The game will be played as part of a doubleheader tonight at 6:05, with today s regularly scheduled game beginning 30 minutes following the conclusion of the postponed game. Both games are scheduled to be played seven innings. LET S PLAY TWO: Tacoma went 7-7 in doubleheaders last year, sweeping one, splitting five, and being swept once. The Rainiers and Bees played a doubleheader on April 18, with Tacoma winning the opener 2-1 and Salt Lake winning game two 5-4. TONIGHT S STARTERS: Rainiers starting pitcher Forrest Snow makes his third start of the season and his 11th career appearance against Salt Lake tonight. In his two starts this year, Snow has an 0-1 record with a 1.86 ERA (2ERx9.2IP). Game two starter Mike Montgomery has faced Salt Lake three times in his career, going 1-1 with a 4.26 ERA (9ERx19.0IP). His last outing against the Bees on May 4 he went 7.0 innings, allowing two runs on eight hits. Bees starting pitcher Adam Wilk is making his first career start against Tacoma. In his most recent start against Reno on May 8 he surrendered 11 runs on 12 hits, two of which were home runs. Game two starter Zach Stewart is making his eighth appearance and fourth start of the year tonight against the Rainiers. Stewart s two most recent outings were at home against Tacoma - he combined to toss 5.1 scoreless innings while only allowing five hits in those two appearances. GET THEM ON: Tacoma batters have increased success at the plate with runners on base, hitting.292 (147x502) with a base occupied compared to.257 (69x269) with the bases empty. Bees starter Zach Stewart has allowed an opponent batting average of.370 (10x27) with runners on, while holding opposing hitters to a.214 (9x42) average with the bags empty. CATCHING FIRE: Rainiers catcher John Hicks hit his third home run in four games Tuesday night against Salt Lake. Hicks has now hit safely in nine of his last 10 games after hitting just.167 (7x32) through his first 11 games of the year. During the last 10 games he has hit.317 (13x41) with five doubles, three home runs, and seven RBI, bringing his season batting average up to.241 (20x83). HATEFUL EIGHT: After surrendering three eighth inning runs Tuesday night, the Rainiers have now been outscored in the eighth inning this year. Despite this, Tacoma is 13-4 when leading after seven innings. LEADING THE PACK: Rainiers infielder Ketel Marte has hit safely in 28 of his 33 games this year, and reached base in 29-of-33. He is one of only seven players in the league to have played in all 33 games. His.346 (47x136) batting average is first on the team, fourth in the league, and second in the organization. He also ranks among the best in the league in hits (1st, 47), stolen bases (T-2nd, 12), at-bats (2nd, 136), and TPA/SO ratio (4th, 11.31). In five games against Salt Lake this year, Marte is hitting.550 (11x20) with two runs, two doubles, four RBI, and two stolen bases. WINNING THE BATTLE: Tacoma utility man Shawn O Malley has a career batting average of.714 (5x7) with one extra base hit and one RBI against Bees starting pitcher Zach Stewart. O Malley was an All- Star selection from the Bees last year, hitting.330 (105x318) with 19 doubles and 14 stolen bases. WALK IT OUT: Jesus Montero s 6th inning walk Tuesday night was his first since April 13, a span of 107 at-bats without drawing a free pass. Montero has drawn a total of 210 career minor league walks, and earns a free pass on average of once every 12.2 plate appearances. Outfielder Franklin Gutierrez leads the Rainiers with 16 walks, and his on base percentage of.457 is the second best in the league. LIVE AND DIE BY THE LONG BALL: The Rainiers lineup has combined to hit 31 home runs this year, tied for the third highest total in the league % of Tacoma s runs this year have come via home runs. On the other side, Rainiers pitchers have surrendered a league-leading 36 home runs, 17 of which have come in Cheney Stadium.
