Tacoma scored first in the top of the second inning with an RBI single by Nate Tenbrink that plated Jesus Montero to give the Rainiers an early 1-0 edge. The Topes answered back in their half of the second-inning, scoring five runs, including a grand slam by former Rainier Carlos Triunfel. Albuquerque manufactured three more runs in the next frame and led 8-1 after three innings. Leury Bonilla hit a two-run double that scored Tenbrink and Ji-Man Choi in the fifth. The Rainiers added their final two runs of the game in the sixth inning with a bases-loaded walk by Tenbrink and an RBI single by John Hicks that scored Ty Kelly. Tenbrink finished the night the 2-for-3 with two RBI and was one of three Rainiers to collect multiple hits. Bonilla was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, and Choi was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Starting pitcher Taijuan Walker was dealt his third loss of the season (4-3) after he surrendered eight runs on eight hits in 2.1 innings pitched. SERIES LY: Tacoma needs a victory tonight to win their first season series against Albuquerque since they went 3-1 in The Rainiers are 8-7 against the Topes this season and 5-2 at Isotopes Ballpark. SUMMER PRIES: Jordan Pries makes his teamleading 20th start of the season tonight and his second start of the year against the Topes. The right-hander was dealt the loss on June 7 against Albuquerque, but he tossed 6.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits and strinking out seven. Pries has made a team-leading 11 quality starts, including six of his last nine starts. JUST FOR HICKS: Catcher John Hicks entered the game in the fourth inning and collected a hit and drove in a run last night. Hicks has now hit safely in 10 of his first 12 career Triple-A games, including five multi-hit efforts. In his last eight games, Hicks is hitting.357 (10x28), with four RBI and four runs. FAMILIAR FOES: Albuquerque s roster features former Rainiers players Carlos Triunfel and Trayon Robinson. In parts of three seasons with the Rainiers from , the infielder Triunfel appeared in a combined 258 games at Tacoma. The outfielder Robinson appeared in 86 games with the Rainiers from They have combined to hit.256 (23x90) with 12 runs and 13 RBI against Tacoma this season. TY-REFFIC: Ty Kelly collected a hit and scored a run last night and has now hit safely in five consecutive games, including four multi-hit efforts. Over that span, Kelly is hitting.529 (9x17) with five runs scored, two extra-base hits and three RBI. Kelly has matched his career-high with 70 RBI (2012) and has already seat a career-high in home runs (15) this season. DOUBLE TROUBLE: The Rainiers hit into a seasonhigh four double plays last night and have ground into the fourth-most double plays in the league this season (114). In the field, the Rainiers have turned the second-fewest double plays (86), while Albuquerque has turned the second-most (126). CHOI-OUS CELEBRATION: Ji-Man Choi collected a pair of hits last night and has now reached base in 20 consecutive games. Over the course of the streak, Choi is hitting.297 (22x74) and has scored 14 times. He has hit safely in 17 of the 20 games and drawn eight walks. SOUTHERN UNCOMFORT: The Rainiers play their 62nd and final game against a PCL Pacific South Division opponent tonight and have a record of against teams from that division.
