1 Delta Pedalers Newsletter Quarterly Newsletter: July September 2014 Club Picnic Sunday October 19, :00pm-7:00pm Veterans Park in 384 Balfour Rd. Brentwood next to the Aquatic Complex Balfour & Griffith Ln. Pictures of Mary s Trip to Vermont

2 2015 Spicer Club Camping Trip The 2015 Spicer Reservoir trip will be open to Members, Family and Friends. If we do not fill up then we ll reach out to Valley Spokesmen Bike Club and Stanislaus Bike Club Bicycle Rodeo - Brentwood Elementary, September 19, 2014 Once again, we have been asked to put on a bicycle rodeo for the Brentwood Elementary School's Health Festival. The date of the festival is Friday, September 19th and will take place in the south lot (behind the school). In years past, the event has been excellent public relations for our bicycle club as we have had many satisfied young customers express their enjoyment of the event while they learned something about bicycle safety. For uninitiated, Contra Costa County provides a trailer containing a pressboard "city". We borrow the trailer and set up the city and tykes ride their bikes in and around the area while we Pedalers coach them on their skills, decisions, and courtesy. We also provide safety services: helmet fitting, bicycle adjustment, air for tires, and anything else we are equipped to provide. Volunteers are needed. We ask that we all assemble at the east entrance (200 Griffith Lane, Brentwood) to the rear playground at 3:00 PM sharp. We will need to unload the trailer, set up Bike City, and make last-minute adjustments to our plan of activities before children queue-up. The rodeo will run to around 6:30 PM, and then we'll load the trailer again. A good night's sleep is guaranteed. To volunteer and for more details, please contact Dave Stoeffler 925_628_2671, or Mike Thomas 925_250_9287, reply to this post.

4 2014 Ride to the Tomato Festival at Smith Farm by Mike Thomas On August 24th, a group of Delta Pedalers rode from Brentwood to enjoy the Tomato Festival held at Smith Farm in Knightsen. Several DPs were joined by the Sanabria-Lugo family of Brentwood (who have pledged to rejoin the club). It was a long and warm day, but everyone rode safely and enjoyed the event, which featured great food, and gr live music. The Tomato Festival is destined to become an annual DP favorite.
