Mid-Continent Conference Game Kangaroos Open Final Homestand of Season Against Wichita State The UMKC softball team opens its final homestand of the 2005 season Wednesday as it hosts Wichita State at Adair Park. First pitch for the Wednesday doubleheader is set for 4 p.m. CDT. The Kangaroos will travel to Springfield, Mo., to face Southwest Missouri State Thursday (April 28), and conclude the home portion of the season on Saturday (April 30) against North Dakota State with a 1 p.m. CDT doubleheader. UMKC is 8-38 overall and 4-12 in the Mid-Con. Wichita State is and 17-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference. About UMKC The Kangaroos are 8-38 overall and 4-12 in the Mid-Con. In its last outings, UMKC was swept by Western Illinois, 3-1 and 1-0 at Adair Park April 23. UMKC managed only four hits on the day after banging out 23 hits the night before. UMKC is led offensively by sophomore Eryn Knecht, who is batting.228 on the season with 21 hits and 10 runs batted in. About Wichita State The Shockers are entering the week. In their last game, WSU shut out Illinois State, 8-0, at Wichita April 24. Right fielder Lynn Ashley was 3-for-4 with three runs batted in and two runs scored. The Series Wichita State and UMKC are meeting for the 25th time overall, with WSU holding a 20-4 lead in the all-time series.
