New Channel Rebrandings FOX rebranded its FOX Soccer Channel to FXX in early September. digimax customers with the Expanded package can now see FXX on channel 313/474HD. FXX targets adults in the range with original drama series and movies, with an emphasis on a safe, cool place where we can chill with friends. Hit series include It s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League. The Style Channel rebranded to Esquire Network on September 23, 2013, and will keep Style s digimax channels 46/540HD. Esquire Network will cater content to today s upscale male audience and include new shows such as Brew Dogs, The Getaway and How I Rock It. TV Premiers in October Halloween Wars - Oct. 6 at 8:00p.m. on Food Network (68/536HD). Back for a third hair-raising season with four frightening episodes. Five teams create heart-stopping Halloween themed displays out of pumpkin, cake and sugar and one team is eliminated each week. Signed, Sealed & Delivered - Oct. 12 at 8:00p.m. on Hallmark Channel (49/574HD). From the producers of Touched By An Angel, comes a comedic drama about a group of intrepid mail detectives who will deliver every lost letter to its owner just when the recipient needs it most. Overhaulin -Oct. 1 at 8:00p.m. on Velocity (552HD) This first of five episodes will feature a car that Chip Foose and his team transform into a custom showpiece for a surprised and grateful owner, such as an Iraq war veteran who can drive his muscle car again after it is rebuilt with hand controls. Valid addresses are valuable to spammers since the spammers frequently sell the addresses. Always remember that if you receive an that looks suspicious or you do not recognize the sender it is better to be safe and delete the message. Make sure your anti-virus software is up to date. 6 In Our Community Metamora Park District Activities Signs of Fall - Explore the woods at Black Partridge Park with our Director/Outdoor Educator, Christy Ganson, as you experience the sights, sounds, and scents of fall. The hike is for all ages and will be on Sat., October 12, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Price is $2.00 per participant. Meet at the back pavilion near the baseball field at Black Partridge Park. Nature Play - New for preschoolers and toddlers! This is a monthly, nature-based program which meets at the Community Center and, weather permitting, also will go outside to the park. Children (ages 2-5) and an adult will meet at the Center one Friday each month from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. for fun, hands-on nature activities. We will explore bugs, trees, nuts, and birds this fall. Dates are Sept. 27, Oct. 18, Nov. 15, and Dec. 6. Price is $15.00 per child for all four sessions or $4.00 per session. Silver Hikes - These walks are for ages 50+. We ll do a little stretching, some walking, and learn a little bit about the great outdoors along the way! Our hikes can be modified for different fitness levels. Hikes are once a week on Mondays from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. starting Sept. 16 through Oct. 21. No hike on Columbus Day. Hikes are $2 each. Please register for your first hike. Contact Director/Outdoor Educator, Christy Ganson, at director@metamoraparks.org with any questions. We can also arrange field trips for schools, boy and girl scouts, and homeschool groups. Gospel Choir Performance The Snyder Village Choir concert this fall will be an encore performance of their most memorable moments. It will be a light-hearted review of the songs they sang and the things they have done over the past ten years. It s music with a message in their unique way. This special 10th Anniversary Concert is open to the public and will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, There is no charge to attend. Halloween Contest and Race On October 26, 2013, the Germantown Hills Fire Department will be hosting a 5K Race, Kids Halloween Costume Contest and Party, and a celebration of their 50th anniversary. Registration forms and details for the The Fire-Rescue Challenge 5,000 Meter/3.1mile Run/Walk and 0.66 mile Kids Fun Run can be picked up at the Germantown Hills Fire Department and online at www. germantownhillsfd.com/communityevents.html. Entrants are encouraged to register before race day. All runners receive a free pancake breakfast after the race and all entries postmarked by October 7th receive a shirt. Registration for the 7th Annual Halloween Costume Contest is from 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. with judging to begin at 5:45 p.m. Come out and enjoy food and drinks, a pumpkin carving contest (drop off at 2:00 p.m.), Flint the Fire Truck, and fun and games for the kids. MYSA Basketball Registrations It s not too late to register for MYSA Basketball! Registration forms are available online at mysa.mghsports. org. Students in 1st grade may participate in the instructional league and students in 2nd through 8th grade may participate in In-House leagues. Registration for these leagues are open until Saturday, October 19, Travel leagues are available for students in 3rd through 5th grades and league rosters are wrapping up by September 29, However, if there is space available on a team, registrations will be accepted up to October 19.

Pancake & Sausage Breakfast The St. Mary of Lourdes Men s Club will hold their Pancake & Sausage Breakfast from 7:00 a.m - noon on Sunday, October 6, The breakfast will be held at St. Mary of Lourdes Parish Center on 424 Lourdes Church Road. Sausage orders can be picked up the day of the breakfast from 7:00 a.m. - noon. 33rd Annual Band Invitational On Saturday, October 12, 2013, marching bands will envelope the Village of Metamora with band members, directors, parents and marching band enthusiasts. For 33 years, Metamora bands have hosted marching bands from throughout Illinois and the Midwest, featuring a fascinating blend of artistic movement, a variety of musical styles from classical to original compositions, and colors that wow audiences of young and old. Returning to the show and always a showstopper is the Rich Central Marching Band, a traditional southern-style, show-style band! This year, Metamora bands have teamed up with the Midwest Percussion Cooperative to present a drum line competition featuring all of the percussion sections from the competing bands. The drum line portion of the day will run side by side with the field portion. The Metamora invitational is actually two competitions in one. Smaller bands begin the show competing with bands of similar size, and like their larger counter parts, are awarded a Grand Champion for the smaller classes. The show begins at 3:00 p.m., with the Metamora Redbird Marching Band taking the field at 9:00 p.m. Tickets prices are $5 for adults, $3 senior citizens, and $2 for students.
