1 Get out and Get Busy This Summer with LEEP! Summer is a perfect time to try new activities, get together with friends, and meet new people! If you ve never participated at LEEP or haven t been coming lately, you may want to check out this newsletter. LEEP has a lot a great activities going on to help make your 2012 summer memorable. We are on the go almost every day of the week and have a lot of new programs to spark your interest leep@mankatoleep.org As a reminder, LEEP does have scholarship money available for those who need some financial assistance. To register for any program or if you have questions, please call LEEP at or check out our website at LEAVE A LEGACY is a campaign to inspire people like you to make charitable bequests. Bequests are just one type of "planned gift" a gift that will be distributed sometime in the future to a charity that is meaningful to you. Through LEAVE A LEGACY, people who have made charitable bequests and other types of planned gifts share their experiences in the hope of encouraging others to give. Have you included LEEP in your estate plans? Please share with us your intentions, so we can plan for the future. Fall Elegance 2012 Fall Elegance preparation is well underway and we can t wait for you to celebrate with us the Verizon Wireless Center Arena on: Saturday, September 15, 2012 Invitations will be delivered to your homes in the coming weeks with more specific information about the event. As with any Fall Elegance dinner and dance, it will be a night full of excitement and memories to carry with you for years to come. In planning this event, the committee has a few helpful hints to help ensure the evening runs smoothly. All RSVP s will be due, with payment, by Friday, August 24. No late RSVP s will be accepted. Staff accompanying participants must be prepaid and all payments should be included in the original RSVP. This event is a semi formal event and staff are asked to dress appropriately. Tables of 7 will not be accommodated and may result in groups being split. Tables of 1-6 or a full table of 8 are preferred. One professional photo per person will be allowed for the event. Your help with these details will ensure the night be an evening to remember. This evening is an event to honor you and all of your accomplishments. If you have any questions after your invitations arrive please do not hesitate to contact Mandy in the LEEP Office

2 Area 9 and Regional Tournament Schedule When competing with, all athletes have the opportunity to attend an Area Tournament which is held half way through each season. Monday Chex Mix Frenzy Tuesday Walking Club Thursday Ice Cream Social Friday Sand Volleyball Let's get ready for the summer get-togethers by learning a few new Chex Mix recipes! We will be trying a few traditional recipes like Original Chex Mix to the more interesting like Lemonade Chex Mix. We will be making at least Six Different Chex Mix Recipes; more if there is time. Join us at LEEP to try these tasty recipes and be able to take the recipes home to share with loved ones. We ll get our brains and bodies moving while we take in the long awaited summer air. We will start the class off at Cold Stone Creamery and taste their delicious creations. The second week we will taste some homemade gelato at Sweet Shoppe (Madison Ave). The final week we will be visiting the newly opened Mom & Pop s (Riverfront) to taste their local homemade ice cream. Join LEEP as we meet at Spring Lake Park to play Sand Volleyball. All skill levels are welcome. We will work on some new skills and scrimmaging the rest of the time. A photo is worth a thousand words and as you can see from this website, when you travel with LEEP, you get to do and see so many wonderful sites as well as make new friends. New vacations are being added weekly so stay tuned for your future vacations to be posted on this website for your viewing pleasure. Let us know what you think! Transportation Changes Due to the continued rise in the cost of transportation, LEEP has made some changes to our policies. After careful consideration it has been decided that LEEP will have to increase our transportation fees for various programs. LEEP will continue to offer transportation within the Mankato and North Mankato city limits for those who need it. 5 July Special Events Due to participant limit, LEEP will accept registrations on a first come first serve basis. LEEP will now provide pick-up service to consumers who live in Mankato/North Mankato city limits for an additional $7.00 per ride. Please specify at time of registration if this service is needed. Twin Cities Light-Rail Ride, Shopping and Lunch Sunday, July 1 Come with LEEP as we ride the Light-Rail to Downtown, all the way enjoying the sights. Once there we will eat a scrumptious lunch at The Square Peg; which is famous for its breakfast menu! After lunch we will ride the Light-Rail and do some shopping if there is time; so bring some spending money. *Price includes-rail Ticket and Meal; bring spending money if desired* Meet at LEEP: 9:00 am Drop-off at Home: 6:00-6:30 pm Cost: $75.00 Limit: 10 Treasure Island Pow Wow Saturday, July 7 Join LEEP as we head up to Treasure Island to see the Pow Wow! We will start the day by being in the parade with MRCI and then we ll head over to the carnival to fill our stomach with hot dogs, mini-donuts, or other treats. Afterwards, we will press our luck by playing bingo and carnival games. We will also have the opportunity to watch various performers and enjoy some rides. Miriam moved to our lovely city of Mankato 30 years ago from St. Peter, MN and has been involved with LEEP for many years. She currently works for MRCI in the Bay 6 area and is part of the EASE Program. Miriam likes to go to the movie theater and watch movies with LEEP! She also enjoys BINGO and the Day Program s Coffee Club. In her free time Miriam enjoys plays, gambling at the Casino, and a good glass of wine. When asked what she would do if she won one million dollars she would buy things and go on more trips. She told us that if she had to describe herself in 3 words she would have to say she was healthy, funny and happy.
