Some great skip bowls from s Aaron Hewson kept his side in the game early on against Mark Casey s rink. The pressure finally taking its toll and Casey ran out winner 24-14.

In the A Division it was 1st on the ladder verse 2 nd, and the scores and quality of the bowls definitely showed just that. Brett Dean and his side were in great form in their game against Chris Monk.

Stephen Piggott s rink again performing strongly, easily accounting for C. Scott s rink 23-13. Finishing it off for the Hawks was Darren Christie and side 17-12 over B. Militinos. Hawks by 11 shots.

6 AEROBOWLS PLQ Round Home Game Reports Hawks v Eagles By Anthony Kiepe Hawks DEF Eagles (3 rinks to 0) Hawks DEF Eagles (3 rinks to 1) On Saturday it was the battle of the birds, with the Hawks taking on the Eagles. It was a very tight tussle in the early stages of the game in the Premier Division. Some great skip bowls from s Aaron Hewson kept his side in the game early on against Mark Casey s rink. The pressure finally taking its toll and Casey ran out winner On the other 2 rinks, Rice and Wilkie were continuing their great run of form by accounting for Richard Strawbridge and Kurt Brown, and respectively. Brett Dean and his side were in great form in their game against Chris Monk. Winning Whilst Jason Carpenter next door scrapped home by winning his last 3 ends to record a win over M. Foster. Capalaba Comets v Pirates By Jamie Anderson Capalaba Comets DEF Pirates (2 rinks to 1) Capalaba Comets DEF Pirates (3 rinks to 1) The Comets hosted our good friends from pine rivers this week in what is usually a hotly contested affair. Back on our home deck for the first time in a while was a nice change and the start of the game was neck and neck with Robbie Wilds rink on fire and out to a early 9 shot margin over my 4, that was countered by Trevor Broadbents 4 out to a similar margin over big Alex Murtarg. Troy Makin and former international Steve Anderson were neck and neck. A rally mid way through our game with Robbie put the comets master board up by over 20 which was more than enough to get the comets across the line with Trevor's team blowing away big Al's rink by 16 shots and Troy Makins team winning the last end to seal a great 2 rink to 1 win by the comets. In the A grade it was also a fantastic result by the comets playing a pine rivers side well above them on the table. With wins on 3 out of the 4 rinks by Pup Murry, Evan Lowry and the star rink of the night Glen bugs Malone it was a great result and keeps the A grades faint hopes of making the playoffs alive and well for another week. Great job boys and girls. Thankyou Pine rivers for your company and great sportsmanship on the night guy and Capalaba wish you all the best for the rest of the season. Belmont Blaze v Bribie Island Breakers By Noel Seawright Belmont Blaze DEF Bribie Island Breakers (3 rinks to 0) Belmont Blaze DEF Bribie Island Breakers (4 rinks to 0) The Blaze welcomed the Bribie Island Breakers to our club for this week s match. A lot at stake from the outset for both teams to continue to stay in touch with the leaders. Our Premier League got off to a solid start with all three rinks either leading or only a shot or two down. Throughout the first half of the match the overall score was very close As the match neared completion the Blaze grew in confidence and their consistency of shot making saw the margin grow to a final score of, blaze 65 and the Breakers 46. All rinks performed well, in particular John Finlayson s rink ground out a one shot victory,adding an important rink win to the overall score. Premier A s jumped out of the blocks strongly setting up a healthy lead early in the match. The rinks of Gary Bradshaw, John Fern and Noel Gilbert continued to build on their early leads to finish with very strong wins. The rink skipped by Noel Seawright had a battle right form the word go. Fortunately in the latter part of the match consistency shone through with the Blaze getting home by 5 shots. Overall the Blaze ran out winners 107 to 44.

Brendan Egan had a good 10 shot victory over Ryan Bester. Michael Brown kept his rink going strong with a rink win over Ryan Burnett.

It came down to the last end with Sean getting the win by 1, and giving Kevin only his third loss of the season all just by 1 shot. The A clash saw the Bulls continue their hot winning streak.

Melissa Larcombe went down after having a good debut for Queensland against NSW a few days before.

It was a clash of near the top of the table and very important for both teams. however came to play with their leads on fire set up the pressure against the Bulls. In the rink match up of the day Sean Baker showed why he is one of the best around when he played brilliant up against an equal brilliant Kevin Anderson. It came down to the last end with Sean getting the win by 1, and giving Kevin only his third loss of the season all just by 1 shot. The A clash saw the Bulls continue their hot winning streak. Brett Cliffords rink showed they are a force to be reckoned with an 18 shot victory. Luke Day & Christina Pavlov also secured rink wins. Bramble Bay Vikings v Greenslopes Geckos By Shane Leonard Greenslopes Geckos DEF Bramble Bay Vikings (1.5 rinks all) Bramble Bay Vikings DEF Greenslopes Geckos (3.5 rinks to 1.5) Top Grade going down in what was a great match with lots of atmosphere from both teams, Alan Howard got over the line by 1 in his debut in skipping premier league, a very experience campaigner showed why he is so respected by all fellow bowlers, beating Chris Ryan. Steven Tong drew in a epic match with some world class bowls on display from both teams. Jamie Eichorn went down to Scott McLachlan who played bomb after bomb showing a great display of crunch bowls. A Grade up on three rink and drew on other keeps them in the hunt to squeeze into top 5. Sharks v Swifts Bluebirds By Steve Lowe Sharks DEF Swifts Bluebirds (2 rinks to 1) Sharks DEF Swifts Bluebirds (3 rinks to 1) Kelvin Kerkow maintained his undefeated status in the competition with a convincing 17 shot win over Des Cann from the Swifts. John Bain returned to lead for Kerkow and did not disappoint always being close to the jack. Wayne Wilson defeated Michael Bretherton by 3 shots. The turning point in this match come late in the game with Wilson holding 6 shots. Swifts skip Bretherton hit the head with a powerful drive, bowls scattering in all directions only to be down 8 shots! Jay Cross played well for the Swifts and defied a clean sweep of rinks by the Sharks with a close 2 shot victory over Australian coach Steve Glasson. Richo continues to lead very well in this Sharks team. In the A grade, Lou Beckman and team all played well for an 11 shot victory, in particular Jason Kleinhans led consistently and skip Lou Beckman regularly played big shots. In a topsy turvy game with big scores on many ends Josh Leese prevailed by 3 shots over Swifts skip Nev Linke. Dasha back to lead this week, played fantastic bowls and was backed up well by second Neil Lindbeck and third Jim Chapman. Dave Bennett and team for the Sharks put in a polished performance with an 8 shot win over Gary Ayre. The leads in this match, Cheryl Moran for the Sharks and Dave Trevor for the Swifts had a tremendous battle with each player leading brilliantly. The Swifts Arthur Brockie and team had a close battle with Sharks Laurie Sylvester s team until the mid-way in the match. The Swifts then powered away for a comfortable 12 shot victory.
