Riding season and tornado season are here, so make sure that while you are out enjoying the best motorcycle is the world (you know, a Harley Davidson), keep a watch out for storms. If your Harley is equipped with a factory radio, it has weather band stations. So make sure you listen to it when the weather is bad, and try to always make room for your rain gear. The weather is getting hotter so make sure you drink plenty of liquids, such as water and Gatorade, to keep you hydrated. The best dealership, Fort Thunder Harley-Davidson, has all the right gear to keep you cool. Hydration vests are great, and the new shirts that will help keep you dry when you are sweating will also keep you cooler. We are getting around five new members each month. Please welcome them into our H.O.G. family. Show them how much fun we have riding, and why we are the best and most active chapter. I think we have six rides scheduled for June and we are just getting into good riding weather. If you are going on the Rooster Ride, please have fun and ride safe. 3 Sweet Cheeks Thingamabob by Karen Hale, Activities Officer - From Your Computer : Can you believe June is already here!? Rooster Ride is this month. It is always an exciting and eventful time. Hope to see you all there. We also have the baseball game this month. We will be riding from Fort Thunder to Bricktown, where we will be eating dinner before the game. The chapter picnic is coming up, at a different venue. You won t want to miss it. If there is any game or activity you would like to do, please let me know. I want everyone to have a great time. Border Patrol and Haunted Hogs Rides If you want to go riding and there is no scheduled chapter ride, just look in your Border Patrol or Haunted Hogs fliers, and you will find plenty of riding destinations at your fingertips. Below is all the info you need to be a member of the Border Patrol. Cost is $20.00 per participant. Ride begins on February 1, 2016 and ends on November 30, There are eleven Oklahoma border towns to be visited. Each stop must be recorded with a picture of you and your bike at any location in the specified town. Picture can be at the city hall, police station, library, post office, sign entering /exiting the town or any other sign that designates the town s name. Winner will be drawn at the Christmas Party on December 3, Turn in completed ride booklets to Moe Jones by Nov. 30th. Haunted Hogs rules are sim ilar. Cost is $20 per participant Destinations are haunted buildings throughout Oklahoma. Books must be turned in by the October chapter meeting. The winner will be announced at the Halloween Party. The more participation the more the prize money to be awarded! And above all Ride safe and have FUN!! 3

4 Grand Foo Pah Award I hope June is finding you safe, healthy and ready to ride because the Rooster is calling out to us. It looks like it will be an extralarge group this year heading north-east to the foothills and mountain roads of Arkansas and Missouri. We have a good number of new members that will be joining us this year as well, which reminds me we need to see if the goat is ready for a road trip. A wise bear once told me that the most important gear on a road trip is the one that you didn t bring! My saddlebags always contain my rain gear, along with plastic trash and zip lock bags of different sizes, a first aid kit with my medications and my ICE card. by Jerry Jarman, Safety Officer You have to be prepared for all weather conditions, and layering is the best way to stay comfy. Go to our favorite website to find a printable list of suggested of items to pack. Just print it, mark through what you don t carry and check the box as you pack it. en_us/home/owners/plan-yourride/road-trip-tips.html It is extremely important to stay relaxed while riding. Even more so when you are in the mountains and curves. Tensing up of the shoulders, arms and legs removes your ability to maneuver correctly. When you tense up you are stiff, and fighting the bike to hold the line that you had planned when entering the curve. A good exercise to do when this occurs is to loosen your grip and wiggle your arms to relax. When the group heading to HOT training stopped for fuel, Chuck Wheeler proceeded to fill up his tank while sitting on his bike seat, as many of us have done numerous times. Suddenly gas came exploding out of his tank and all over him. Chuck jumped off his bike, yelling a whole new list of words. Then he started to pour water down his pants from anywhere he could find it: bottled water, windshield washer fluid, hose, etc. supposedly to dilute the gasoline? Next he decided he needed to get on the bike and ride, so his pants would dry out. This didn t work work well because the gas was still burning his private area!!! So when they stopped at a Harley dealership about an hour down the road, Chuck decided to take his underwear off and leave them hanging in the bathroom. Wonder what the next person in that bathroom thought. What happens on the ride stays on the ride, right?...unless it s too funny not to share!! 4

