1 Programme 2010 Queen s Baton Relay: The Queen s Baton will arrive Rarotonga on Friday 21 st May 2010, at 9.25 pm (flight NZ046) and will depart our shores on Monday 24 th May 2010, at 7.10 am (flight NZ049) QUEEN S BATON RELAY IN THE COOK ISLANDS Friday 21 May pm Arrival of Air NZ flight from Auckland Welcome Turou by Anautoa Rangatira on Tarmac. The welcoming party shall be: CISNOC President, Sir Geoffrey Henry K.B.E Minister of Sport, Hon. Apii Piho Rosaline Blake BEM, Secretary General of CISNOC Robert Graham, Queen s Baton Relay Co-ordinator The Baton is to be presented to the President of CISNOC who will carry it through to the VIP Lounge for the welcoming ceremony. He is accompanied by the Minister of Sport, the Queen s Baton Delegation and Anautoa Rangatira. As the President of CISNOC approaches the Lounge there is a welcome Turou by Potikitaua Mataiapo.Invited guests will stand as the Baton enters the Lounge. (At the conclusion of his speech the Prime Minister is to pass the Baton on to the Minister of Sports who in turn hands the Baton back to the President of CISNOC who in turn hands it over to Mrs. Rosie Blake BEM and Robert Graham QBR Coordinator.) 2 Escort Vehicle (CISNOC, emergency vehicle, vehicle from time to time will be utilised a CGF vehicle for transfers) Police (rear escort) 7.30am Baton will depart Edgewater Resort for BCI Stadium, Opening Ceremony and commencement of Rarotonga relay. Invited guest are to be seated, the Baton will arrive from the Western gates, and CISNOC President shall escort Baton into the Stadium. BCI STADIUM PROGRAM Opening Prayer: Rev. The Baton will continue along Maire Nui Drive heading towards the Court House. The drumming begins. The Baton is to be marched towards the TSA, up the steps and into the TSA. While the Baton is inside the TSA the Cultural Presentation is readied. On exiting the Baton is placed in the holder and the Cultural Presentation begins. At the conclusion, Team Cook Islands uplifts the Baton and walks it to the escort vehicle which, together with the QBR Delegation and the CISNOC Delegation, heads to the Edgewater Resort and Spa Team Cook Islands / Commonwealth Games Athletics Boxing Lawn Bowls Netball Tennis Weightlifting 7.00pm The Prime Minister of the Cook Islands will host the Queen s Baton & CISNOC Delegation. Sunday 23 May am Queen s Baton departs Edgewater Resort for Government House am Queen s Baton Relay convoy and accompanying CISNOC officials arrive at Government House, Titikaveka. Vehicles will park on the road. 9.05am Official Secretary meets the QBR & CISNOC Delegations at the gate (Arorangi side), and leads the Delegations to the Residence. Baton is carried by the Secretary General. The President of CISNOC introduces the Delegations to H.E. Sir Fredrick Goodwin and Lady Goodwin. The Secretary General passes the Baton to the President who then presents the Baton to H.E. the Queen s Representative who then places it in the holder. Official Secretary welcomes the Delegations and, following their Excellencies taking their seats, invites all to take their seats. Opening Prayer Service (Titikaveka SDA). Speeches: 2010 Queen s Baton Representative. Sir Geoffrey Henry KBE, CISNOC President. H.E. Sir Frederick Goodwin, by way of a reply.

8 Light Refreshments. 9.50am The Queen s Baton is to be escorted to church by H.E. Sir Frederick Goodwin & Lady Goodwin. The convoy will leave in this order: i. Police Escort ii. His Excellency Sir Frederick Goodwin and Lady Goodwin iii Queen s Baton and Delegation iv. CISNOC Delegation v. Police 9.55 am Official Secretary carries the Baton into Church. H.E. Sir Frederick Goodwin & Lady Goodwin, the QBR and CISNOC Delegations are led into the Church. The Official Secretary hands the Baton to H.E. the Queen s Representative who places it in the holder where it will remain during the duration of the service. Their Excellencies and the Delegations are shown to their seats am 11.00am 12.00pm Following the Church Service H.E. Sir Frederick Goodwin uplifts the Baton, hands it to the Official Secretary and their Excellencies lead the Delegations out of Church to return to Government House. The Convoy will leave in the order of arrival. At Government House: Light Refreshments will be available Delegation and Guests may mingle The Baton will be placed in the holder and made available for everyone to hold and have photos taken. Queen s Baton, QBR Delegation and CISNOC Delegation depart for the Edgewater Resort pm Photo shoot around the Island 4.00pm 7.00pm Back to Edgewater Resort, Baton will rest for the day CGA President Hosts the QBR Delegation at John Tierney s Residence, Muri Beach Monday 24 May am 6.15am 6.30am Luggage, passports and travel documents will have already been taken and team checked in with Air New Zealand. Baton will depart the Edgewater Resort for the last time as it heads to the airport to depart for its next destination in the 2010 Queen s Baton Relay through Oceania, on its way back to Delhi, India. The Queen s Baton arrives at the Rarotonga International Airport.
