A big thanks to all who planned and conducted them. Now it s all out for our car show in September, our auction in October, the elections of officers in November, and our Christmas party in December. It s going to be a busy fall. Don t forget we will be back in the V.F.W. Hall for our September meeting. We are looking for some people to step up for our next year s officers. 4 2017 August Tour Recap Bob and Cindy Green did an great job hosting the tour. We had a large crowd that came out for the route, the weather, and of course the chance to share our Model A s with each other. Thank you so much Bob and Cindy! 5 Ohio Valley Region Model A Club Meeting Minutes WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 23, 2017 VORHEES PARK, READING, OHIO CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Steve Gillie, Vice Director, who also led the moment of silence and the Pledge of Allegiance. ROLL CALL: The roll call was led by Dottie Gerdes. There were 38 members and 2 guests present. Guests were Mike Noonan and his daughter. Thirteen Model A s were driven. SECRETARY S REPORT: The minutes of the Wednesday, July 19, 2017 meeting were approved as printed in the August 2017 AAAOOOGAH. TREASURER S REPORT: The Treasurer s report was approved as printed in the August AAAOOOGAH. SUNSHINE REPORT: Conrad Gerdes was present but still recuperating from a recent knee replacement. Denny Perry returned after an extended illness. August birthdays celebrated were Marie Zitney, Jim Rupp, Denny Perry, Vic Baer, Sharian Gillie. August anniversaries recognized were Art and B.J. Foreman 45 years, Elmer and Jeanette Stanukinos 24 years and Jim and Pam Thomas 49 years. Jim Rupp reported that he is experiencing some problems with Road Runner addresses linking with his Fuse . Please contact Jim if you have a Road Runner (cinci.rr.com) address and are not receiving club s. FASHION COMMITTEE: Phyllis Pease reported that the Fashion Committee seminar presented in Gettysburg was a notable success with more than 70 attendees. Both Margie Blomer and Dina Hicks received Awards of Excellence in the Fashion Judging. Also, congratulations to Margie Blomer who has accepted a position on the MARC Fashion Committee. UPCOMING MARC NATIONAL MEETS: The 2018 Membership Meet will be held April 11-15, 2018 in Granville, OH. The 2018 MARC National Meet will be held June 24-30, 2018 in Branson, MO. The 2018 MARC National Tour will be held September 17-20, 2018 in Elking, W.VA. UPCOMING OVR EVENTS: The August 27, 2017 event hosted by Bob and Cindy Green will meet in the parking lot of the Burger King North of I-275 and Colerain Ave. at 9:45 a.m. to leave at 10:15 a.m. There will be a scenic drive to Fernald Nature Preserve in Ross, OH. A stop at the workshop and home of Tony and Donna Topicz. Then we will head to lunch at Eli s Sports Bar in Ross. Finally a stop at the Venice Antique Mall for those interested. READING CAR SHOW: The Car Show is scheduled for Sunday, September 10, Elmer Stanukinos requested that volunteers arrive by 9:00 a.m., and bring extra shoes and socks to wear after the grass dries out. Several members offered to assist Conrad and Dottie Gerdes in transporting the DJ Equipment for the event. ANNUAL CLUB AUCTION: The auction will be held at the club meeting on Wednesday, October 25, Please donate Model A related items and /or baked goods to be auctioned. The auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. so arrive by 6:00 p.m. to set up. The club retains ½ of the proceeds with the other ½ split between 2 numbers drawn. Each member donating an item will receive one numbered ticket for this drawing. SPLIT THE POT: Cindy Green won $26. TECH SESSION: Lee White presented a collection of the MARC publications Technically Speaking which he recommended to anyone working on a Model A. Lee also recommended whitewall tire cleaner as an all purpose cleaner in the shop. UPCOMING OFFICER ELECTIONS: Conrad Gerdes distributed forms for anyone interested in assuming a club officer position. Please complete these forms and bring them to the September meeting. MARC NATIONAL MEET: The 2017 meet was held July 31-August 4, 2017 in Gettysburg, PA. The attendance was one of the largest in recent history. OVR attendees were Lee White and Phyllis Pease, Tom and Margie Blomer, Ralph, Pricilla Sue and Dina Hicks, Jarrod and Melissa Williams, Larry, Debbie, Jeremy, Emma and Megan Arnold, Tom and Jacky Hull. The VFW Hall has a dinner at 6:00 p.m., you can get a home-cooked meal for around seven dollars if you are interested. The VFW lets us use their hall for no-charge. The only thing they ask is that we buy any drinks that we may want from them. Our meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. September 30, 2017 The club has been invited by the Park Hills Kentucky Civic Association to participate in the upcoming 90th birthday celebration for Park Hills, Ky. This will be a dinner dance for the event with the theme Let s Party Like It s 1927!. Since the 1928 Model A Ford was officially introduced in December 1927, we are invited to attend and include our Model A s. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Devou Park Golf Course and Event Center in Covington, KY. It will start at 7pm. Please let Conrad Gerdes know if you are interested. October 25, 2017 OVR Club Meeting and Auction If you have things to sell, start preparing! Members are encouraged to donate Model A related items or baked goods for auction. The club will get ½ of the proceeds. The remaining ½ will be split between two participating members. November 5, 2017 Brookville, Ohio.