6 Breakfast Ride to Harley s, Choctaw April 30 We met at On- Cue at 8:00AM, 22 members, 1 guest. There were 21 bikes so we split into two groups. The first group left at 8:30 followed by the second group 5 minutes later. We went east on 89 th to Western, then south out of OKC and Moore to Tecumseh Rd. in Norman. Winding through Norman, we finally turned left onto Hwy 9, where we rode past Lake Thunderbird to Hwy 102. Turning north, we rode by Bethel Acres and the Fire Lake Casino and on to Hwy 270 at McLoud. We ended up on Hwy 62 and rode into Choctaw. Harley s is on the west side of Choctaw where we all had a good breakfast. After waiting 30 minutes for Mike Hale, who rode in from the Texas Rally, 92. We stopped at Amber, then took Hwy 62 into Blanchard, and we left at 11:00. There were 9 took Hwy 37 into Tuttle, where we bikes and 9 people. made a right turn into Casey s We rode to I-44, where we turned Cajun Catfish. south to Newcastle, then west on Hwy 37 to Hwy 76 and south into The food was great. I had the catfish and shrimp lite meal and I Blanchard. Next we took a side street and turned south on Hwy 7 By Flood Collins Road Captain took a doggy bag home like some of the others. We beat the church crowd and the baseball team. Thanks to Jerry Hines for running mid and Barry Dethloff for running sweep. Great job, guys!

8 Leather and Lace Hi Everyone! Wow! We are halfway through the year already! Seems like the time is flying by this year. I would like to thank everyone that brought items to donate to the Toby Keith Foundation. You all out did yourselves! We will be delivering the items on June 4th. If anyone would like to go with us please let me know. We will not be having a June LOH meeting due to being gone on the Rooster Ride. I know everyone is looking forward to that! It will be a great time! August 14 LOH meeting & Swim party Diane Loser s house 2801 SW 138th, 6 pm Around the corner will be the LOH overnighter July 16th! Call the Durant Best Western to reserve a room: Men and Women are welcome on this ride. I hope it will be a great turnout! We had fun at the Bling it up and enjoyed all the snacks at the last LOH meeting. Due to so many being out of town there weren t many ladies who were able to attend. So we decided to postpone playing the game we had planned for our next meeting, which will be at Diane Loser s house at our August 14th. Be sure to bring a snack to share, as well as a $5 or $10 gift to play the game at that time. It s sort of like dirty Santa, so we named it dirty sister. Have a great month! Bo x M o or e, OK Let s meet Storm Riders Chapter, Oklahoma Territory Monthly newsletter Madison s Kitchen 4747 SE 29th Del City 7 pm Wednesday, June 8 Mid-Week Ride to Teran s in Lindsay May 12 Our ride to Teran s in Lindsay started out as a pleasant 90-mile ride in the country, but turned into a much more intense adventure about 40 miles in. Nine of us on 7 bikes and a cage took Hwy 37 to Minco, and went south on 81 to county road 125, which leads over to the tiny community of Dutton (Gene and Wayne, where were you?) When I pre-rode this route a few weeks before, a paved bypass detoured around an ominous-looking 100-yard stretch of gravel on steroids. When our group got there, the bypass was closed and the only option was to plow through the minefield. Not fun, especially for our triker. After a stop in Verden to visit the 1905 jail and take pix, we were off down another back road. Unfortunately, I turned down the wrong road, never a good idea in Oklahoma. It wasn t until I hit gravel as far as the eye could see that my brain got through to my muscles and I put on the brakes. Fortunately, and gingerly, we turned around safely and got back on track. When we finally got to the restaurant, our table was waiting. The service and food were good, and everyone made light of the incidents. Bill Reaves has dubbed me Gravel Gertie, and Gary Hanson said next time he would ride his dirt bike. On a day when I obsessed about the negatives, there were mostly positives. It was a comfortably warm, sunny day, great for riding. Everyone had a good time, and good-naturedly handled our learning experiences. The route was very scenic, and the 30-mile extension was a highlight! Even with all the extras, we were only 15 minutes past our estimated arrival time. Thanks to Linda Webster for being my sweep, and to J for helping me stay upright while I turned my bike around on that gravel hill. And to my husband, who despite recent surgery, hobbled up that gravel road as fast as he could to my rescue. 10
