2018 German Exchange Hello, my name is Ida. I am 14 years old and I am from the Lloyd Gymnasium in Bremerhaven. Last Wednesday we went for a 6 day exchange to Whitby.

The nature and surroundings around the school house are amazing and I found many new friends because I was a boarder. Usually I am in class 8 but at Fyling Hall I was in class 9 with Mr Instone.

Saturday was also cool because we visited Whitby with our exchange partners. Ida Schuetze Hello, my name is Katharina and I am from the Lloyd-Gymnasium in Bremerhaven, Germany.

On Wednesday when we arrived, everyone was very tired because of the long journey. We set off at 9 o clock in the morning and we arrived at 8 o clock in the evening.

2 2018 German Exchange Hello, my name is Ida. I am 14 years old and I am from the Lloyd Gymnasium in Bremerhaven. Last Wednesday we went for a 6 day exchange to Whitby. My exchange partner was a boarder, so I boarded too. I was very sad to leave Fyling Hall School, because I want to stay here forever! The nature and surroundings around the school house are amazing and I found many new friends because I was a boarder. Usually I am in class 8 but at Fyling Hall I was in class 9 with Mr Instone. I thought that Thursday was one of the best days. It was my birthday and in the afternoon we had games. As the weather was so warm we went to the beach and played games there. Saturday was also cool because we visited Whitby with our exchange partners. Ida Schuetze Hello, my name is Katharina and I am from the Lloyd-Gymnasium in Bremerhaven, Germany. I did the German exchange for 6 days. It was quite interesting and exciting to see how the school system works here. My exchange partner doesn t live at the school so I lived in her house. On Wednesday when we arrived, everyone was very tired because of the long journey. We set off at 9 o clock in the morning and we arrived at 8 o clock in the evening. On the next day we all went to different classes and the lessons are very different than the lessons at our school. I think we all experienced a lot and had much fun. Katharina Hello, my name is Merle, I am from Germany and I am 14 years old. I did an exchange to Fyling Hall School for 6 days. It was a very interesting experience and I noticed lots of differences. My exchange student was a boarder, so I joined her. The landscape around the school is very nice and you can see the sea from some places. I also liked the boarding house and the dorms in it. The rooms were very cosy. The lessons were really different from the lessons at my school in Germany. It was not as difficult as in Germany and it was easy for me as a German to understand the content of the lesson. Also, the system of learning was very different. After school you had the opportunity to do activities such as football or hockey. With our exchange group we had trips to Whitby or to Robin Hood s Bay. Both are very nice tourist places. I really enjoyed the exchange and I like Fyling Hall School very much. I have learned lots of things about going to school in England. Merle Scheithauer

Go Karting Madness Last Sunday, my friend William and I went Go Karting with the school.

) We, on the other hand, drove a Go Kart it felt very fast even though it was limited to 45 mph. Firstly, we were given a first lap to get used to the vehicle, but then after that, the race was on!

When I went around the corner, I saw this happening so I let go of my accelerator and put full breaks on but my wheels locked up so I nearly lost control. Luckily, not fully though!

3 Go Karting Madness Last Sunday, my friend William and I went Go Karting with the school. It took us about 45 minutes to get there, and Mr Instone drove us (although sadly did not partake in the Karting!) We, on the other hand, drove a Go Kart it felt very fast even though it was limited to 45 mph. Firstly, we were given a first lap to get used to the vehicle, but then after that, the race was on! We witnessed a few crashes. William bumped into another Kart on a horrible bend and ended up skidding out of control. When I went around the corner, I saw this happening so I let go of my accelerator and put full breaks on but my wheels locked up so I nearly lost control. Luckily, not fully though! I skidded just past William and turned to avoid crashing. I needed to take a breath or two before starting again! It all happened very quickly and I remember my heart beating very quickly after the incident. The second incident that I remember was when my wheels locked again and I skidded but the opposite way to last time! My main worry was that people would overtake me! I would recommend the trip to everyone and I can t wait to go again. Josh Buckle On this week, 4 th of May, was international Star Wars day! And before I start, the date of international Star Wars is the 4 th of May because it sounds similar to the phrase that was uttered by the hero Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi to Luke Skywalker. And if you have no clue what any of those names mean then I would recommend spending a few days of your life hunting down these amazing movies and watching them. Well with one exception, you should get the first episode and lock it away before anyone sees it. With the combination of Jar Jar Binks, bad writing, Jar Jar May the 4th Be With You... Binks, the lack of amazing Star Wars characters, Jar Jar Binks, the awkward age gap of Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala and did I mention Jar Jar Binks? So I would highly recommend anyone that has not seen these outstanding movies should pick them up and watch them in this order 4,5,2,3,6 and finally 7. Don t ask me why, just do it, it will make a much more interesting view experience for everyone. Just please, no more Jar Jar Binks. Jack Starkey

His works have been translated into every living language throughout the world and he has the accolade of being the most performed playwright in history. His ground-breaking writing defied the conventions of contemporary theatre by reflecting on taboos of the Elizabethan age (for example portraying a king to be despotic- King Lear Macbeth ), which in turn laid the first foundations for free speech within the theatre (achieved two centuries later with the demise of the Lord Chamberlain s licensing office). To celebrate his birthday a 950 seat pop-up Elizabethan theatre modelled from the Globe Theatre, called the Rose Theatre will be erected in York. The theatre will present famous works from the bard such as A Midsummer Night s Dream and Richard III and throughout its ten week summer season is estimated to bring a total of 7,000,000 to the local economy. Revision Fever! Revision fever has taken over the school as every member of the senior school, from Year 7 to Year 13, prepares for examinations.
