2 Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies The Arcade Area Chamber of Commerce was on hand to cut the ribbon for the official welcoming of Highwater Hobbies on Friday, July 11, Officially open on December 13, 2013 by Don Boehmer as a way to combine his passion and hobby into a business where he can share his love of water sports with others, Highwater Hobbies has seen great success thus far. Located right on Route 16 in Machias and in such close proximity to Lime Lake has proven to be a great location not just to have the kayaks seen by those passing by, but also to be able to give lessons and allow customers to try out the various types of vessels that he sells. Boehmer even encourages his customers to try out the kayak prior to purchasing, to ensure they have what will work best for them. If you are an experienced paddler that is out for the adrenaline rush or you are a beginner just looking for a nice ride along the ponds and streams, Highwater Hobbies has what you are looking for. With sport kayaks, recreational kayaks, personal floatation devices and all the gear and safety equipment to go along with it, this really is a one stop shop. Chamber President Dan Hoffman said, It is great to see a younger member of the area be so committed to keeping business in his hometown. The excitement shows through when Mr. Boehmer talks about his store and we wish him all the best luck!

3 One of Arcade s longest running hair salons recently changed names and owners. Olivia Lawrence has taken over the former Joe s Styling Center on Main Street effective May 1 st, The salon is now called Downtown Design and a ribbon cutting ceremony was held on July 17 th hosted by the Arcade Area Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the new ownership, staff and remodeled interior. Downtown Design offers the community a full salon experience with wonderful spa pedicure chairs, tanning beds, numerous stylists trained in all facets of hair care from wash and sets to perms to colors and the newest trends of feathers and ombre coloring. Ms Lawrence is no stranger to the salon business. She previously worked at a salon in Yorkshire and has brought some of the stylists from there with her in addition to her clientele that is excited to see the new, remodeled and larger facility. Olivia, her family, and staff invite you to experience their personal touch. We offer a lot of great products and services. Our staff is here to help you discover what works best for you. Stop in and see us. Chamber members and leaders helped to host the ribbon- cutting ceremony on Thursday. First Vice-President, Sara Mattingly, said Downtown Design is in a great location, has wonderful staff and has a lot to offer the Arcade Area. We wish Ms. Lawrence and her staff the best success.

4 July CA$H MOB White Star Thursday, July 12, White Star Inn hosted our monthly CA$H MOB. The event was a great evening. Thanks to everyone who came and supported the event. Thank you White Star for hosting!
