1 at Kansas (DH) l April 8 Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Travel Day at Kansas (DH) 4 & 6 p.m. Huskers Travel to Kansas for Wednesday Doubleheader The Nebraska softball team begins one of its most important stretches of the season on Wednesday, when the Huskers travel to the Sunflower State for a doubleheader with the Kansas Jayhawks. Beginning with Wednesday s doubleheader at Kansas, Nebraska will play eight straight games against Big 12 foes over a 12-day span, including their only four mid-week games in conference play this season. The Huskers return home to host league-leading Texas on Friday and Saturday at Bowlin Stadium before playing a home-and-home series with Iowa State on Tuesday and Thursday of next week. NU concludes the conference stretch with a two-game series at Baylor on April 18 and 19. Fans can follow both games of Wednesday s doubleheader live on Huskers.com. Nate Rohr will call all of the action for the Husker Sports Network and his broadcast will be available for free on Huskers.com. Due to limitations at Arrocha Ballpark, the broadcast will originate from a cell phone so we apologize in advance for any problems with connectivity or clarity. The Huskers are currently tied with the Jayhawks for sixth place in the Big 12 Conference standings with a 2-4 record. Each of Nebraska s four conference losses have come by two runs or less, including three one-run road losses to top-2 teams. In three of the losses, every run the Huskers have allowed has scored with two outs. While the Huskers have been close to winning several more league games, they hope to find a way to win on Wednesday and snap a season-long four-game losing streak. NU has lost four straight despite not allowing more than three runs in any of those games. Offensively, Nebraska has scored only four runs in the four-game losing streak, after averaging nearly six runs per Leading Off... NU has lost four straight games, its longest losing streak of the season. Nebraska has only lost consecutive games twice this season, while the Huskers have posted four winning streaks of at least five games in 29. In a testament to Nebraska s balanced play at the plate, in the circle and in the field, the Huskers rank in the top 3 nationally in runs scored per game, ERA and fielding percentage. The only other teams to rank in the top 3 in each of those categories are No. 1 Florida and No. 2 Stanford. NU has hit 22 home runs this season. In the last five years, the 26 Huskers are the only other squad to homer 2 times in a season, finishing with 39. The Huskers have scored 18 runs in 35 games this season. In 27, NU totaled 177 runs in 57 games and last year, the Huskers put up 19 runs in 53 games. Practice No. 25 Texas 5 p.m. game prior to the recent slump. Clutch hits have been the Huskers problem of late, as NU has only been out-hit 21-2 during the losing streak, despite being outscored The Huskers have also drawn 14 walks and been hit by three pitches in their last four games, but Nebraska has gone just 6-for-5 (.12) with runners on base and only 1-for-25 (.4) with runners in scoring position during the losing streak. The Huskers have also had a runner on third with less than two outs six times, but have scored that runner only twice. Despite the recent slump, there is still plenty of hope for what has been a much-improved Husker offense this season. Nebraska has already scored more runs this season (18) than it did the entire 27 season (177 runs in 53 games) and NU has almost eclipsed last year s total of 19 runs in 53 games. The Huskers currently rank in the top 3 nationally in runs per game. In the circle, NU ranks in the top 3 nationally in ERA, while senior Molly Hill ranks 15th in wins, 2th in saves and 26th in ERA. 29 Softball Contact: Matt Smith msmith@huskers.com Office: (42) Cell: (42) Date Opponent/Tournament Time/Result Record UNI-Dome Classic (Cedar Falls, Iowa) Feb. 7 vs. Dayton W, 1- (5) 1- Feb. 7 vs. North Dakota W, Feb. 8 vs. South Dakota State W, 11-2 (6) 3- Feb. 8 at Northern Iowa W, Cathedral City Classic (Cathedral City, Calif.) The Huskers and Jayhawks are currently tied for sixth place in the league standings. KU has split each of its last two Big 12 series, taking one of two at Texas Tech last weekend after splitting a doubleheader at home with 11th-ranked Missouri last Wednesday. Kansas and Nebraska share five common opponents in Northwestern, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma State and Creighton. The Huskers are 4-3 against those teams, while the Jayhawks are 2-7. Kansas has struggled offensively this season against a very challenging schedule. The Jayhawks.24 average ranks last in the Big 12, but KU s.238 average in conference action ranks sixth. Three starters are hitting above.3, but