TALE-WHEELVIEW By: President Tom McDowell Not much of a tale-wheel view this Our Cooking trailer is in the Morton month. We had a fantastic gathering at Villa Building at Bucks Airport. Our plan (Bill Deli Catering for our 2017 Awards Banquet. We Christensen and I) is to remove the axle and had close to 40 members and guests. hitch assembly, drop the box with it's current The food was stepped up quite a bunch. frame down on the newly purchased trailer that It cost a bit more, but it was outstanding. The plan is to get it up and running for a trial missed this one, you missed a good one. breakfast at Bucks in May followed by a Welding Anyone who wanted to, brought their own demo after the breakfast. Guess it wasn't so bad, It ain't International Falls, where the temp hit like -38 degrees and Erie, PA where they had like 5 feet of snow in a couple days. The highlight of the event was the awarding of the certificates and pins to those who make this Chapter so successful. Thank you to Bob Keller for a solid back up as the Vice President. Thank you also for the help in setting up and breaking down after the banquet. Jim Naphas could not make the event that we had to postpone. He never slips when it comes to getting the meeting notes straight and assuring we have adequate insurance coverage. Dan Marchetti is doing a great job of keeping the money in our account straight. With all this, we are lucky to have an Executive Board that keeps their eyes on what we do. We were approved to purchase a sound system similar to what the Professional DJ's use. Again, Bob Keller saved our chapter a bunch of money and we showed off this new purchase that night. They will have multiple uses in coming years with a money saving each time we use it.

YOUNGEAGLESYOUTHPROTECTION By: Young Eagles Coordinator Mark Schmid Hello Members, After the 75 degree February day that the last chapter meeting was on, I began to get spring fever! The weather was so nice that after the meeting we sat in my hangar and had some pilot beverages in short sleeves with the door open. Nice weather is just around the corner, and so is Young Eagles Last year, despite being dogged by poor weather, we were still able to give over thirty children airplane rides. One of the kids who we flew loved it so much she has joined the Civil Air Patrol! We have a great team for our events and I am looking forward to an even more productive year. In recent years the Young Eagles program has taken steps to ensure the safety of our guests by implementing a background check and training. It is now required for all pilots, and ground instructors (as well as other volunteers) to complete this. It is quite simple, and it is all done through EAA?s website. If you are volunteering for any Young Eagles event, please take 10 minutes to complete the training. While Young Eagles doesn?t explicitly require some of the ground positions to be trained, it is still a good idea and gives us additional flexibility (not to mention a way to cover our collective behinds!) If you have never completed the training before, follow Part 1. If you have completed it and want to review your status or re train, skip down to Part 2. PART 1 If you are a chapter member, you should have a current membership with EAA National. The training is located on their website. If you haven?t registered for an account on the website, you?ll need to do that, though most of us already have an account set up. Have your EAA number handy! Once you have an account on the website go to then click?volunteer resources?. On the next page, click Youth Protection policy and follow the directions! That's it! You will need to complete both the training and the background check. Keep in mind it takes a few weeks for the EAA to finish the background check.

YOUNGEAGLESYOUTHPROTECTION(CONT.) By: Young Eagles Coordinator Mark Schmid PART 2 If you have already completed the training, and need to renew or check your status follow these steps. First, go towww.eaa.org and click sign in. Finally, you?ll see this page. If you are current, you will see the expiration date and links to re-complete the training and background check. While you are here please click?print certificate? and save the file. You can give it to me in person, or it to me at eaa216youngeagles@gmail.com Next, enter your sign in information. If you have any questions, Please call or me! eaa216youngeagles@gmail.com or Thank you for all of your hard work! Scroll to the lower part of the?my Account? page after sign in, and click?go to training?. CRUSTY OLD FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR QUOTE OF THE M ONTH: "You do have feet, don't you? Step on the ball!"

SHOWMEYOURS,ANDI'LLSHOWYOUMINE EAA members show off their projects. Send your projects to Bob Cooper M em or ies The Courier Post newspaper publishes an article headed "Ever Wonder?" Recently, "Ever Wonder?" covered the area of Echelon of Voorhees. Some will recognize the name as it relates to the Echelon mall. The article picked up on the early happenings of Echelon as the Echelon Airport. For me however, the article brought back memories of an Aeronca 7AC Champ. It was 1955 that I purchased the Champ from Earl Champion. Earl was a builder from Williamstown. Had flown the aircraft, until the fabric failed and was out of license. Earl had disassembled the Champ and and stored it in his garage. Earl was not happy about selling the Champ, but realized his building business was keeping him quite BUSY! I paid Earl $ and loaded the Champ on a truck and relocated the project to my shop. The project required a complete recover job, which took almost a year. The first flight was on November 11, The Champ was a real JOY to fly. Tons of Boy Scouts received their first flight in the Champ. The forerunner of the Young Eagles program. Now back to Echelon Airport. The airport was a busy place. It was also home to the local CAA office. I don't remember why, but on March 14, 1957, I had reason to fly to Echelon. I approached the airport with caution, flew a wide circle around the airport, and landed. On arrival, a gentlemen with a tie, asked me to stop into his office after I had finished my business. as it turned out, this fellow was a CAA person, and reprimanded my approach to landing. That is, my pattern work was sloppy, as I had not entered the pattern on a 45 degree approach to landing. So - you can be assured - to this day, I always enter the traffic pattern with a 45 degree approach to landing. Not too many years later, the airport was sold to developers and the area is now the Echelon Mall. Where is the Champ today? - Written by EAA Lifetime member Bob Cooper, February 28, 2003 This is not the Champ that was flown by Bob Cooper at the time. However, this is the same model, just to give the idea of what a Champ looks like.

MEETING MINUTES?FEBRUARY 21, 2018 LOCATION: The meeting took place in the Cooper Building at Cross Keys Airport. ATTENDANCE: There were a total of 23 members in attendance including our newest member, Sarosh Pasricha. Sarosh recently moved from Bergen County to Swedesboro and joined our chapter. A different set of eyes can pick up things you over look. 2. Don?t take any one person?s word on any issue, i.e. Maintenance, Flying, etc. Most people want to say and do the right thing, but don?t want to look incompetent.
