2 General Information 2006 NCAA Division II Cross Country West Regionals Course: The course will be a multiple loop layout with the skeleton loop approximately 2.5k in length. Footing will be mostly on trails with crushed granite. Each loop has a 300m paved section, so spikes are definitely not recommended or needed. The course climbs nearly 100 vertical feet each loop over a 600m stretch, and drops very gradually back to the water level over the next 600m. The crushed granite is loose, so the hilly stretch is somewhat slow. The course is VERY spectator friendly and requires little work to view almost the entire loop. Course Preview: The course will be available on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 2-3, during daylight hours for teams to preview. Parking: The event is taking place in a California State Park (Lake Oroville State Recreation Area) where vehicles are required to pay for parking. Enclosed in the mailed packet are parking permits to place in your team vehicles when you go to preview the course and on race day. Please place the permit in your front window to avoid being ticketed. Entries: All roster entries must be submitted on Direct Athletics ( Deadline for roster entries is Wednesday, October 11 by 8:00 pm (Pacific Time). There is a fine of $50 to a maximum of $300 for late entries per individual and/or team per gender. Fines must be paid before the coaches meeting on Friday, Nov. 3. Declaration Process: The NCAA Track and Field Committee has agreed to allow member institutions to declare athletes by noon on Friday, the day prior to the meet. For the West Regional, this must be done via to meet director Teresa Clements tclements@csuchico.edu. An will be promptly returned to verify acceptance. Declarations can be given in person on Friday, Nov. 3, from 3:00-4:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn-Chico. Coaches Meeting: The coaches meeting will be held on Friday, Nov. 3 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn-Chico (Butte Room). This meeting is MANDATORY. Any coach who is late or does not attend may receive a fine of $100 from the NCAA. For those who declared via , your bib number packets will be distributed before the coaches meeting begins. Start Line Check-in: Teams must report to the starting line 15 minutes prior to race time for uniform and number check. Awards: Awards will be presented at the race site immediately after the women s results have been verified. The Coaches Association will recognize the top 15 in each race as All- West Region honorees. Each team advancing to the National Championships will be called up to the stage for recognition and a photo opportunity. Results: Results will be available as soon as possible near the finish line area. Results can be ed to your school and media by sending a request to Teresa Clements

3 The results will also be posted on the Chico State Athletics web site: Advancement to National Championships: Men West has three (3) automatic team qualifiers and two (2) automatic individual qualifiers. Women West has four (4) automatic team qualifiers and two (2) automatic individual qualifiers. A total of 184 participants run in each NCAA Championship (24 teams and 16 individuals). Trainers: Trainers will be available beginning at 7 a.m. at the course on Saturday. Special training requests need to be made in advance with Chico State Head Trainer Scott Barker (sbarker@csuchico.edu, ). There will be a First Response ambulance unit at the event on Saturday. Dressing rooms: There are no dressing or shower facilities at the Forebay Recreation Center. Teams can return to Chico State and use the athletics locker rooms for showers, if necessary Restroom: There are six permanent restrooms available. Additional portable restrooms will be available as well. Travel: Chico is located 90 miles north of Sacramento off Hwy 99. Holiday Inn-Chico is located off Hwy 99 at the Cohasset Road exit. Head South on Cohasset. Hotel is one block down on left. The Forebay Aquatics Center is located in the Lake Oroville State Recreation Area and is approximately a 25-minute drive from the Holiday Inn-Chico. Take Hwy 99 South (approx. 12 miles). Turn left on Highway 149 (approx. 5 miles). Merge right onto Hwy 70 toward Oroville (approx. 4 miles). Exit at Garden Drive. Turn right into Forebay Recreation Area. Accommodations: Holiday Inn-Chico (685 Manzanita Ct., ) is the host hotel for the event. Ask about the Chico State Athletics rate. Additional hotels in the area: Courtyard by Marriott ( ), Oxford Suites ( ), Residence Inn ( ), Heritage Inn ( ). 4 NCAA Cross Country Online Entry Instructions **Important Note for Existing DirectAthletics Account Holders** If you already have a DirectAthletics account for your team, you should login at and use your existing account to submit your entries. The NCAA entry process is no different than submitting entries to other DA meets. If you know you have an account but have forgotten your username/password, you can click the I forgot my password link in the login box. STEP 1 Creating a DirectAthletics Account If you are new to DirectAthletics, you will be able to create an account for your team by following the instructions below: 1) Go to 2) On the right side (in the New Account Creation box), select your Division. 3) Select your team, choosing only what genders you are submitting entries for. Enter your contact information this information will be used only by the NCAA and the meet hosts. Lastly, enter the username and password you would like for your account. Please choose a username that is unique common usernames like bears or adam or track are likely to be taken. 4) Click Continue and you will be brought to the default Team Roster page. You can see what team you are controlling by looking at the Team dropdown on the navigation bar across the top of your account (i.e. Texas (Men) ). If you have a Men s and Women s account, it will usually default to Men first. 5) Follow Step 2 below to enter your roster. STEP 2 Setting Up Your Online Roster Before submitting your entries for the NCAA Regional Championships, you must first add all attending athletes to your DirectAthletics roster: 1) On the default Team Roster page, click the green Add Athletes link above Welcome to your DirectAthletics account! 2) Select the number of athletes you wish to enter. You can always add more later.

5 3) Enter your athletes First Names, Last Names and School Years and click Submit. Please be aware of what gender you are entering you will complete the roster and entry process for one gender first, and then repeat the process for the other gender (see the Important Notice after Step 3 below) 4) The system will display the athletes you have added to your roster. You are now ready for the final step of Submitting Your Roster/Entries. STEP 3--Submitting Your Roster/Entries Once your athletes are added to your roster, you must submit your roster to the NCAA Regional Championships. 1) Click the HOME tab in the upper left of the site. Under Upcoming Meets, click the green Register button next to the NCAA Regional Championships 2) Check off the box for each athlete you wish to enter. You can check the top box to select (or un-select) your entire roster. If you have left anyone off your roster accidentally, you can add them using the Add New Entry box. 3) When you have completed your entries, click Submit. You MUST click Submit to submit your entries. 4) You will see your current, submitted entries on the View Entries page. For entry confirmation, click the link for a printable receipt or click the Confirmation link at the top of the View Entries page. An Confirmation will be sent to the address in your account. 5) At any time before the entry deadline, you may edit your entries by clicking the Edit Entries link next to the meet in the HOME tab. **Important Note for Coaches Entering Men AND Women** If you are entering Men AND Women, you will now repeat Steps 2 and 3 with the other gender. Select the opposite gender (i.e. Texas (Women) ) from the Team dropdown on the navigation bar across the top of your account. Repeat Steps 2 and 3. You must request separate confirmations for Men and Women.
