3 The Mooseletter VOLUME 5, ISSUE 1 January 2018 Brothers and Co-workers, Happy New Year 2018!!! It is truly hard to believe that the holidays are over and we are starting a new year. But here we are together at the Ashland Moose Family Center, and we are on track to have an amazing year. I want to personally thank each and every person for your continued support of OUR lodge, and hope that 2018 finds everyone in good health, and ready to face all the great things in store for OUR lodge this year was truly a year of ups and downs, we had several of our Brothers and Co-workers pass on, and numerous sick and distressed. Lets keep them and their families all in our thoughts and prayers for the new year. We have numerous activities planned, and numerous in the "works", be sure to check your newsletter closely and watch for all the flyers, as in 2018, communication with our members is our #1 priority. We will utilize , the newsletter, and Facebook to get the word on the street as quickly as possible. As we begin the new year, you may have noticed something in my letter, when referring to the lodge, I refer to OUR lodge, that is because this is OUR lodge. And as a member of OUR lodge, I challenge each and everyone of your to get involved, in any way possible. We have so many activities planned, we have bingo 2 times a week, we have Friday night dinners, there is always something going on and sometimes it's that extra pair of hands that is needed to get the job done. My hope is that the new year will inspire everyone to be more active in OUR lodge, and the first step, attend meetings, you can find out so much about OUR lodge just by coming to a meeting. I look forward to seeing everyone in OUR lodge. Have a very happy New Year. Remember if we work together in OUR lodge, there is nothing we can not accomplish. 5 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Talk about a new year's even celebration, well the Ashland Moose was the place to be. A party was had by all who attended. Great food, friends and fellow lodge members from all around had a wonderful time. We partied till it was time for breakfast and then we had breakfast at the lodge. A big Thank you to our Social Quarter's Manager who put this celebration together. Awesome job Eddie Gibson. I am so happy to see all the participation going on at our lodge. It is great to see people coming in. We have a lot of our members coming back that haven't been in a while, we are happy to see you. I have seen a lot of new faces as well, and I say to you "welcome to our lodge". We are all glad you have joined us here in Ashland. Feel free to attend meeting on Wednesday's, see any one of our Board of Officers for meeting nights and times. We would love to hear your comments or suggestions. There have been so many positive changes over the past few months. I no longer see the negativity in that was lingering in the social quarters, only positive words of encouragement and suggestions for future plans to come. We have become a more kid friendly environment. The kids rooms is safe and full of activities for our children to enjoy, which makes parents feel a little more relaxed to enjoy their time here and socialize with other members. In December we enjoyed a Christmas Story with The Finney's. Everyone who came out had a wonderful time and I cannot say enough about the music, I felt like I was in church. We all sang along and just enjoyed to moment. Jim and Polly Davis celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with us, Congratulations. We also had our Christmas Party, this was absolutely a great time shared with everyone who attended. Santa and Mrs. Claus made a surprise visit from the North Pole. Santa even had enough time to read a story to the children and gave each little boy and girl a special gift. And on a side note, congratulations to Theresa Willson for winning the Ugly Sweater Contest, HANDS DOWN. Nothings says ugly sweater, better than her creation did. As we begin the New Year, it's time to hit the ground with a running start. The Moosehaven Centennial Project is in full swing. As a Chapter we are required to make a donation per member. The cost for this 3 year project is $6 per member per year for 3 years, or just $18. We could like to send in our donation before the deadline of March If you would like to donate you can bring your check to any member of the Board, or drop it in the mail to our P.O. Box 1252, Ashland, VA , payable to Ashland WOTM Thank you in advance for your support of this project. In January the Ways and Means Committee, presented by Junior Grad Regent Brenda Dickens will hold a special meeting on January 14, see flyer for more info, please come and join us on this special day. There are numerous flyers in your newsletter be sure to check them all our and come participate in all our functions, we have something for everyone.
