1 The newsletter that keeps you up to date Dear All, I am pleased to say that to date, the trial of the new BG London Online Entry System (OES) has proved extremely successful. Having been one of two pilot Regions since early 2014, we have successfully run the London Men's Open and Tony Johnson competition with all entries coming through the OES. We are now putting the system through its toughest challenge yet as we bring in the GfA Floor and Vault entries to the system. At present it is holding strong with other 1350 entries from over 20 clubs. Credit/Debit Card Payments Up until now, London Gymnastics has always accepted cheques and Bank Transfers, however with the new OES the only payment option will be Credit and Debit Card. To date this seems to have caused significantly less issues than anticipated. This type of payment is now not uncommon when making online payments, and indeed cheques and invoiced BAC's transfers do cause significantly more administration for our Competition Organisers - and with stray payments ending up in the wrong accounts! We realise for some you may have to make arrangements to pay using the debit/credit card, but we know it is not an insurmountable problem. Likewise we are working with BG to see if we can introduce a PayPal Option, which would allow clubs to link payments straight to their Club Bank Accounts. To clarify, if you do not pay via Credit or Debit Card, you will not be able to enter London Gymnastics Competitions. Any payment charges are subsumed by London Gymnastics and not the payee. Ensure your qualifications and membership are up to date One of the biggest benefits of the Online Entry System (OES) is that it checks qualifications and membership at the point of entry. It does mean though that if your records are not up to date on GymNet and you don't meet the criteria set by the Competition Organiser, you will not be able to proceed to the next stage of entry. All coaches are required to have their qualifications, safeguarding & protecting children qualification and DBS (previously CRB) with fully paid up membership in order to be accepted within the system. You should also check your gymnasts information on gymnet. Are their names correctly spelt, dates of birth accurate and the correct gender entered? Judging levies The new system won't collect judges levies / cheques in advance, but instead if you have not met your judging commitments, the Competition Organiser will post a fine to your club account in GymNet. You will not be able to enter further competitions until the fine has been cleared (paid). We are getting advice for those who run their own accounts and may have to provide invoices for tax purposes. 2 Into 2015 So we plan to continue our phased roll out and assuming a successful GfA entry, all TC's will set up their competitions using the new OES for 2015 and beyond. Throughout this process I do welcome your feedback on chairman@london-gymnastics.com We really do see this as a game changer system for London Region and hope our members will see the benefits to. The British Gymnastics Events Technical Team and Customer Service Department has worked tirelessly with us to achieve this system. Helping to deal with queries, making amendments to the system and working in partnership with London every step of the way. 3 GYMNASTIQUE MAGIQUE ~ DISNEYLAND PARIS London Clubs took Paris by Storm A & V Rhythmic Team won 3rd place in the junior group category for their Candy Man routine in Gymnastique Magique, competition hosted by the International Festival of Dance & Performing Arts (IFDPA) in Disneyland, Paris. The standard of all the performers were high and A & V girls put on a fantastic show, executing competition and show case routines beautifully. Gemstones had an amazingly successful weekend in Paris, congratulations again to all who took part we are so proud of you. Gemstones won the following: Disney Group Gymnastics - 1st place Open Group Gymnastics -2nd place Disney Junior Solo - 1st Place (Amirah) - 2nd Place (Millie) Disney Junior Duet - 2nd Place (Annabelle and Scarlett) Open Junior Duet - 1st Place (Rhian and Sienna) Disney Senior Solo - 1st Place (Bella) - 2nd Place (Saffron) Open Senior Solo - 1st Place (Anais) - 2nd Place (Hermione) On Sunday the girls aged 8 and over took part in the Disney Pre-Parade along the park's Main Street, USA. The routine has been specially prepared by Disney Choreographers bringing everyone together for a final magical experience. As a last minute entry a few months ago I decided to enter girl girls into the dance competition using one of our routines from the showcase we were performing there Group Dance Open Entertainment - 1st place If these articles have inspired you to want to take part in 2015 then visit For further details and how to book your place. Gemstones were also chosen to take part in the Disney parade, and during the final rehearsal over the weekend against many other dance schools and gymnastics clubs we were selected to lead the parade out. Gemstones also pulled in a huge crowd during our 25min showcase on the main Disney stage which went brilliantly and also had tons of fun on rides all weekend. All in all an extremely successful weekend for our first international competition, I couldn't be more proud of the girls who took part. Congratulations again to all of the participants.

