2 VISION By providing high-quality and innovative arts education and training, taught by professional artists, the city of Aurora s Cultural Arts program will create a new generation of artists, patrons, community members and informed citizens and will provide an avenue of expression for young people who are often denied a voice. FINE ART AND MUSIC The city of Aurora classes in visual art and music are designed to nurture individual creativity, encourage collaboration, and give participants the chance to explore new and sometimes different experiences in the arts. PORTRAIT DRAWING & SKETCHING Learn the fundamental rules of strong light and shadow, the planes of the face, specific features of the face-eyes, nose, lips, ears, and more. CLASSICAL STILL LIFE IN OIL Professional artist Ali Ghassan will take you through the steps of learning how to approach an oil painting from start to finish. Start with drawing, then paint in layers until the objects have form and detail. Understand the painting process and come away with a realistic still-life painting. Supply list available.
