April 2017 By: Nancy Reid, Area Captain serving: Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole, Monroe, Montgomery, and Randolph Counties Contact information: (dbs_498) or phone: , mailing address: 906 Ihler Road, Jefferson City, MO April Showers Bring May Flowers and for baseball fans: Baseball Season Well, 3months are down for April has come in with showers so the flowers in May should look terrific. I ended March back in the black and so I m down a net loss of 5.2 pounds this year, a ¼ of the way to my 20 pound goal and ½ way to the 10# Burni Challenge toward the Million Pounds lost. So, what s your Net Loss? Are you rounding the bases toward the 10# challenge goal or are you stuck on the bench waiting for your chance at bat? Well, wait no more, spring is always a time to spruce things up. If you have a yard-raking leaves, mulching, planting, and pruning bushes are some great exercise opportunities. What? You don t have a yard, never fear, what about doing some inside extra cleaning duties? Have you cleaned out the closets lately? What about those dust bunnies under the bed, cleaned out your kitchen cabinets? These can be great exercises as well. All the bending, lifting, tossing, all uses muscles and energy which burns fat. What no yard, no home to clean? Well, can I trade you living locations? No seriously at least get outside take your stretch bands or cans of vegetables and enjoy the sunshine while doing some outside activities. Check out the Real Life Guide pages: & and the April/May issue of TOPS News for exercises anyone can do. Don t forget if you eat 100 calories less and burn 100 calories more those 10# will come off before you know it. Oh and just think the summer contests will be starting up in June. So it s time to start your warm-ups. Spring training should be in full swing.
SRD: WINNER WONDERLAND April 21-22, 2017 Oasis Hotel & Convention Center, Springfield, MO Hope you got your registration in before March 20 th to get the discounted rate. If not don t fear it s only $35.00 now-so get it in and come and see who is TOPS at the Winner Wonderland Also I m still in need of a couple of volunteers to help me with the Chapter Royalty Parade. If you are attending and would like to have a reserved seat for the session with the Chapter Royalty Parade, please contact me ASAP. Thanks in advance. Spring Fling Recap I want to thank everyone again that came out for the Spring Fling, even though I had a glitch with the projector, I think it was a great meeting. We had 29 members representing 8 of the 12 chapters in my area. We learned some basic TOPS 101 information, had a few words from our new coordinator Linda Wilcox, and made 2 Salt-Free Seasoning Mixes: one Italian and one Taco. HAPPY COOKING EVERYONE!!!!
MO 0711, Jefferson City continues to share that they had a no gain meeting in March. Their total weight loss for March was 14.5 and their biggest loser was Marcus with 5lbs. They walked 563 miles in March and have walked 1,515 miles so far this year. This is fantastic. Keep up the great work. Wow what great news!!! Keep sharing throughout the year. (I hold this spot for news about your chapters. Please provide news to me, to post. News that I receive gets posted and counts toward one of the items of a Gold Star Chapter.) Area Captain Walk on May 6 th Stephens Lake, in Columbia, MO. Time: 9am enter at 2001 E. Broadway, there is a parking lot and a restroom there. The inner trail around the lake is.6 miles and it s a hard surface, so would be handicapped accessible. We will walk 2 times around or 1.2 miles at your own pace. Then when we are done, we will find a space to sit and chat a spell, there are 2 shelters at that location. Wear your TOPS merchandise. Look for the TOPS Walk banner!!!!! Upcoming events: May 6 th Area Captain Walk in Columbia International Recognition Days: July 14 th and 15 th at Statehouse Convention Center & Little Rock Marriott, Little Rock, AR Fall Rally: September 23 rd, at Callaway Electric Coop, in Fulton, MO. Red Carpet Rehearsal. Resume Training: December 30, 2017 at Callaway Electric Coop, in Fulton, MO
TOPS Retreat in Missouri!!! September 17-22, 2017 in Excelsior Springs, MO at Lake Doniphan. Cost $495 (room, meals, and learning materials) Retreat Director: Deanna Bies Co-Ed Retreat Application at Tune Up with TOPS! I will be setting up chapter visits to give the new Tune Up with TOPS Area Captain program. So be thinking of songs that help you to Tune Up.
One Final Note The TOPS website currently won t let me send the newsletter to all the members so it s really important that as the leader or the chapter designate that any information that comes from TOPS gets relayed to all the members. So please share this newsletter with the members. As a leader or designate you may not want to participate in an upcoming event but that doesn t mean your members don t to. I do hope that everyone is reaching their goals that they sat at the beginning of the year. I can t wait to see you at SRD, IRD, and Fall Rally. I m always amazed how much people can change with losing weight. The way a person has better self-esteem, more pep in their step, their face glows with excitement. It doesn t take a lot of weight loss to see the change. Have you noticed any changes with your weight loss? A healthy living lifestyle is so much more than just numbers on a scale.
