It is our hope that girls golf will becoming a conference sport and we will have more girls represent us in the future. We are hopeful that girls soccer will be a conference sport...if so, we have a great opportunity to win in our conference in the future. The boys soccer team is in a rebuilding phase and they finished the season strong winning 2 of their last 4 games. Our volleyball girls are trying to complete their first winning season in years. Cross country will be running in the sectional. At the conference meet we had an individual win in the boys and girls meet. HS football celebrated their 1st win in school history. Our football teams are finishing up their 2nd season competing at the JV level in preparation for our first varsity season, next year. Come out and support all of our athletes as they compete this Fall. GO PACERS SCHS: Automated Answering System When calling the high school, you will hear an automated answering system welcoming you. 2 SPORTS ~~~~ SPORTS ~~~~ SPORTS ARCHERy ~ BASEBALL ~ BASKETBALL ~ BOWLING ~ CROSS COUNTRY~ football ~ GOLF ~ Soccer ~ SOFTBALL ~ SWIMMING ~ TRACK ~ VOLLEYBALL ~ WRESTLING SCHS MAKES HISTORY WITH FIRST FOOTBALL WIN Thanks to everyone in Pacer Nation for supporting our boys as they climbed that mountain to a historic first win earlier this season. The game against Gallatin County started fast for the Pacers as they scored a touchdown with a 2 point conversion. Gallatin County came on strong with only 33 seconds left in the first half to tie the game 8-8. The second half opened with the Pacers getting a stop on downs and forcing the Wildcats to punt. At this point the game was a back and forth affair. A huge break in the game came when Mikey Gatto hit Hunter Hayes with a perfect pass which enabled Hayes to take the ball for an 85 yard touchdown, followed by a 2 point conversion. Will Pike had a big interception which turned the momentum of the game over to the Pacers and they never looked back. They were able to sneak in another touchdown and ended the game with a win of 22-8 over the Wildcats. Thanks to everyone for the reception on the way home through town, for the help in making this and many future nights possible for our student athletes, and for believing in these fine young men throughout this climb to our first win. As I said on the field after the game, this is not an ending point, but rather the beginning of many more great things to come with the support of Pacer nation by our side all the way. The young men who have stuck with the program throughout the course of this year, deserve the support and respect of everyone around them for being so physically and mentally tough. Despite illnesses, injuries, struggles with practice facilities, and lack of experience, the members of the football team have continued to fight, learn, and rise above the road blocks along the way to begin cementing the foundation of a football program that will last far after their playing days are over. 3 Pacers help change a boy s life A very emotional game took place recently between the Pacers and the Scottsburg Warriors. Thanks to the Pacers, Coach Jessop, and the staff, a young man was able to play out his dreams as a football player. Warrior, Dylan Campbell has Down Syndrome but this didn t deter him from coming to every practice and attending every game. Dylan scored his first career touchdown in the game that night. Even though the Pacers lost, everyone went home with a smile!! The Switzerland County High School Mighty Marching Pacers completed another successful marching season. The Pacers took first place in both Band and Guard at the Seymour Oktoberfest parade on October 4th. GREAT JOB PACERS!! October,2014 Page 3

Work Transition Class Has Busy Schedule The Work Transition Class is off to a very busy year. Five students are attending the Southeastern Career Center, and other students are employed at various businesses in the community. On Tuesday mornings, we volunteer to walk dogs and cats at the Animal Shelter. We have also worked preparing the Thiebaud Homestead for an open house. Students are also learning to cook, clean, do laundry, and do craft projects in the classroom! ~Sharon Hansel Page 4 The Pacer Post lectronic Newspaper

7 Nick Vujicic visits Madison High School The SCSC student body, grades 7-12, attended an assembly on September 10 at the Madison High School to listen to motivational speaker Nick Vujicic. Nick was born without arms or legs but was determined not to let this stop him from living life to its fullest. He has proven that you can reach your goals in life if you try. ONCE UPON A TIME... I ROAMED THESE HALLS Michelle White graduated from SCHS in She lives with her husband Randy and two sons, Samuel and Jackson in Switzerland County. Mrs. White remembers that big hair was in style and MTV had just started when she was in school. She rocked to her favorite band, Styx.