four are hitting.225 or below. Liz Kocon leads the way with a.322 average that also includes teamhigh totals of seven doubles and 21 RBIs. She has also homered three Tale of the Tape Nebraska Category Kansas Record Average Home Runs Stolen Bases Runs Per Game Runs Allowed Per Game ERA Shutouts Strikeouts Per Game Opponent Average Fielding Percentage times in KU s first six Big 12 games. Dougie McCaulley is close behind with a.314 average and a team-high 18 runs scored and nine stolen bases, while Allie Clark leads the Jayhawks with five home runs. In the circle, Val George has seen the majority of the action. In 18 starts, George has compiled a 7-11 record with a 2.86 ERA. She has struck out 126 in only 115. innings, as her 7.67 strikeouts-per-seven-innings ratio ranks third in the league. George is just -2 in conference play however, with a 3.82 ERA. Sarah Vertelka is 5-5 on the year with a 2.84 ERA in 66.2 innings of work. She has seen more action in Big 12 play, as she is 2-2 with one shutout and a 2.33 ERA in 15. innings. Sarah Blair (-3, 3.75 ERA in 18.2 innings) and Clark (-2, 4.33 ERA in 21. innings) round out the Jayhawk staff. Husker History vs. Kansas Kansas leads the all-time series with Nebraska by a margin, although the Huskers won two of three meetings last season. The Huskers and Jayhawks have split the last 1 meetings, while Coach Revelle is all-time against Kansas, including a mark vs. KU Head Coach Tracy Bunge. The road teams have enjoyed tremendous success recently. The Huskers have won the last five meetings in Lawrence dating back to a 3- nonconference loss in 24. Last season, Nebraska split a home doubleheader with Kansas before beating the Jayhawks in the play-in round of the Big 12 Championship. In game one of the doubleheader, the Huskers led 2-1 going into the top of the sixth inning before Kansas scored three runs to take a 4-2 lead. The Huskers answered back with three runs in the bottom of the inning to win, as Brittany Pascale came through with a two-out, pinch-hit RBI single to cap the rally. In game two, NU committed four errors to lose in extra innings. Ashley Guile homered in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings, but KU scored three times in the eighth while the Huskers left 12 on base in the loss. In the postseason meeting, Nebraska again rallied late. NU trailed 3-1 heading into the fifth, but the Huskers scored twice in the fifth and once in the sixth to pull out a 4-3 victory. Molly Hill earned the decision in all three meetings last year and she is 2-2 with a 3.1 ERA in her career against the Jayhawks. 29 Nebraska Cornhuskers Numerical Roster No. Name Pos. Ht. Yr. 3 at Kansas (DH) s April 8 Page 3 Quick Hitters The information below provides a quick glimpse of a few statistics and brief notes of interest as the Huskers travel to 12th-ranked Oklahoma for a two-game series with the Sooners this weekend: Nebraska s record after 35 games stands at The Huskers have matched last year s win total (25-28). The Huskers record stood at 25-8 prior to being swept at 12th-ranked Oklahoma last weekend. The only other teams in the 34-year history of Nebraska softball to win at least 25 of the first 33 games were the 1985 Huskers (25-8), the 1998 Huskers (25-8), the 22 Huskers (28-5) and the 26 Huskers (27-6). All of those teams except the 26 squad went on to make the Women s College World Series. Nebraska returns every starter from the 28 season and a total of 15 letterwinners. Overall, the Huskers 21- player roster has combined to start 1,486 games at the Division I level. NU is (.67) all-time in the month of April, as the month has been Nebraska s best all-time month in terms of victories and winning percentage. Last year, the Huskers were just 7-1 in April and NU is -3 in 29. The Huskers have hit 22 home runs this season after homering only 15 times in 28 and 14 times in 27. Six Huskers have hit more than one home run this season, the highest total at NU since 23. Five starters in the Husker lineup are hitting above.3. Six Huskers have already posted double-digit walk totals this year. Last year, a total of three Huskers drew 1- or-more walks in 53 games. Of the Huskers 11 returning hitters, six have set career highs this season in runs scored, five in RBIs and home runs and four in doubles. Senior Meghan Mullin scored her 3th run of the season in Nebraska s 31st game, becoming the fastest player to score 3 runs in a season since at least 2. The Huskers have held 24 of their first 35 opponents to two runs or less. Nebraska gave up only two runs in each of its first two Big 12 losses, marking the only times the Huskers have lost this season when allowing less than three runs. NU is 22-2 overall when allowing two runs or less. Nebraska is 13-1 this season when playing