2 2015 KMU OVERHEAD ELECTRIC DISTRIBUTION WORKSHOP SEPT OCT. 2, 2015 MCPHERSON, KANSAS KMU is pleased to offer the 2015 Overhead Electric Distribution Workshop. This year s event will be held at the new KMU Training Center in McPherson. This event will be conducted primarily in the field and will offer training on a variety of real-world scenarios that a lineworker will come across in his or her career. All scenarios are conducted in a simulated energized overhead distribution system and focus on completing tasks with diverse crews. This workshop has something for all levels of lineworker, from apprentice to crew leader, and will provide a variety of hands-on, classroom and demonstration sessions relevant for today s electric distribution personnel. The number of registrants will be limited to 40 for this workshop. Participants will be grouped based upon their experience level and assigned work tasks and sessions suited for that level. Please indicate years of experience on the Attendee Information Form.

4 WHAT TO BRING Due to the courses and activities offered at this workshop, participants are required to bring their own personal hand tools and climbing gear. All participants that choose to climb must use fall protection equipment. No exceptions. In addition, participants must bring: Hard hat & safety glasses Leather gloves Work boots (no tennis shoes allowed) Rubber gloves & sleeves Body harness, lanyard & fall arrest (limited fall arrest available from KMU) High visibility clothing appropriate for the weather Rain gear (just in case) Wearing of PPE will be strictly enforced. Participants without proper PPE will not be allowed on the training field. The APPA Safety Rules will be in effect. EQUIPMENT Note: The Job Training & Safety Department is in need of additional aerial devices and digger derrick units, other than the equipment already provided. Please indicate on the Attendee Information Form if registrants from your utility will be able to bring: Material handling device: one-man or two-man Digger derrick Any additional equipment
