1 March, 2012 Newsletter Printing and postage provided by David Grego Licensed Real Estate Broker February Minutes: Call to Order, and Pledge of Allegiance: The Fishing Boating Club was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Commodore Joe Schmidt followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the club s purpose. A minute of silence followed in memory of Bill Blasius. Approval of Minutes: Minutes accepted by Ken Duffy and seconded by Bill Knickman, the minutes were unanimously approved. 3. Treasurers Report: As of December 31, 2011 the balance was reported as $ Chick made a correction on the December 31, 2011 report the balance was actually $ there was an addition mistake. Treasurers amended report was accepted by Steve Buckeridge and seconded by Joe Stickney. As of January 31, 2012 the balance was $ accepted by Bill Knickman and seconded by Marie Flood. Both treasurers reports were unanimously approved. A request from the audience would like to know how much is retained at the end of the season, $ will be retained. Another question arose asking what drained the bank account. Commodore Joe explained the cost of the Jackets last year drained most of the bank account, plus the donations made to charities and as of this time the gift of the Tervis Tumblers has not been paid. That is the reason the Clam Bake and the Wheel Barrow of Cheer are so important to raise money to keep the donations going and the club in good financial situation. 4. Commodore: Joe Schmidt asked Corky Spehrley to stand and thanked him for his work at the Post Office he was awarded the Beautification Award from the KCB Beautification Committee. Corky also volunteered to head a committee to get Volunteers for potential officers of the club. The election is in April. Clam Bake is February 20th Presidents Day and tickets for members only are $15.00 all others it is $ Buy Tickets for the Wheel Barrow of Cheer it pays for the booze and other things, tickets are 7 for $ If the dues were raised to $ we could cater everything and not have to volunteer. The jackets drained the club and we are now trying to bring the club up, 5 new fryers at $ each were purchase that is why everyone should support the club. This year at the Clam Bake there will be limited people behind the tables to make it less congested. Bill Packer stated the donations we make to charitable clubs means more to the clubs image and the public then the parties. We need a volunteer for the news letter, Gail will help who every volunteers. We also need captains for Servers, no cooking involved. There are T shirts for all volunteers. The next meeting we will make a collection for Relay for Life. The second and last reading regarding membership tournament. Any club member who hires, contracts or engages professional charter captains, guides or charter boats in an effort to enter a winning fish will be disqualified from the tournament. After questions regarding some members that are captains; does this mean they cannot participate? That is not the intent, the intent is hiring captains not members. The by Law was accepted by Bill Packer and seconded by Bob Warn and passed unanimously. 5. Vice Commodore: Peter Hines introduced Mike Lyne and his wife Shelley from Mobile Outboard Service. Shelley does welding and they are willing to work with you. He has cards if you are interested. 6. Director at Large: Bill Knickman stated there are some Tervis Tumblers left. There are people who still have not volun- teered. For Captains, Bill has a list of volunteer names. Make sure you buy Wheel Barrow of Cheer Tickets and there are still some staffs, burgees and jackets for sale. Collectors corner has shirts and hats for sale with our logo on them. 7. Skinny Water: John Albin stated Dec. and Jan. were good weather months for Fly Fishing, there is no fee, no prizes just fun. See John for more information. 8. Membership Secretary: Bob Warn stated he has a few news letters if you have not received yours. You must wear your badges to the meeting there were 30 people who did not tonight and Bob has the 2012 stickers for them. Captain Hooks like to see us and buy gas from them. The tip jar is not for the bartenders it is to replenish the bar. Cindy Casey volunteered to take over the News Letter. Thank you. 9. Recording Secretary: No report. 10. Tournament Director: John Fruhmorgen wanted to thank the people that helped with the Fish Fry at the Elks it raised over $ There will be a free for all come out and fish 5 different fishes, and bring it to Captain Hooks. There will be an Offshore and Inshore merge either or, 3rd Generation donated $ $ for prizes. Outlaw Fisheries is another good sponsor, they gave out coupons and some one went to them with 5 coupons, this is taking advantage of our sponsors. The silent auction is tonight and all proceeds go to charity. Last year the club raised over $ John s wife Carol has been ill, Florence Rosenboro, Carmine Abbatiello and Tammy all pitched in and helped John. Thank you. John Fruhmorgen presented $ to Howard Tichauer for first prize biggest winner plus a shirt from Collectors Corner. In Feb. the Free for All is sponsored by Kevin Spates from Building Solutions any one can enter this tournament. The following all received $50.00 per winning catch: Peter Hines, Dolphin, Jim Teague, Wahoo & Yellowtail, John Luciano, Cero, Tania Teke, Spanish, Steve Buckeridge, Mangrove & King, Dave Burnet, Mutton, Glenn Baron, Cobia and Charlie Carmack, Tuna. 11. Old Business: Tom Casey has a sign up sheet for any one interested in the Summer Calcutta. All he needs is name and New Business: Sue Redding will do boat inspections and there is a boat safety course if you are interested please see Sue after the meeting. Denise from Captain Hooks stated they have Sunset Cruises and a romantic one for Valentines with Chocolate. They also have procedures for saving lives and CPR courses. Gary Cline is looking for 10 people to go to the Miami Boat show tickets are $50.00 on Feb. 16 and he will leave at 7 am, if interested call Drawing: Ron Randel a member won the 50/50 drawing in the amount of $ Thanks to everyone who made this meeting a success. 2 TOURNAMENT NEWS Hats off to Jim Teague who won the off shore Outlaw Tournament with a Wahoo and Peter Hines Lb Dolphin came in 2nd. Howard Tichaer won the Yellowtail BB&T tournament with a 3.8 Yellowtail and Jim Teague came in 2nd with a 3.5 Tail. This Month is March Madness sponsored by Jennifer & Kevin Munden owners of Sanibel Glass & Mirror. The 2 categories will be 1st place to the best fish offshore and 1st place to the the best inshore by state % to a Florida record. Lets go fishing 2 more months. Thanks to all who helped set a new record raising $1800 for our 3rd Annual Charity Silent Auction. Our local charities will be thankful.