error-free ball. Molly Hill has enjoyed terrific run support this season. In her 16 starts, Nebraska has averaged 5. runs per game. In 28, Hill received 3.7 runs of support and Nebraska scored only 2.5 runs per game for Hill in 27. Nebraska is 52-of-61 in stolen bases this season, a success rate of 85 percent. Overall, the Huskers have been successful on 38 of their last 41 attempts. NU has been hurt by two-out runs in its losses. In six of NU s 1 losses, every run has scored with two outs. The second game of Wednesday s doubleheader with Kansas will mark Coach Revelle s 999th career game as a head coach. It could also mark the 2th game played of Crystal Carwile s career, if she appears in both games. Taking One for the Team Senior Crystal Carwile was hit by three pitches in three games last week. A native of Chino, Calif., Carwile has now been hit by a team-high five pitches this season and 2 times in her career. Carwile is just the second player in school history to get hit by 2 pitches in a career. Former Husker Devin Porter owns the school record, as she was plunked 22 times from 24 to 27. Hill Earns 1th Career Decision Senior right-hander Molly Hill took the loss in the Huskers narrow 3-2 setback at 12th-ranked Oklahoma last Sunday. The decision was the 1th of her career, as Hill now owns a career record of Hill is only the fifth pitcher in the 34-year history of Nebraska softball to earn 1 career decisions, joining Jenny Voss (1997-2), Leigh Ann Walker ( ), Peaches James (2-24) and Ashley DeBuhr (24-7). Hill s.65 career winning percentage ranks eighth in Husker history. Oh So Close Nebraska is tied for sixth in the Big 12 Conference standings with a 2-4 record, but the Huskers are just a few plays away from being near the top of the league standings. Of Nebraska s four conference losses, three have been by just a single run while the fourth was by only two runs. In three of the Huskers four losses, every run the opponent has scored has come with two outs. In addition five of the 1 runners who have scored in the losses reached base by either a walk or a hit batter, while two runs came home on bases-loaded walks. Seniors Posting High Walk Totals Seniors Amanda Duran and Meghan Mullin have each walked 21 times this season, a total which not only ties for the team lead but also ties as the third-most in the Big 12 Conference. The two Huskers with at least 2 walks this season matches the combined total from the previous three seasons, as only one player coaxed 2 walks in both 27 and 28 and no Husker drew 2 walks in 26. The last time Nebraska has had more than two players walk 2 times in a season was in 24, when three Huskers drew 2-or-more walks. USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll (April 7) Rk. Team Record Pts. LW 1. The Huskers rank 5th nationally in double plays per game, while their current average of double plays per game ranks as the second-highest total at Nebraska this decade. NU has also turned two double plays in a single game on three occasions this season. Husker 4x1 Senior Haley Long picked up the 1th hit of her career in game one of a doubleheader with Oklahoma State on March 29. Long joined fellow seniors Crystal Carwile, Meghan Mullin and Darcy Rutherford as current members of the 1-hit club. The last time a Husker lineup featured four players with 1 career hits was in 26, but that only lasted for four games, as Jamie Waldecker became the fourth member during the NCAA Tournament. The last time a Nebraska lineup featured five players with 1 career hits was in 23. The 29 Huskers could feature five players with 1 career hits by the end of the season, as senior Brittany Pascale owns 76 career hits. Nebraska in the NCAA Statistical Rankings The NCAA released its second set of official statistical rankings on March 31 and the Huskers were well represented in several categories. NU can claim to be one of the most balanced teams in the nation, as only Nebraska, No. 1 Florida and No. 2 Stanford rank in the top 3 nationally in scoring offense, ERA and fielding percentage. The Huskers rank 14th in the nation in fielding percentage (.974), 28th in scoring offense (5.5 runs per game) and 3th in ERA (1.83). While the Huskers are among the nation s elite in every facet of the game, they also rank among the top 5 nationally in eight of the NCAA s 11 team categories. NU ranks 17th in winning percentage (.781), 27th in batting average (.32), 4th in stolen bases per game (1.56), 48th in slugging percentage (.433) and 5th in double plays per game (.38). The Huskers also rank 64th in home runs per game (.69). It has truly been a team effort for Nebraska this season as only two Huskers are included in the NCAA s individual rankings. Senior Molly Hill ranks 15th nationally in victories (15), 2th in saves (2) and 26th in ERA (1.21). The only other Husker among the nation s individual leaders is fellow senior Amanda Duran, who ranks 11th nationally in sacrifice flies (3). Huskers at No. 25 in First NCAA RPI Release Nebraska came in at the No. 25 spot in the first official NCAA RPI rankings, released on April 1. The Huskers were one of four Big 12 Conference teams among the top 25 in the RPI. Each of NU s losses has come to a team ranked in the top 7 of the RPI. Every loss had come to a top-5 RPI team prior to the Huskers 3- loss to No. 67 Creighton on Wednesday. The Huskers are 1-8 against the RPI top 1 this season, including a 2-3 mark against the top 25. Brechtel Breaks Out Following a 1-for-1 slump early in the season, sophomore Julie Brechtel was taken out of the lineup against Penn State on Feb. 27. Brechtel earned the start at second base against the Nittany Lions, but she was not in the batting order, as her season average stood at just.238. Brechtel found her way back into the lineup in the Huskers next game and promptly hit her first career home run in her first at bat. Since then, Brechtel has broken out in a big way, as she has her average up to a team-high.38, while also pacing the Huskers with a.63 slugging percentage and a.527 on-base percentage. Since returning to the lineup, Brechtel has produced all eight of her multi-hit games this season and all four of her multi-rbi contests. In 24 games since her return to the lineup, Brechtel has reached base safely in 22 contests, while batting.431. Defensively, Brechtel is perfect in 65 chances over her last 18 games while she has committed only one error in 74 chances since her return to the lineup. Below is a breakdown of how Brechtel fared before being taken out of the lineup and since her return to the batting order: Category Games Avg. AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SO BB HBP SB SLG% OB% Before Return Huskers Feature Balanced Lineup Nebraska has used a balanced lineup to average more than five runs per game this season. Five starters are hitting above.3, but the real balance comes in the power department. The Huskers have relied heavily on senior Crystal Carwile for power production over the past three years. While Carwile has continued to deliver, she has enjoyed much more support this season. Carwile, who led NU in home runs, RBIs and slugging percentage in each of her first three seasons, only leads the team in RBIs this year. Six Huskers have hit more than one home run this season, the highest total for the Huskers since 23. Last year, no player other than Carwile homered more than once and only four players homered all season.

5 s at Kansas (DH) s April 8 Page 5 In the RBI department, Carwile leads the team with 27 RBIs and senior Amanda Duran ranks second with 21 driven in and sophomore Julie Brechtel rank third with 2 RBIs. With one more RBI from sophomore Heidi Foland, Nebraska will have four players with at least 2 RBIs this season, tying for its highest total since 23. Eight Huskers have also scored at least 1 runs this season, marking Nebraska s highest total since 26. Rally Time Five of Nebraska s last 1 victories have been made possible thanks to late-inning rallies. Entering a March 17 doubleheader with North Dakota State, the Huskers had been -3 when trailing after four innings, -3 when trailing after five and -5 when trailing after seven. But Nebraska has now won four games when trailing after four innings, two when trailing after five and the Huskers pulled off their first seventh-inning comeback in nearly two seasons at then-19th-ranked Texas A&M on March 22. The Huskers never led until scoring a pair of extra-inning walk off victories in a doubleheader sweep of North Dakota State on March 17. Nebraska then rallied from a one-run seventh-inning deficit at 19th-ranked Texas A&M five days later. NU trailed 1- with two outs and nobody on in the seventh, before a walk and back-to-back singles forced extra innings, where the Huskers won in nine, 3-2. Last week, Nebraska trailed Drake 2- in the fifth inning in game one on Wednesday, before three home runs powered the Huskers to a 5-2 win. In game two, the Bulldogs led 4-3 heading into the sixth, when Nebraska scored four times in its final at bat to earn a 7-4 win. The Huskers then rallied from a 3-2 sixth-inning deficit to post a 6-3 win over Oklahoma State on March 29. Walk This Way Nebraska has drawn 128 walks through the first 35 games this season. The Huskers walk total is tied for the fourth-highest in the Big 12 Conference, while NU s average of 3.7 walks per game ranks second. Highlighting the total has been six games where the Huskers have walked at least six times, including a season-high 1 walks against South Dakota that marked NU s first game with at least 