AMA CHARTER 1040 GOLD LEADERSHIP CLUB WHEELS UP by Steve Gelman Welcome Back, The winter field repairs have been completed, and the field is in good condition. Thanks to everyone who has helped with these restorations. I assisted Carl with testing and trimming our Club s Avistar Trainer. The Tactic Wireless Buddy Box was very easy to operate, and Carl was able to bind the equipment right away. I guess he did his homework. The plane was very stable and the engine ran smooth with a reliable idle. The timing could have not been better, since Carl found a new interested pilot, Erek Fryz, who was merely spectating, and encouraged him to come to the next meeting and join the club. What happened next? Carl marched our new Pilot in Training to the pits and stated up the Avistar Trainer. Arek has had experience with a flight simulator and had good control of the airplane. I look forward to introducing Erik at our next meeting. I have taken notice that our members have been in compliance with AMA and FAA Small UAS Certification by identifying their aircraft. Please keep up the good work and let s continue to help each other to be sure that our Club and members fully comply. Our next meeting is Monday May 21 st at 7:00 PM. 2 May 2018 Volume 25 Issue 5 Page 2 MEETING MINUTES by Murry Randell, Secretary April 16th, 2018 Meeting The April 16th meeting of the Blue Max RC Flying Club was called to order at 7:05pm by President Larry Bochenko Welcome Guests Don Bartlett Welcome New Members None Around The Hangar President s Report Vice President Larry Bochenko: meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary Report Murry Randell: The minutes were accepted as published in the newsletter. Treasurer Report Jim Kaufman: Numbers were given Newsletter Report Bob Breckler: Thanks to all for their photos. Webmaster Report Doug Bradbury: No Report. Committee Reports: Winter Banquet OPEN: we need new volunteer for Field Marshal Jim Kaufman: The ruts have been filled in and the grass seed planted and the field has been rolled. Idea s are Kostas, Portillo s or another option would be a catering service, Con s that came up were that the last time we did catering we ran out of food and we need to band those that have paid to avoid people just showing up on the day and not having New Business With the merger of Tower Hobbies and Hobbico we re still seeing items that are Backorder DLE engines are now in stock along with some other Servos. Horizon has a new 60cc Cub XL on the market and Tower is showing some new items also but we ve noticed that Horizon has been advertising their Horizon Fest on the Tower adds.i m sure they ll be more to come with this merger. Field discussion and The List was on the docket again, Ruts...DONE!, Thanks Don Linder, Don Linder Jr, Jim Keehan and Bob Breckler Fencing..needs to be locked to the poles all the way down New Wndsock.Purchased, just needs to be put up and the pole painted again. Carpet NE Entrance DONE! Picked up and nailed down. Pin Board.Needs to be moved to another location. Crash Reports WAIT FOR IT!!!!!! FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS We are collecting non-perishable foods for a local food pantry. The food pantry we are donating to is Our Lady of Ransom/St Vincent de Paul. Please bring your donations to our monthly meetings. Thanks to Carl Will for delivering the Food to the Pantry. Still needs pilot {on order}. Cheapy-gippo servos, just to annoy Carl.

Bottom floor will be for the lawnmower and yard tools, upper floor will be the Warehouse/Shop/Museum, Should be more than enough space, even for Mike. Let us know when the doors open Mike.will there be annual passes?

12 May 2018 Volume 25 Issue 5 Page 12 Fun Fly Rules for the 5/20 Date, hope to see you all there, remember everyone will receive a raffle ticket for the end of the year raffle prize, the more you fly the better of your chances are Fun-Fly Weather permitting, BlueMax will have a fun-fly on Sunday May 20 at 10:00 a.m. The event will be Touch-andGo. Each flyer will have 2 minutes to take off and do as many touch-and-go's as possible. Each touch-and-go must be in the same direction as the take off. Between touch-and-go's each pilot must do a number of loops and rolls (depending on the proficiency level), and must complete a cycle of the "pattern." After time expires the pilot will land. Landing will be scored as an additional touch-n-go. Scoring as follows: Each touch-and-go = 10 points Bonus for T-N-G "on runway" = 5 points Penalty for crashing "On runway" counts if at least one wheel touches down on the pavement. "Pattern" must include some flying east of AND west of the pavement. Number of loops/rolls is: novice pilot = 0 each solo pilot =1 each Intermediate pilot = 2 each Advance or sport = 3 each Carl took out the Trainor with the Tatic radio and the buddy box and after getting it set up worked with a spectator that was looking to get into flying, Erek Fryz came out to just watch but was talked into giving the trainer a try on the buddy box, with some stick time on his RC Flight Simulator and some coaching by Carl he was off, he enjoyed it so much he just might join the club, always welcome Erek
