APPLESOX THWARTED IN EXTRAS, THIRD-STRAIGHT ONE-RUN GAME The were defeated 2-1, Friday night in 1 innings...a game that decided the three-game series at Bend, Ore...the scored first in the second inning on a chopped infield single on the third base side for Jake Taylor...Evan Johnson extended his WCL-leading 14 game hitting streak to 15 games in the first inning...all of the five hits came off of Bend starter Caleb Henry...Grant Larson (6 inn.) and Chase Thometz (1 inn.) pitched the next seven innings without allowing a hit...the only baserunner over that stretch was a walked batter in the fourth...bend scored the winning run in the 1th on a play at the plate with the infield in, and the bases loaded with one out...matthew Young was sterling in his start, allowing just one run over 7 innings in his final appearance of the summer (temporary contract player).