1 walks since 23. In 27 and 28, the Huskers combined to record only four games with six-or-more walks in a total of 11 games. NU has also coaxed at least eight walks three times this season, matching its combined total from the past five seasons (24-8), which covered a stretch of 287 games. Already this season, five Huskers have set career highs for walks in a season, including three seniors. Leading the way are seniors Amanda Duran (21 walks) and Meghan Mullin (21), who both rank third in the Big 12 in individual Walks. Entering the year Mullin, who tied the school record with four walks in a single game vs. South Dakota, had walked just 25 times in her first three seasons. Overall, six Huskers have already coaxed at least 1 walks this season after only three players posted a double-digit walk total last season. The Huskers have also been hit by 33 pitches this season, which already ranks as the fourth-highest total in the 34-year history of Nebraska softball. The walks and hit-by-pitches have helped Nebraska post a.397 on-base percentage. In a full season, no Husker team has ever posted an on-base percentage above.382. Power Surge Nebraska hit three home runs in the fifth inning in game one of a March 25 doubleheader with Drake to overcome a 2- deficit and rally for a 5-2 win. Seniors accounted for each of the three homers, as Crystal Carwile led off the inning with a solo shot, before Amanda Duran made it back-to-back home runs three pitches later. Following a walk, Brittany Pascale launched a two-run homer to cap the span of three home runs in four batters. The power surge marked the first time in 46 games that Nebraska had hit three home runs in an inning. Prior to the Drake game, the last time the Huskers had homered three times in an inning was during a 9-1 win over Miami (Ohio) on March 17, 22. That power surge came in the first six batters of the game, as Kim Ogee led off with a homer, Amber Burgess drilled a two-run shot three batters later and Peaches James completed the trifecta with another solo home run out of the No. 6 spot in the lineup. The back-to-back home runs by Carwile and Duran against the Bulldogs also marked the first time Nebraska had hit consecutive home runs since 27. Overall, the Huskers hit three home runs against Drake, marking their second three-homer game of the year. Prior to this year, NU had not hit more than two home runs in a game since 26. Nebraska has now produced a total of five multi-home run games this season, eclipsing the combined total from the past two seasons. The Huskers had only one multi-homer game in both 27 and 28. In 26, the Huskers posted 11 multi-homer games. Huskers Have Claimed Three Big 12 Weekly Awards After winning only one Big 12 weekly award last season, three Huskers have already been honored this year. Freshman Ashley Hagemann and senior Molly Hill have been named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, while sophomore Julie Brechtel was named Big 12 Player of the Week on March Big 12 Conference Standings (April 5) Rk. Meghan Mullin, CF (35 starts,.336, 2 2B, HR, 8 RBIs) A speedy slapper, Mullin led NU in average in both 27 and 28. Her career.329 average ranks 11th in Husker history. Mullin has started 14 straight games in the outfield, while posting hitting streaks of 1 and 15 games. 2. Darcy Rutherford, LF (35 starts,.333, 5 2B, HR, 9 RBIs) Rutherford returns as the starter in left field after putting together a career season in 28. A career.311 hitter, Rutherford has added more power to her game and has hit a career-high five doubles this season. 3. Kelli Linke, RF (5 starts,.25, 2 2B, HR, 6 RBIs) Linke made 17 starts in 28 following Amanda Duran s season-ending injury. This season, she has started five games and boasts a.25 average with two doubles and six RBIs in only 24 at bats. 4. Amanda Duran, C (34 starts,.352, 6 2B, 3 HRs, 2 RBIs) A two-time junior college All-American, Duran hit.279 in 28 before a season-ending injury cut her first season 2 games short. She is batting.352 this season while slugging.523 and reaching base at a.487 clip. 5. Brittany Pascale, DP (28 starts,.291, 2 2B, 4 HRs, 16 RBIs) Pascale saw limited at bats last season as she continued to recover from shoulder surgery. Healthier this season, Pascale has surpassed her career total with four home runs this season while producing a career-best 16 RBIs. 6. Julie Brechtel, 2B (35 starts,.38, 5 2B, 3 HRs, 2 RBIs) Brechtel was consistent defensively as a freshman starter in 28 and had solid stretches of offense as well. She has emerged offensively this year, as she leads the team in average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. 