PRESIDENT S REPORT This year I have been lax in not introducing new ideas partly due to my work but also the Lions International have introduced new and exciting initiatives to grow Lions into the future. Lions want to move away from predominantly fund raising to hands on community work things like rubbish collections on beach s and river banks, road side cleaning, being involved in sight and hearing activities, the scope is endless. I know we all ready are involved with Wesley and we put in dollars for all sorts of worthy causes but we could be seen out and about doing STUFF because we can. So here is a challenge, Come up with a community project that: 1. Does not cost much. 2. Is beneficial to the community. 3. Will get us noticed. I know council do some of that but as the Largest Community based Service Club, well this month and the start of the year have been a blinder. We started with an expertly organised Car parking exercise, well done Paul and your team of merry leaders. Even though the amount of cars were down we still made a very good profit due to the amazing negotiating skills of Paul, we actually made more per car than last year. Yes there has been rumours going around that this is the last time but I have heard that for the last 4 years so it is just that a RUMOUR. Do not believe it. The two carol events at Christmas were down as well but nothing significant, I want to congratulate the VP s and their teams for the brilliant job of coordinating these two events well done and thank you. We have just finished the Australia Day Festival and from all indicators it was a roaring success. I was unfortunately unable to attend due to a very busy day but I have been informed by many of the general public who did attend how wonderfully organised it was and such a diverse range of music, well done on the music Jacqui.
The lead up advertising was well thought out and very well placed and I am proud to admit that our club was at the very front with all the advertising, thank you Bev. Luffy got the park into order and running as well as it could be. I did hear a whisper that we had a very minor problem with chips but that will all come out later when the de brief is done. It is always a sad time when good members decide to move on due to any reason, especially when it is work related, I want to wish Camille and Craig all the very best in their work endeavours, Luffy is heartbroken about the scones. Our door is always open and you will always be a part of our Lions Family. We are getting to the time of year that calls for nominations for YOUR board. This is a very important part of a Lion s year and your next board is the one to drive the club forward. In the world we should be able to do something. We have Youth of the Year coming very soon. Please come along and see the future, it might just surprise you. On a sad note, we have a few sickies when don t we ) but to Desiley and Jeff, Christine Pritchard, Nan and anyone else that is struggling please get well. We need to see your smiling faces back at club events. In the words of.. someone, I forget, It will be alright in the end And if it is not alright IT IS NOT THE END CHRIS AS LIONS, WE SERVE

LCIF News Letter Dear Lions, This time of year, many of us gather with our loved ones to enjoy the comforts of friends, family, and traditions. During all of the celebrations, I cannot help but think of those who are less fortunate. Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) has accomplished great things, but there is still so much to be done. There are still people in need of support, care, or even the basic necessities of life, such as shelter, food, and water. As you consider giving gifts for the holidays, please also consider giving LCIF the gift of a donation. Any amount helps and goes toward a great cause. Donating in the name of a fellow Lion is also a great gift idea. It can even be done last-minute! DONATE NOW The end of the year is also a great time for reflection. Lions, you have many reasons to be proud. I know that Lions and LCIF, together, have made a tremendous impact this year, including surpassing US$1 billion in grants awarded since LCIF s founding in Take some time to think about what your club has accomplished this calendar year and congratulate yourselves on a job well done. Have a wonderful holiday season. Sincerely, Chancellor Bob Corlew, Chairman, Lions Clubs International
Happy Australia Day Being Australian is about driving in a German car to an Irish Pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry Or a Turkish Kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV. Oh and only in Australia can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance. Only in Australia do supermarkets make sick people walk all the way to the back of the shop to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front. Youth of the YEAR 20 th February It is a great night.
WELCOME BACK AFTER YOUR HOLIDAYS OVERSEAS AND ELSE WHERE AROUND THE COUNTRY. AVS CARTOON I KNOW YOU ARE REFRESHED AND REARING TO GIVE THE REST OF THE YEAR TO SOCIALS, VAN CLEANING AND WHAT ELSE ARISES.
Notes from the Board The secretary will be asking all members about their opinion on Tewantin Noosa holding the 2020 District Convention. Keep your eyes peeled for this survey. The Australian Lions Foundation is being approached for a grant for Georgia Gibson s Smart Pup. Camille and Craig have had to resign and leave us with the club s thanks and good wishes. Most of you are aware of Jeff and Desiley Staatz s misfortune from our last Dinner meeting. Jeff is now a Lion at Large (a very dangerous creature) and a committee is being formed to further our help. Youth of the Year is coming up on 20 th Feb. This is one of our more worthwhile projects so stay tuned. John Crossley sold over $2400 worth of XMAS cakes in Perigian. No small effort. The Raffle was a success as usual although 54 tickets weren t sold. Mainly books not returned by members. Remember if you can t sell your
tickets get them back in to the coordinator. They can be easily sold to the general public. The winner was from Melbourne. We are still very busy so don t put away the closed in shoes and aprons just yet. A policy issue: New members may not be aware of the TNLC policy regarding meals when volunteering. Each Lion working as part of a roster is entitled to one free food item and one soft drink for themselves only. Water is also free and you are definitely encouraged to drink water if you are in a food van but be careful of wastage. The Catering Manager suggests you write your initials on your drink bottle with a marker (these are normally in each van). Car Parking Car Parking was interesting. Over 39 TNLC Lions worked at least one shift. Thank you everyone involved. Noosa Heads came on board this year and did a number of shifts. Although the car numbers were way down our profits weren t down the same percentage because of the extra reimbursement to the Lions. Supervisors Peter O, Mike O B, and David W did their usual excellent job. There were some major discrepancies with the cash (mainly takings being over). These were all put down to various types of mistakes. We all need to be aware that because the fee per car is now &20 we are handling a lot more cash and need to follow process to the letter. Improved procedures will be in place by Easter. Using the PayPal EFTPOS facility proved that this is the way to go. The Treasurer is investigating using a single terminal similar to cafes etc. The really good news was the weather. Not one hour was lost due to rain. (Even though Trevor C nearly got soaked one day at closedown.) PS. Gary doesn t need the spare shed key so I will entrust it to your care. Cheers Paul Lions Can Achieve Anything