4 RUSHMOOR ROSEBOWL INTERNATIONAL 2014 CONGRATULATIONS also to another London team, Heathrow G.C. who also entered this Championship and won Gold in the Team Section. (Pictured) Meilitsa Abram Foster/Maia Anderson Tia Andrews/India Sale/Sara Finn The Rushmoor Rosebowl Championship, in its 33 rd year is Britain s most famous and longest running Invitational with teams flying over the Atlantic to compete. Teams included Champions from Canada and KTZ Bern from Switzerland, with Great Britain National Junior Team, England A and B team, Regional and club Teams. Against strong opposition the London Team won Gold in the Regional Section for the 5 th Year running by over 3.00 whole marks, even with a couple of falls on beam and one on floor. But their routines were so well executed and beautifully presented on beam and floor which gave the team such high marks. Sara Finn from City of London qualified for the Vault Apparatus finals on the Sunday coming 5 th. Well done Sara. Reserve was Jade Lewis who was given the opportunity to compete in the All Stars team for an individual score by going around in the Canadian team who only had 4 in their team. In the overall Championship London scored 0.50 behind England B team and came 5 th out of 15 teams. Excellent results, and many congratulations to you all. Lisa Mason won the AA championship against 80 top gymnasts with a score of She also qualified for 3 apparatus finals and won Gold on Vault, Silver on Bars and Silver on Floor. A display of artistic excellence. Many congratulations Lisa. Laura Mitchell qualified for Beam Apparatus finals and won Gold with a routine that flowed artistically and Ciara Bunce qualified for Bars, Floor and Beam where she won the Bronze medal. Congratulations Laura and Ciara. Heathrow in the overall score came 2 nd behind Great Britain, and with London coming 5 th, it was certainly a day of celebration for the Region. 5 CLUBS CELEBRATE TRAMPOLINE CHAMPIONSHIP SUCCESS The Trampoline Technical Committee hosted its first London Championships on Sunday 19 October at Harlington Sports Centre. 129 gymnasts from 11 clubs competed having earned their place from four London Regional qualifying events held during January - May. The event saw 48 Novice, 39 Elementary, 32 Intermediate and 10 Advanced gymnasts compete with Heathrow, Queensmead and Skywalkers topping the medal table with 8 each. The London Closed also took place with 18 gymnasts entering. The medals were won by. Ladies 1st Asha Chaudhry from Heathrow 2nd Jemima Bradley from London Trampoline Academy Men 3rd Danielle Hurford from London Trampoline Academy 1st Anthony Ottley from Skywalkers 2nd James Dowrich from Heathrow 3rd Jack Sheils from Heathrow The technical committee would like to thank all the judges, volunteers, coaches and gymnasts for attending and supporting this new event. The London Regionals, London Championships and London Closed will return in 2015 after all clubs were positive towards the format. 7 CONGRATULATIONS TO LONDON GIRLS AT THE NATIONAL FINALS VOLUNTARY LEVELS 4,3 AND 2 Congratulations to Level 3 Team who came 5 th overall with Samanta Katkevica from East London winning the Bronze medal in the AA championship with individual placings of 1 st of Vault, 2 nd on A. Bars. The combined scores of the National Compulsory Levels in the Spring with this competition, Samanta again won the Bronze medal. A star in the making. Well done to her coaches Barbara dasilva and Lorraine Atkinson. Also in the team were Alice McLoughlin, Leila Bennadi and Lauren Watkins all from Heathrow, their coaches were Aibhlin McAvera and Leigh Rogers. Congratulations to all for an excellent competition with no falls. Voluntary Age Group Level 3 Team Our Level 4 Team all age 9 years and their first National Competition were all excited but a little nervous. They started their competition on Vault with a couple of minor errors but then continued very focused on the task ahead of them. There were 3 rounds in this level, we competed in round 2 and at the end were lying in 2nd position. After a nail biting wait, the team maintained their position and won the Silver Medal. Congratulations to Alina Cofie from Hendon G.C., coach Alun Leach, China Mattis from East London G.C., coach Barbara dasilva, Ami O Sullivan from Harrow G.C. coach Michelle Guiseris and Alia Leat from Heathrow G.C., coach Leigh Rogers. Reserve for the team was Akielah Ashman-Howe from Greenwich Royals, coach Kaylie Reakes. Akielah competed as an individual in the first round. Again excellent results and no falls. Alina Cofie came 4 th in the AA score and in the combined scores with National Compulsories in the Spring came 8 th. China Mattis came 8 th in the AA score and 9 th in the combined score.