7. Crystal Carwile, 1B (32 starts,.327, 7 2B, 4 HRs, 27 RBIs) A three-time All-Big 12 selection, Carwile has led NU in homers and RBIs the past three years. She is playing through a knee injury, but is still leading the team in RBIs and doubles, while ranking second in home runs. 8. Whitney Barrett, SS (33 starts,.2, 1 2B, HR, 7 RBIs) Plagued by injuries in her first season-and-a-half as a Husker, Barrett finally began to feel healthy midway through 28. She responded by batting.366 over the final 2 games of 28, but a hand injury is currently limiting her. 9. Heidi Foland, 3B (34 starts,.223, 4 2B, 5 HRs, 19 RBIs) Foland emerged as a surprise player in 28 after focusing solely on softball for the first time. The former Division II basketball recruit leads Nebraska with five home runs this season after not homering her freshman season. 1. Molly Hill, RHP (2 starts, 15-7, 1.35 ERA, 111 Ks, 14. IP) After winning the Big 12 ERA crown in 27, Hill underwent knee surgery just prior to the 28 season and was unable to regain her form. She is healthy again and ranks in the top three in the Big 12 in wins, saves and ERA. Madison Drake, OF ( starts,., 2B, HR, RBIs) Drake was a consensus first-team all-state selection for Lincoln Southwest High School as a senior. She hit.434 as a senior, but is making the switch from shortstop to the outfield this season. Drake has scored six runs in 29. Jamie Gay, INF (3 starts,.118, 1 2B, HR, 1 RBI) Gay earned first-team All-Nebraska honors as a senior for Beatrice High School. NU s top backup at third base, Gay hit.495 with 16 doubles in her final prep season. She has started three games at third and has had one RBI. Crystal Gonzalez, OF ( starts,., 2B, HR, RBIs) Gonzalez missed the final 22 games of 27 and all of 28 following two knee surgeries. She appeared in three games this season and scored one run, but another knee injury will keep her out for the rest of this season. Ashley Guile, DP (5 starts,.25, 6 2B, 1 HR, 18 RBIs in 28) Guile led NU with 25 walks in 28, while primarily batting fourth in the lineup. An injury has kept her out so far in 29, but she started every game when healthy last season, while hitting third, fourth or fifth in the order. Ashley Hagemann, RHP (7 starts,.286, 2B, HR, RBIs; 12 starts, 6-3, 3.21 ERA, 89 Ks, 61. IP) Hagemann earned Big 12 co-pitcher-of-the-week honors after striking out 19 in her debut. She has allowed only 43 hits this season, but 11 have been home runs, as 19 of the 28 runs she has allowed have scored on homers. Nikki Haget, INF ( starts,., 2B, HR, RBIs) A four-time state champion at Elkhorn High School, Haget is NU s backup at second and one of the Huskers top pinch runners. Haget missed 2 games with an injury, but has played in 13 games, scoring six runs. Alex Hupp, RHP/OF (7 starts,.28, 3 2B, 1 HR, 8 RBIs; 2 starts, 2-,.93 ERA, 11 Ks, 15. IP) Hupp has the opportunity to help the Huskers offensively and defensively. Focusing more on her offensive game in 29, Hupp has more hits, doubles, home runs and RBIs this year than she did in all of 28. Haley Long, OF (3 starts,.279, 2B, 2 HRs, 7 RBIs) A 27 second-team All-Big 12 selection, Long put up even better numbers in 28, when she hit.26 higher. Long got off to a slow start this season and is battling an arm injury but has still slugged a career-best two homers. Robin Mackin, RHP (1 start,., 2B, HR, RBIs; starts, -,. ERA, 1 K, 2. IP) A 27 NFCA Third-Team All-American, Mackin led the WAC in wins, ERA and strikeouts both years at Fresno State (26 & 27). Mackin pitched two innings this season, but has elected for season-ending shoulder surgery. Tori Tyson, RHP (1 start, 2-, 2.76 ERA, 5 Ks, 12.2 IP) Tyson was thrown into the fire as a freshman, starting three games in her first weekend, including two against top-1 foes. She has appeared in only four games this season and is 2- with a 2.76 ERA. Kirby Wright, C (3 starts,., 2B, HR, 1 RBI) Nebraska s first recruit from New York in the NCAA era, Wright will work into the Huskers catching rotation. A threetime all-state selection for Hendrick Hudson High School, Wright has earned three starts and drawn two walks.

After posting the highest 15-game run total in school history, Nebraska finished with the second-highest run total after 2 games, third-highest run total after 25 games, third-highest run total after 3 games and fourth-highest run total after 35 games in the 34-year history of the program. Only three other teams in school history were averaging at least five runs per game 3 games into the season. To put this year s run-scoring success in perspective, NU did not score its 18th run until the 5th game of the season last year and in 27, the Huskers totaled only 177 runs in 56 games. With the season half over, Nebraska s average of 5.1 runs per game is currently on pace to rank as the fourth-highest total in school history. The record is 5.6 runs per game by the 1978 Huskers.
