The rain made the fields wet and muddy. Just ask Paul, he was the first one to be pulled out. Leaving on Sunday, many had to be pushed out because of the mud. Some 30 + people joined us for dinner on Wednesday night at Daniella's Steak House. Many vendors filled the Center of Progress building. And lots of seminars to attend. With our fancy veils, some couples joined the group to renew their wedding vows for the largest number of couples in a rally renewing their vows. 2 President s Report Paul Hallagan President@NewYorkCentrals.com Hello everyone Here we are at the height of the rally season, with another great rally over, and another on the way. Many thanks to Bev & Mike Vrabel as we all had a great time. With all the great things that happened at the rally, one of the most memorable things for Sandy & I was getting stuck in the mud twice (on the way in & on the way out). The next thing we need to talk about is the upcoming election. The election will be held at the September rally. With this election I will step down and the members will elect a new president. I hope many members will show up for the elections. Look to the web page for the proposed slate of officers and location of the September rally & time of meeting for election. Hope to see a great turn out. The next rally will be hosted at Association Island, by Chris Charney & Lyn Gordon. Hope to see everyone there. Your President, Paul Hallagan 1 st Vice President s Report Rich Burrell 1VP@NewYorkCentrals.com Despite the rainy weather, the Rally in Syracuse was a success with 3012 RVs in attendance. The Centrals caravanned in with 14 coaches and another 8 coaches attended the rally. In between the raindrops we were able to have a couple of happy hours (of course) and the ladies were able to have a couple of card games, one of which exiled me to our bedroom. The McCoys, Zakorchevnoys, Hallagans, Vrabels, Brookins, Thompsons and Burrells renewed their marriage vows during the attempt at the rally to set a Guinness record for the number of couples renewing their vows in a single ceremony. Among those participating were couple who have been married 65 years and another couple who were married 5 weeks earlier. As we head into the heart of our rally season I want to encourage all members to attempt to come to at least one of the rallies. It would be good to see some of you who have not been able to attend recent rallies, so check the rally schedule and try to get to one of them. It s a pleasure to welcome Marty and Butch Charpentier back into the chapter. We saw them at the Oswego rally last year and they decided to rejoin our group. Glad to have you with us. We also gave out 4 5 applications to folks at the rally, so hopefully we will see more new members joining us soon. Hope we ll be seeing you at the July rally, til then drive safely. Rich Secretary s Report Charlotte Burrell Secretary@NewYorkCentrals.com We had a great time at The Rally in spite of heavy rain on several days. There were 22 New York Central coaches in attendance, although we were not all parked together. The fairgrounds were so muddy that coaches were parked at Destiny Mall. We found a way to have a great time with happy hours, games, cards, meals and fun, in addition to great seminars and shopping. Unfortunately, several coaches had to be helped out of the mud, but the Good Sam Volunteers were wonderful in helping. I am looking forward to the upcoming rallies and hope to see good turn outs at all of them. I have never been to Association Island but have heard what a nice campground it is. If you would like to attend and haven t yet made reservations, call the campground as some sites near ours may still be available. Start planning now for the October rally in Pennsylvania we had a great time at GEAR last year and will again this year. White Oaks is requiring a deposit by September 1, so call and reserve your site now! I m hoping to have some more planned activities in addition to crafts and flea markets. Charlotte
3 . Know anybody that is in sickness or distress? In need of our aid or sympathy? Call or Charlotte. 2 nd Vice President s Report (315) Dan McCoy 2VP@NewYorkCentrals.com A lot can be said about the June rally at the New York State Fairgrounds. A few descriptive words that come to mind: fun friendship food entertainment prizes merchandise ceremonies seminars new RVs tow trucks mud rain. I think we would all do it again! Good Sam put on a very nice rally and the NYS Fairgrounds were more than adequate, although Destiny USA came in handy. The weather could have been better but to my knowledge no one in our group dissolved with the rain and we became very good at dealing with the soft grounds and the mud. The prizes given to everyone, except in our group were outstanding. Camping World had big pockets and very nice prizes were given. Four pair of round trip airfare tickets to anywhere in the US; 3KW Honda generators; a cart to be filled at the store with anything (the past record was in excess of $7K in merchandise); many merchandise certificates $1000, $500, $150, $100, $50; camping chairs, grills, TVs, bicycles, but no new RV s and no prizes for the New York Centrals. A few members came home with lighter pockets from everything they purchased and a few of us with bigger bellies from all the food. There was a marriage renewal of vows ceremony that was intended to be a Guinness World Book record, but we will not know if the record was set for several months until Guinness confirms the numbers. We had fun with the event and no one took it serious. The pictures on the WEB site will tell the story of our departure procedures. Just look at Jerry Rogers who I think tells the story in one picture and he was only an observer. Go to the WEB site: for additional rally pictures We are looking forward to our joint July rally with the 1000 Islanders. Make you reservation and pack those rigs, see you at Association Island, Henderson Harbor NY. I m sure those 1000 Islanders will tickle our funny bones. The August rally in Oswego requires everyone to make their own reservations directly with the campgrounds. Be sure you ID yourselves with the New York Centrals to get our camping rate. Just a few words about our September rally. Sue and I are still finalizing our plans, but the we do know - - DO NOT call the RV park to make reservations, all reservations will be made thru us at a cost of only $28.00 per night. Part of the September rally theme will be Show and Tell. We would like everyone to show demonstrate tell about their talents, hobbies or collections. We would like those whose hobbies involve making something to donate one item to the chapter. We will auction it off with the money going into the treasury. This early warning now gives you a chance to develop a hobby or talent (i.e. learn to play the base horn or tuba, collect mushrooms, or build a widget). Quote of the day Red Green Love is blind. Marriage is an eye-opener.
4 From the National Director Bart Barton We had a great time at The Rally at the NYS Fairgrounds in June despite some rain and a few sunken coaches. Many thanks to Bev and Mike Vrabel for coordinating this. It was great to see everybody again and to welcome two new-old friends, Marty and Butch Charpentier who were members years ago and have rejoined. We hope to see you folks a lot more. We are still not getting much information about the Northeast Area Motorhome Association. There will not be a Northeast Area Rally in Vermont this year. We may know more after the annual meeting in Gillette. Elaine and I will not be at the July rally but are looking forward to seeing you all in August.
