1 In this issue. A WORD FROM OUR PRESIDENT. Welcome to Term 3. Term 2 Fundraising News Boost Our Future donation winner Can you help? Family holiday up for grabs Maroochy Carnival Round 2 Under 5 s Program Vacancies Junior Program News Membership singlets out now WAG WAG Stages Stages Awards Awards Competition Results Well, we did it. Our fundraising efforts paid off, to satisfy requirements for a successful application with Qld Sport and Recreation. This means we are eligible for $500k of funding toward our building extension. Thank you all - "Our Members" - who made this possible. Our focus now has changed to the design and build phase. Thanks to Brent Hall, a lot of work is already under way with the Building Steering Committee. Planning has begun with SPROUT ARCHITECTS and other consultants as we work toward the tender process for the construction. Please be patient at this time, as there are many meetings and decisions occurring weekly and daily to achieve the optimum design to suit our needs and cost. We will provide you all updates as often as practical. Back to Gymnastics. Last term we saw MBG's first National Champion (in a long while) when Harrison Williams won the L7u division at the Australian Championships in Melbourne. This is very exciting for the Club and with the extension coming, we hope to enable many more of our young athletes a road to success in their sporting career. Congratulations also to all competitors over the last couple of months and good luck to those attending Junior Regionals and also Junior State Titles. As we will be hosting both MAG and WAG Junior Regionals, I ask, how can you help? These events are only as successful as the Volunteers involved - with more hands it is easier on all. We have jobs for everyone - announcing, scoring, BBQ ing, result runners, and many more. Please read the notice board and add your name - even if it is for one session only. Check out the photos in this Newsletter. There are photos of all ages, starting with our littlest in the Junior Program. These photos display the excitement and fun enjoyed by our younger athletes and remind us why we are here. This is where it starts - teaching the fundamentals of movement. We really are the springboard for all kids into an active life. So we have a lot happening at Maroochy Beach over the next year. With the extension and business as usual, it will be a very active place. I am very excited for the club, its members, and the bright future we have ahead us. Peter Dwan Maroochy Beach Gymnastics Club President

7 Page 7 Welcome back to Term 3 our valued gymnasts and parents. Also greetings to our new beginners, we look forward to helping you explore and develop your gymnastics ability. Congratulations to all gymnasts who participated in our Maroochy Beach Carnival last term. All girls proudly showcased their skills learnt and will continue to enhance throughout this term. Our 2 nd Maroochy Beach Carnival will be held on Sunday 4 th September This small in-house competition is a great platform for our Stages Program Girls to compete meanwhile gaining experience in a competitive setting performing routines to judges and achieving goals set by their coaches. Throughout the duration of Term 3 gymnasts will learn or continue to progress their skills required for routines on floor, bar, beam and vault. These skills will either prepare the gymnast for the competition or enhance goals set to progress through our Bronze, Silver and Gold levels program. Safety and Reminders: - Please ensure gymnast is in suitable attire. No skirts, socks, dresses or denim as these items restrict skills required for apparatus. - Please have long hair tied up and out of gymnasts face. - Please ensure watches, rings, bracelets/bangles and necklaces are removed before class. - Please bring a water bottle with gymnasts name clearly labelled to limit time wasted going to and from a water bubbler. - Parent/s and caregivers please do not enter onto the gymnastics floor as it becomes a safety issue for our many other gymnasts and coaches using the facility. Finally if you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact myself or speak with your gymnasts coach after class or leave a message at the administration desk to call back or arrange a meeting. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to a fantastic Term 3. Aimee Finch - Acting WG Program Coordinator
