7 EXPLANATION OF NOVICE AND OPEN TWO CATEGORIES The addition of the Novice Two and Open Two Categories is an effort to "Level the Playing Field". In both classes people who have just started playing or have only played for awhile, are competing against more skilled players, making it impossible for them to place. This is an effort to not get them discouraged and allow them to compete with others at the same playing level. The Judges will place competitors into these two categories SANDY CAMERON MEMORIAL TROPHY In April of this year, the Fiddle World lost a good friend. Sandy Cameron had the vision to start Emma Lake Fiddle Camp and was a staunch supporter of all old time fiddling. In Memory of Sandy the winner of the Novice One Category at the John Arcand Fiddle Fest will also receive the Sandy Cameron Memorial Trophy in the hope they continue to fiddle and keep the dream alive. 7
