5 VOLUME III, ISSUE III Page 5 Poetry Roses are RED, Violets are BLUE School is lame and so is beef stew I spit hot fire but I m not a rapper You beating me. Now that s a beef steak Now I m about to take a break Bacon with grits, oooh so yummy Now I m eating bear gummies Chocolate drop, ooh kill em CHICKEN NUGGETS!!! We rode around the hills Trekking on the four-wheeler We found black berries and picked them We took them to the house in a bucket on the back We washed them and ate some They were pretty good too I was about eight But I don't think you do I know it was real, Daddy, There was a band-aid on your head T-shirt and jeans, you still made me wear the helmet instead Written by: Nick Hopkins But you think it was a dream You think I made it up We dodged the buttercups and ticks It was just a little while after you came home. It s not your fault you don t re member Daddy, I know But it makes me feel alone Because, that day, you don t remember That day you ll never know And I ll never forget Because, Daddy, you came home. -Memories Written by Anonymous As time bestowed unto us starts to gray We take what thou hath inspir d being in heart And when our vision starts to go astray Time begins to make its cycle anew When we lay our soul on life s final resting We being to reveal what is our tale Was the resolve worth all of the testing? Yet are we destined to reveal our fail? However come our immortal question We accept our answer that God hast given And with no desire for restoration We fall into a final place of haven Within this final rest we see things new All as beautiful as the morning dew. Written by Dane Fowler Life, she says, is so unfair. The stars above her shine so bright a shooting star falls she crosses her fingers tight. I wish I may, I wish I might the first star, I see tonight, star light, star bright please have the wish, I wish tonight. Days go by, her hope fades. Weeks go by, is she too late? Her hope is gone. I am nothing. she says. Just a face in the crowd. Oh no, she s not she s a rainbow hidden in the clouds! Written by Lilli Johnson The next FHS home basketball game is December 10 against Community. The girls game starts at 6:00 and the boys at 7:30.
6 THE PROWL FAYETTEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL 1800 WILSON PARKWAY FAYETTEVILLE, TENNESSEE Phone: Fax: FCSBOE.ORG Our mission is: To instill in our students a life long love for learning. To emphasize academic excellence and preparation for life after graduation. To foster both the ability and desire to make a positive difference in an ever changing global society....the Fearless, the Faithful, the Future Veteran s Day! On November 11, 2013, Fayetteville High School conducted the Veteran s day ceremony to commemorate all those who have served or are serving in the military. Our school would like to thank Mrs. Dorris for conducting such a beautiful and heartfelt ceremony. We want to also thank Mr. Powelson and the band, Mrs. Steakley and the chorus, and the following speakers: Andrew Lawson, Derrek Moore, Teddare Runnels, Taylor Bryan, Summer Shelton, Drew Bradford, Evan Thornton, Noah Young, Maggie Cunningham, and Sarah Lawson for their contributions. Words can not tell you how thankful we are for the ones who have served and are serving this country. These selfless acts by our soldiers who have risked everything to give people freedom, will not go unnoticed; a high price to pay by many who lost their lives defending our country. Thank you to everyone who served and continues to serve today. Article written by Haley Martin
