted the position as Baylor University s women's basketball head coach on April 4, 2000, few could have predicted the dramatic and prestigious transformation the program was about to undergo. In just 15 years at Baylor, the former Olympic Gold medalist has twice guided the Lady Bear basketball program to the pinnacle of women's basketball, the 2005 and 2012 NCAA national championships, 14 NCAA Tournament appearances, 15, 20-win seasons, 13, 25-win efforts, six, 30-win campaigns and an NCAA record 40 wins and undefeated record in In addition, over the past 11 seasons, Mulkey has led the Lady Bears to three Final Four appearances (2005, 10, 12) and a Big 12 women s basketball record 13 Big 12 Conference titles. The 2005 national title was Baylor's first for a women's team sport, and just the second in school history overall. In winning the 2005 title, Mulkey became the first person, man or woman, to win a basketball national championship as a player, assistant coach and head coach. En route to the 2005 NCAA championship, the Lady Bears won their first Big 12 Conference championship and were the league's tournament champion, too. In 2009, the Lady Bears added to the trophy case with another Big 12 Tournament crown, claimed both the 2011 regular season and tournament crowns and captured the 2012 regular season title by a record seven games over second-place finishers Oklahoma and Texas A&M and again earned the tournament crown. The Lady Bears duplicated the feat in the season, winning both crowns, and became the first team to win three straight conference tournament titles and five all-told. In , Baylor claimed its fourth straight Big 12 regular season title becoming the first league school to achieve that feat and claimed its fourth straight and sixth overall tournament crown. The season has produced more hardware for the trophy case as BU claimed its unprecedented fifth straight and sixth overall Big 12 regular season title and claimed its fifth straight and seventh overall tournament crown. Mulkey has produced amazing results since taking over the program s reins on April 4, 2000, averaging 29.1 wins per year. In her 15 years at the program's helm, she has posted an impressive (.831) record which ranks her No. 2 nationally in winning percentage. In addition, the Lady Bear program ranks No. 5 among the NCAA Division I's winningest teams over that span. Since coming into the league in , Mulkey, a five-time Big 12 Coach of the Year, owns the top winning percentage and most victories among Big 12 coaches at 83.1 percent (437-89). Baylor secured its fifth straight 30-win season with its win over Texas in the Big 12 Championship title game. Overall, Baylor has recorded 10, 30-win seasons with six, including five straight, coming since head coach Kim Mulkey s arrival. Kim Mulkey s 33 seasons as a player and coach have resulted in 33 postseason trips, including 32 to NCAA/AIAW Tournaments. BU s 33 wins match the sixth-most in program history behind a 40-0 season in , a pair of 34-win seasons ( , ) and two 33-win campaigns ( , ). Baylor is 7-1 vs. ranked opponents this season. Nina Davis (1,308p/623r) and Sophia Young (1,084p/653r) are the only two Baylor players to record 1,000 points and 600 rebounds in their first two seasons at Baylor since the NCAA started sponsoring women s basketball. Brittney Griner totaled 1,496 points and 587 rebounds in her first two Lady Bear seasons. Niya Johnson continues to extend the Big 12 Conference s single-season assist record with 312, surpassing Kansas Angel Goodrich s mark of 250. Nina Davis has been named a finalist for the Naismith Trophy and Wade Trophy. Kim Mulkey nabbed her fifth Big 12 Coach of the Year honor. Baylor has a very young roster; with one senior, three juniors, five sophomores and three freshmen. Baylor s seven underclassmen score 78.5% (2,240 of 2,873) of its points and play 67.4% of its minutes. Baylor has outscored its opponents in the paint, 1, , this season and has only been outscored in the paint three times (at Oklahoma [22/24], vs. Texas [26/34] and vs. Iowa [26/22] ). Baylor averages 41.6 ppg in the paint while its opponents manage only 21.3 ppg. Baylor s bench has outscored opponents, , the Lady Bear bench contributes 26.7 ppg. Baylor ranks No. 8 nationally in attendance with 6,341 per contest. BU has secured its 12th straight 25-win season, a continuing school and Big 12 record. Overall, Baylor has recorded 18, 25-win seasons with 13 coming since head coach Kim Mulkey s arrival. Baylor has held opponents to 30 or fewer first-half points in 27 of 36 games this season and limited its opponent to 20 or fewer first-half points six times. BU has recorded 50 or more rebounds in 10 games this season. 150 of Baylor s 173 wins since have been by 10 or more points, and only 11 times in that span has its winning margin been five or fewer points. Baylor and Louisville are the nation s only schools ranked by the AP in football and men s and women s basketball. All-America candidate and Big 12 Player of the Year Nina Davis, a 5-11 forward/post, leads the Big 12 in scoring and is No. 17 nationally at 20.9 ppg and ranks No. 3 in the league in rebounding with 8.2 per contest. All-America candidate Niya Johnson is No. 1 nationally in assists per game at 8.9. Johnson is No. 2 nationally in assist/turnover ratio at 4.0. Johnson s career-high and Big 12 record-tying 17 assists (0 turnovers) vs. Oklahoma are the most among NCAA women (all divisions) and NCAA DI men this season. She also delivered 16 assists with no turnovers in the Sweet 16 win over Iowa. Johnson moved to No. 1 on BU s career assist chart with 657, she passed the program s career leader, Odyssey Sims ( ), with 16 dimes vs. Iowa. Johnson is on track to become the Big 12 s single-season assist average leader, the record, 7.68 apg, was set in 2006 by Iowa State s Lyndsey Medders. Johnson currently is averaging 8.9 apg. Johnson broke her own Baylor single-season assist record, she dished out 244 dimes last season and has dropped a Big 12-record 312 so far this season. Sune Agbuke, a 6-5 senior, has 182 career blocks to take sole possession of No. 3 on BU s career chart, she passed Steffanie Blackmon s ( ) 159 (see page 7 for complete chart). In her 15 seasons at the program's helm, Kim Mulkey has posted an impressive (.831) record which ranks her No. 2 nationally in winning percentage among active coaches behind UConn s Geno Auriemma (.871). In 513 of 526 games under Mulkey, the Lady Bears have held their opponent at or below 50 percent field goal shooting with only five of those efforts coming in the last 13 years. In Baylor s last 326 games, only two opponents (Stanford,.509 & West Virginia,.500) have shot 50 percent or above. In the season, the Cardinal broke BU s 217-game streak of holding an opponent to 50 percent or less shooting from the floor. Baylor is (.930) over the past five seasons, 34-3 in , 40-0 in , 34-2 in , 32-5 in and 33-3 this season. In that same span, BU is 98-5 (.952) in Big 12 play in the regular season and 15-0 in Big 12 Tournament play. Baylor is (.957) under Mulkey when scoring 70 or more points, including a (.972) record when totaling 80 or more. BU is (.980) over the last five seasons ( to ) when scoring 70 or more points. Baylor is (.920) in home games under Mulkey, including 96-2 (.980) since The Lady Bears have won 43 of their last 44 home games vs. Big 12 foes. Baylor secured its Big 12 Conference and school record fifth straight and 10th overall 30-win season. Since the arrival of head coach Kim Mulkey, Baylor has produced six 30-win campaigns. Against K-State (1/24/15), junior point guard Niya Johnson dished out nine assists to become just the second Lady Bear to reach 500 career assists. With 16 assists vs. Iowa, she moved to No. 1 on BU s career list with 657 dimes, passing Odyssey Sims ( ) four-year record of 641 assists. Lady Bears on Awards Lists...
