2 January 2015 P a g e 2 Little Free Library Progress Report I spoke with Jason Frazier, and determined the best spot was by the depot. between the two windows facing the parking lot. It will provide shelter and we won't have to have a post. It will be more secure against the building. We also plan to add a bench at one point or another! More information on the float can be found at: Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade January 1st Rotary Float Entry Inbound/Outbound Exchange Student News Our Outbound Exchange Student for ,Thomas May, will be traveling to Thailand. The Rotary Rose Parade Float Committee s 37th consecutive entry in the 126thTournament of Roses Parade will proudly celebrate the work of Rotarians worldwide. The theme of the parade float this year is Changing Lives Through Clean Water The float is not a project of Rotary International, and no Rotary International funds are used. Our ability to enter a float is dependent solely on the generosity of Rotarians. Our Inbound Exchange Student, Pedro Mendes, will be moving to live with the Valencia family in January. They are Hector (father), Rocio (mother) and their son Miguel. Thanks to the Cannon family for hosting Pedro since his arrival from Brazil.

4 January 2015 P a g e 4 Holiday Party Held on Dec. 15th Our Club s annual holiday party was held on December 15th at the Big Tree Inn. Guests enjoyed a delicious dinner buffet of chef carved roast beef, wild mushroom rice pilaf, mashed potatoes, chicken, green beans with almonds, garden salad, and chocolate/vanilla mousse for dessert. =============== Thanks to committee chairs Dorothy Welch, Darcy Dewar Lynch and PP Sue Crilly. 6 January 2015 P a g e 6 Good Neighbor Committee s Winter Family Fun Event Winterfest at Mendon Ponds January 18th The Family Fun Event Will be held at Livingston Lanes on December 29th 11 am to 4 pm Co-sponsored by Pittsford Rotary Club Visit to Railroad Museum According to the Good Neighbor Committee Meeting Minutes of November 21st, Tom Taylor has suggested a visit to the Railroad Museum as a future event. 7 January 2015 P a g e 7 Backpack Lunches for Kids Program There are children in Livingston County who qualify for meals at school through the national lunch program. The Backpack Lunches for Kids Program helps these children get healthy food for the weekend. The Center for Community and Residence Halls at SUNY Geneseo were drop-off points for members of the campus community to donate items to support this program (fruit cups, cereal bars, juice boxes, applesauce, trail mix, granola bars, etc). Our Club s Literacy Committee wanted to include books in the backpacks in addition to the food. They were picked up from the Geneseo Elementary School and delivered to the College on December 15th. And the Winner is Marilyn Lyon has received a prize from the District Newsletter Editor, Is it the Truth? Howard Selleck, for finding the gavel in the November District s Newsletter Is it Fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned? 8 January 2015 P a g e 8 Geneseo Rotary Club Annual Scholarship The 21 students who may be eligible to receive the $500 Geneseo Rotary Club Annual Scholarship were ed by Marilyn Lyon in December. Applications must be received by the Geneseo Foundation no later than February 2, By May, , an applicant will receive notification from the Geneseo Foundation if they received this scholarship or that they were not selected. Volunteers gathered in the late morning that day at St. Mary s Parish Hall and set out on their appointed rounds to deliver the items to families in need. Thanks to all the volunteers.

9 January 2015 P a g e 9 New School at San Cayetano Dedicated on November 20 Members of the local Ministry of Education, Enlace Project, and the construction team joined together with the entire community in celebrating the work that they had done together. They celebrated with music, speeches, games, food and drinks and presented certificates to those who helped, and school supplies such as books and pencils to the students. (Source... from sent by Sean Connor, Enlace Project Intern) SUNY Geneseo Rotaract Club Participates in Holiday Jubilee The SUNY Geneseo Rotaract Club was one of over 40 student organizations and clubs that participated in the Annual Holiday Jubilee which was held in the MacVittie College Union on December 6th They made 3D snowflakes and holiday cards for soldiers.
