Our pancake breakfast was a TERRIFIC SUCCESS totaling $1, Smiling faces, welcoming chatter, expressions of goodwill and compliments were seen and heard through-out the morning of January 24, 2015 as the residents of Southwinds Mobile Home Park turned out to support their New Can You Dig It Landscaping Club. We all extend a BIG thank you to Woody, John and Carl. The pancakes came out hot off the grill and were delicious. Woody, many have asked for your secret ingredient in the pancake mixture! Please wish our Can You Dig It Landscaping Group a Happy First Birthday! We will be 1 year old on February 4th. We started with 6 members and now our total is 25. All Items are to be brought to the Recreation Hall on Friday, February 20th between 9am-1pm. Items for the Boutique: Men s & Women s Clothing, gently used, (cleaned, pressed and on a hangar), scarves, beltsh andbags, purses, shoes, & jewelry. Boutique items can be brought to the card room on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday February 18th, 19th & 20th, between 9 am and 1pm. NEW THIS YEAR!!!!! A full breakfast will be served, desserts also available. All money raised by this event goes to support the activities of the SOUTHWINDS RECREATION CLUB. So, bring friends and let s all participate. 3 Prizes for the Park Picnic The profits from the sale of Birdie Hutter s cookbooks were donated to us for use in the new kitchen in memory of Birdie. We still have a few books left. At Christmas time seven shut-ins were given Christmas bags which were filled with goodies and greatly appreciated by the shut-ins. Info: please call Madeleine at (941) On Jan. 12 a group of approximately 50 excited women met at the Rec Hall at 9am. Copresident Janet Smith welcomed everyone to our outing and gave a brief orientation of the IKEA store. As we waited for the bus she explained the layout of the store and how the store works. She also showed the group some of her favorite IKEA buys. The bus arrived promptly at 9:30 and six brave men joined the group for our ride to IKEA. Hosts, Janet and Richard were wonderful, offering breakfast snacks to everyone. Upon arriving, everyone fortified themselves with an IKEA lunch and then headed out to the store equipped with catalogs and order sheets. The IKEA store is a totally different shopping experience. It carries complete bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms and a nice selection of curtains, towels, sheet sets, etc. To buy, you write the item number on the order sheet with the aisle and bin number so you can pick it up at the warehouse when you are done. There s also the Market Place that has lights, flowers, and many other wonderful things that can be put right into your basket. 3

4 Everyone had a wonderful shopping experience, gathering at the Café around 3pm to load beds, tables and many numerous purchases onto the bus. The return trip was much quieter until Janet & Richard passed the wine, soft drinks, and snacks around. Our bus driver, Colin, was so friendly and very helpful. The bus was big and comfortable and Janet, with her helper, Richard, did an outstanding job to make this a Cloud 9 event to remember. Registration for the Park Doubles tournament, our other main event, will be open starting Monday, February 9 and close February 18 at 3 PM. The tournament will be held Friday afternoons from February 20 through March 13. Our Team plays in the Sara-Bay League which includes, in addition to our Team, the Bahia and Vista teams from Bahia-Vista Estates and one team from Oakwood Manor. We have played one match against Vista and Oakwood and two matches against Bahia thus far. We are currently in third place behind Vista and Bahia with Oakwood following us in fourth place. In 4

5 February we have home matches on February 17th and 24th. We have appreciated the many who have been in the stands to watch the matches. Instructions have started for those interested in learning the basics of the game. Come over to the courts on Thursday mornings at 10 if you would like to get in on the fun.
