Tacoma jumped on the scoreboard early with seven runs in the first inning, chasing starter Brett Oberholtzer from the game after only 2.2 innings. The Tacoma offense struck for six more runs in the sixth inning. Chris Taylor, Stefen Romero, Jesus Montero, Franklin Gutierrez, and John Hicks all notched multiple hits. Starting pitcher Jordan Pries improved to 2-1 with 5.1 innings of work, allowing three runs on five hits. HEADS UP, 7 UP: Tacoma s seven-run performance in the first inning of last night s game is the most runs scored in the opening frame since May 13, 2007, when the Rainiers plated nine runs in the top of the first on the road at Albuquerque. Since then, they have notched five six-run first innings.
