It takes a lot of hard work and dedication from the coaches, parents and children involved to earn the privilege to play at this level. 7 Credentials and Coaches Meeting There will be no coaches meeting at this year state tournament. All meetings will be held at the plate before each games=. Publicity The Opp News, along with, the Andalusia Star News will be covering the event locally. Photography GSP PHOTOGRAPHICS All Star Action Photography GSP will be available to provide your team with quality action photography during your game. In order to maximize your pictures, and give the best value, rather than sell prints GSP will provide a DVD with HUNDREDS of high quality images of your team batting, fielding and candid shots to choose from, along with a copyright release. This is easy to use on social media, and make your own prints. In order to provide this service, GSP has a prepaid order system set up, you order and pay prior to your game for pictures. The cost is $10 per player - $120 per team, or divided among players who wish to have a disc, if only 10 want to buy, then it will be $12 per player. If the team has more than 12 players, it is $10 per player, or $140 for the team if you have 14 players for example. If all do not want to buy, just divide the

8 number of players by the total amount. 2 free DVD s will be created for coaches. Pictures are prepay only. To have your team photographed in action play, please contact , call or text. The day before your game is best to schedule to avoid scheduling conflicts. If you leave immediately after your game, make sure you leave a mailing address and the set of discs will be mailed to you - no charge. 9 Tournament Notebook The following documents are required by the Babe Ruth League, Inc. for each team before they are eligible to participate in any sanctioned Babe Ruth League, Inc. post season tournament. 1. Tournament documents are to be placed in a three ring binder in the order listed below. 2. These documents are to be placed in clear plastic, top-loading paper savers before being placed in the binder. 11 CITY OF OPP PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT RULES & REGULATIONS Prepared for CITY OF OPP PARKS & RECREATION By Ronald W. Penn March 25, 2002

12 PARK RULES 1. No Coolers will be allowed in the park. A water cooler will be provided for each team in their dugout. Each team may bring one cooler, but it must remain in the dugout. 2. No outside food may be brought into the park. 3. No artificial noise makers in the park. 4. No pets allowed in the park. DRUGS, ALCHOHOL AND TOBACCO Alcoholic beverages and drugs are strictly prohibited from all recreational facilities under the jurisdiction of the City of Opp Parks and Recreation Department. The City of Opp has adopted a zero tolerance policy for drugs and alcoholic beverages, therefore, anyone, to include, players, spectators, coaches and umpires who are found to be using or under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the City of Opp s recreational facilities will be subject to a minimum thirty (30) day ban from all recreation facilities. Tobacco may be used in designated areas. CONDUCT The City of Opp has a zero tolerance policy for any acts of violence, therefore, anyone, including coaches, umpires, spectators or players, who participate in or are a party to any act of violence, to include verbal or physical, while involved in any Opp Parks and Recreation sport programs. Abusive language, profanity and displays of vulgarity are also prohibited and are subject to be banned from the facilities. VEHICLES Automobiles, trucks and other vehicles shall be operated at safe and reasonable speeds and remain on roads designated for their use. Skates, skateboards, and bicycles are not allowed. ADVERTISING Advertising will not be allowed on park property unless specifically approved by the City of Opp Parks and Recreation, and only in the event of a substantial contribution. GENERAL All facilities of the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Opp shall be under the supervision of the Director of Parks and Recreation All person who patronize the recreational facilities of the City of Opp Parks and Recreation Department or patronize the facilities under the direction of the department must conduct themselves in a manner that reflects favorably on the City of Opp.

13 ALABAMA BABE RUTH LEAGUE Concussion Information Form A concussion is a brain injury and all brain injuries are serious. They are caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head, or by a blow to another part of the body with the force transmitted to the head. They can range from mild to severe and can disrupt the way the brain normally works. Even though most concussions are mild, all concussions are potentially serious and may result in complications including prolonged brain damage and death if not recognized and managed properly. In other words, even a "ding" or a bump on the head can be serious. You cannot see a concussion and most sports concussions occur without loss of consciousness. Signs and symptoms of concussion may show up right after the injury or can take hours or days to fully appear. If your child reports any symptoms of concussion, or if you notice the symptoms or signs of concussion yourself, seek medical attention right away. Symptoms may include one or more of the following: Headaches Amnesia "Pressure in Head" Nausea or vomiting Neck pain Balance problems or dizziness Blurred, double, or fuzzy vision Sensitivity to light or noise Feeling sluggish or slowed down Drowsiness Change in sleep patterns Amnesia "Don't feel right" (Fatigue or low energy) Sadness, nervousness, or anxiety Irritability More emotional Confusion Concentration or memory problems (forgetting game plays) Repeating the same question/comment Signs observed by teammates, parents and coaches include: Appears dazed Shows behavior or personality changes Vacant facial expression Can't recall events prior to hit Confused about assignment Can't recall events after hit Forgets plays Seizures or convulsions Is unsure of game, score, or opponent Any change in typical behavior or personality Moves clumsily or displays incoordination Loses consciousness Answers questions slowly Slurred speech

14 What can happen if my child keeps on playing with a concussion or returns too soon? Athletes with the signs and symptoms of concussion should be removed from play immediately. Continuing to play with the signs and symptoms of a concussion leaves the athlete especially vulnerable to greater injury. There is an increased risk of significant damage from a concussion for a period of time after that concussion occurs, particularly if the athlete suffers another concussion before completely recovering from the first one. This can lead to prolonged recovery, or even o severe brain swelling (second impact syndrome) with devastating and even fatal consequences. It is well known that adolescent or teenage athletes will often fail to report symptoms of injuries. Concussions are no different. As a result, education of administrators, coaches, parents and students is the key to a student-athlete's safety. Concussion Policy: Any health care professional or certified coach may identify concussive signs, symptoms or behaviors of an athlete during any type of athletic activity. Any athlete who exhibits signs, symptoms or behaviors consistent with a concussion shall be removed from the contest and shall not return to practice or play until a medical release has been issued by a medical doctor. If you think your child has suffered a concussion: Any athlete even suspected of suffering a concussion should be removed from the game or practice immediately. No athlete may return to activity on the same day he/she sustained an apparent head injury or concussion, regardless of how mild it seems or how quickly symptoms clear. The athlete may return the following day or anytime thereafter with written clearance from a medical doctor. Close observation of the athlete should continue for several hours. You should also inform your child s coach if you think that your child may have a concussion. Remember it's better to miss one game than miss the whole season. And when in doubt, the athlete sits out. This form is required by Alabama Law established in June The form was revised in April 2012, coinciding with the current AHSAA Concussion Policy. This form was revised in January 2013 and adopted for use by the Alabama Babe Ruth League (ABRL). I have reviewed this information on concussions and am aware that a release by a medical doctor is required before a player may return to play under this policy.
