The last time BU won in Mansfield was during the season, taking a victory. The Huskies are one game behind Kutztown for the final tournament spot. LAST TIME OUT BU won its fourth straight game, over Millersville on Senior Day. Sr. F Adon El had 15 points and 6 boards and Sr. G Ruben Britt added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals in the win, which kept the Huskies alive for the PSAC tournament. PSAC TOURNAMENT The Huskies sit in 5th place in the PSAC East, one game behind Kutztown. The Golden Bears play at Cheyney (15-10, 8-4) tonight and will host BU on Saturday, which could decide the final team into the tournament. ON A TEAR BU has been been a much improved squad during its four-game winning streak, with a scoring margin of ppg and a 51.0 FG%, a FG% and a 71.8 FT%. BU has also outrebounded its opponents by 7.0 rpg over this four-game stretch and has blocked 23 shots. SENIOR LEADER Sr. G Ruben Britt leads the Huskies and is 17th in the PSAC in scoring (14.3 ppg), leads BU in assists (63) and is 2nd in rebounding (5.5 rpg). He is also 2nd in steals with 37 and has an 83.3 FT% (65-78), which ranks 3rd in the PSAC. In 12 conference games this season, Britt is averaging 17.5 ppg and 5.6 rpg and has a 50.7 FG% (74-146) and an 84.3 FT% (43-51). HITTING DOUBLE-FIGURES Britt has hit double-figures in scoring 18 times this season, including a streak of 10 straight games earlier this year. During that span, Britt averaged 16.4 ppg with a 54.5 FG% (61-112) in 34.5 mpg. He also averaged 5.5 rpg with 33 assists and 15 steals over that stretch. Britt has games of 29 and 27 points against ESU and a career-high 30 in BU s comeback win over Edinboro. He has hit 20+ points six times this season, including three of his past four games. WHEN IT COUNTS Britt has been a force in the second half of the conference schedule, leading BU to a 4-1 record as they push for a PSAC tournament birth. In those games, Britt has averaged 20.8 ppg, 5.4 rpg and has a 56.5 FG% (39-69), a FG% (13-27) and a 92.9 FT% (13-14). IN THE MIDDLE So. F Larry Webster is averaging a team-high 7.1 rpg and is 2nd in the PSAC with 2.4 bpg this season. In the season opener at Chestnut Hill, he blocked 9 shots, a single-game BU record. Webster has five double-doubles, including three in the last five games, and has posted double-figure rebounds eight times. Webster is 3rd on the Huskies with 10.2 ppg, has 14 double-figure scoring games, and is 2nd in the PSAC with a 62.9 FG% ( ). MOVING UP With 6 blocks against West Chester, Webster moved into 6th place in BU history with 92 career blocks. He is now 8 blocks behind Seth Buckwalter ( ) for 5th place. The Huskies all-time leader is Lee Gump ( ) who finished his career with 130 blocks. His 58 blocks this year rank him 3rd all-time for a single season. HE SCORES... So. G Trevon Johnson is 2nd on the Huskies in scoring, averaging 11.9 ppg, and has led BU in scoring in eight games. He has scored 20+ four times this year, including 25 against Mansfield, 20 in the Huskies upset of No. 7 Kutztown and a career-high 26 against Wilmington. Johnson has scored in double-figures 15 times and has a 43.4 FG% ( ).
3 ...HE DEFENDS Johnson has also been dominant on the defensive end of the floor, averaging 2.4 spg, 3rd in the PSAC. He has at least 1 steal in 22 of 24 games this year and has recorded at least 3 on 12 occassions, including a season-high 5 against Mansfield and PSU Schuylkill. Johnson s 58 swipes this year are 4th all-time at BU and he is just five behind Mike Ellzy, who had 63 steals during the year. STEPPING UP So. G Jesse Betar has played well this season, appearing in 21 games and averaging 23.9 mpg. He is averaging 5.6 ppg and 3.1 rpg and has 40 assists on the season. Betar has stepped up over the past 14 games, starting 11 times and averaging 6.3 ppg and 3.3 rpg in 27.0 mpg. In his second start of the year against Clarion, Betar scored a season-high 15 points with 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Against Millersville, Betar came up clutch with a 3-pointer with 16 seconds left to send the game to overtime. DOWN LOW Sr. F Adon El and So. F Trenton Epps have provided a physical presence inside for the Huskies this season. El has recorded two double-doubles in 10 games, his latest coming with 14 points and 10 boards against Cheyney in his first start of the year. He made his season debut against West Chester, scoring 14 points and grabbing 7 boards in 33 minutes off the bench and is averaging 11.0 ppg and 6.8 rpg with a 54.8 FG% (40-73). Epps has played in all 24 games, with eight starts. In those games, Epps averaged 6.5 ppg and 5.6 rpg in 27.8 mpg and had a 60.5 FG% (23-38). Epps has eight games where he has scored at least 5 points and grabbed at least 5 rebounds. 4 BACKCOURT RESERVE Fr. G Jamar Smack has played in all 24 games this season, starting four times. He averages 16.1 mpg and is 3rd on the team with 46 assists. Smack has stepped it up against ranked opponents, averaging 7.0 ppg in 21.0 mpg, with an 78.6 FT% (11-14). He has at least 1 assist in 20 games, including a season-high 6 against PSU Hazleton, and has a 72.2 FT% (26-36) this season. OH CANADA! Sr. G Greg Elliott, a tri-captain, has made eight starts this season and is averaging 4.9 ppg and 2.0 rpg. He has scored at least 8 points in six games, including a season-high 19 against PSU Wilkes-Barre and 14 against Shippensburg. In his BU debut at Chestnut Hill, Elliott scored 9 points with 9 rebounds and 3 assists in 33 minutes. 5 SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS Mansfield is the only PSAC East team to already have qualified for a tournament spot, but still look to close out the regular season strong. The Mountaineers are led by Yuseff Carr, who is 6th in the PSAC in scoring, 6th in rebounding and 10th in blocked shots. Ryan Callahan is another multiple threat, ranking 16th in the conference in scoring and 6th in assists.
