The work that was allocated to this position will be performed by David Cameron on performance data for selection and Tony Pearce preparing and distributing selection notices. Confirmation of the Minutes of Management Meeting of 16th January 2014: Confirmed Business Arising from the Minutes: 1. March/April Newsletter was issued to Clubs. David Lyons has successfully sold all the advertising. KJD commented that the feedback on the Newsletter has been positive. He asked all Clubs and delegates to assist him with information, eg championship results. Clubs were asked to advise KJD if they require more or less copies. Contributions are very welcome. Cutoff date is the end of the month before the next Management meeting. 2. District Boundaries and the Discussion Paper.. See State Councillor s report. 3. Quadrangular Series was a great success both on the green and administratively. The BCC team was undefeated despite the other Zones being arguably the strongest in NSW. A great first up win. The other Zone Administrators were very complementary of how well the event was hosted by The Entrance and how it was conducted by us.. 4. RNSWBA CEO has been invited to attend the May meeting. The intension is that he will be here to attend this meeting and will stay overnight and the next morning do a presentation on computing issues such as membership records, getting around their website and bowls box. 5. North or South Sections for 2015 Pennants. It was moved that the teams in Grade 5 and below be allocated by the Match Committee to sections of all northern or all southern Clubs. A vote by show of hands was held with 28 for and 9 against with 2 abstentions. 6. Business Planning - Michael Beaumont is coming up on 15 th April to assist with the business planning program. SVP Col Bray will be managing this project. Correspondence: 1. Letter from Peter Freestrone 19 th January was read to the meeting. Peter suggested that an Annual Presentation evening be held at Ettalong Memorial BC to make presentations to Championship winners rather than after the game. Concern was expressed that players avoided going to a presentation to collect their winnings. However there was general agreement that change was needed. Delegates advised that they were unaware that they were invited to the presentation evening. It was decided to hold this matter over to the next Management Meeting to allow delegates to seek instruction from their committees. 2. Appeal by Breakers 11/03/14 against diggers using certain players was read to the meeting. Upon receipt Reg Richardson referred the matter to the State Match Committee. There is very little that can be done until the decision of the State Match Committee is known. C. Bray, A Heath and A Tracy who are members of the Match Committee advised that they were not consulted on this matter. The correspondence was accepted Reports 1 Minutes of the BCC Management Meeting 20 th March 2014

2 1. State Councillor a. On the boundaries, it is in KJD s State Council report and it was raised at the State Council meeting in January. Boundary review closed off at the end of January. The next stage in the process is for the Men s board and the Ladies Association to review all feedback in house, with the aim of preparing a second draught for discussion. About 400 responses have been submitted, a lot relating to the distances to be travelled under the new Zone boundaries for Pennants. b. Membership cards have not been issued as yet. They cost about $30,000 to produce. We are the only Association in Australia to have cards. A report from the Royal yesterday was that the cards are on track for circulation at the end of this month. No member will be disadvantaged in any way because of the absence of a membership card. 2. Publicity a. We have been getting somewhere with the Express Advocate. b. Thanks to the Clubs that have submitted Club histories. c. Now completed the Bowls Central Coast History booklet. Each Club has been given a booklet. If Clubs would like to order more copies they should advise the Secretary by the end of April. Cost will be around $5. The Zone History is also available on the web site. 3. Web Site Manager a. Tournament Software has been improved to cover more competitors and more rounds. 4. Under 18 Manager a. Norma Barry reported that the U18 Championships close Tuesday 25 th March. General Business 1. Creighton s sponsor BCC to the tune of $2,000 per annum. A requirement of their sponsorship is that they give a 30min presentation on prepaid funerals. We will be inviting them to do this at one of our future Management Meetings. 2. Frank Simpson queried if we must send a copy of our minutes to the RNSWBA. 3. Tom Cain Everglades complained that wet matches are played on Sunday when the commitment is for play on a Saturday. He suggested that lay days be allowed for wet matches. If a wet match must be played on a Sunday it should be on a special Lay day when the players have plenty of notice. To be considered by the Match Committee.. Executive to check if the Sunday week for wet match convention 4. List players who change clubs on the Web site. Might be possible but Zone not advised of clearances. 5. Executive Committee asked to consider if we should start these meetings at 7.00 pm. Next meeting at Orimbah-Lisarow 15 th May. Meeting closed at 8.50 pm. Reports for Executive and Management Meetings to be held 18 th and 20 th March President Max Le Guier Saturday 8th February - I attended the finals of the Zone 4's at Ettalong Club in company with many other Zone Execs. Our team came back from 31 shots down to only miss out by 2 shots from another win. Well played by all teams - Thanks for the effort. Most Execs were in attendance on the day. State Councillor - Kevin Dring State Council - The following topics were discussed at the SC meeting of 24 th Jan 2014: - Communications - Presentation by RNSWBA CEO Greg Helm of the various methods of communication in use by the Association and the target audience for each. Boundary Review - The next stage in the process is for both boards to review all feedback in-house with the aim of preparing a second draft for circulation and review. The biggest theme of feedback appears to be travelling distances. Bowls NSW Volunteer Awards Meeting endorsed continuation of these awards. All Zones asked to start giving consideration to nominations for 2014 Next State Council Meeting - Recommendation from Zone 15 that the next meeting be held in Sydney and not at the Inter-Zone Seniors Championship as it was becoming too costly for Zones. BCC/Zone 15 won the event undefeated and the other Zones were highly complementary of the organisation of the event by BCC and the host club, The Entrance. Particular thanks were extended by the other competitors to myself and Tony Windley. In a unique initiative the ACT ladies played the CCDWBA ladies which was also won by Central Coast. Working with Children Check BCC has registered as an employer for the purposes of these checks. Next year it will be a requirement that all sporting bodies be registered. Administrators, Umpires and alike don't need to register unless they have face to face contact with children unsupervised, but Coaches will need to register. Thanks - As chairman of the Zone Match Committee I would like to thank those willing workers who assisted my wife with the distribution of the Pennant Books during my enforced stay in Gosford Hospital. Selectors Report - Richard Love Quadrangular - We have had a busy and productive start to the year. Our team of 4 open rinks, 1 x seniors rink and 1 x U25 rink played a great tournament against Illawarra (Z 16), Newcastle (Z2) and the A.C.T. State team at the Entrance in January. On the last day we came from 25 shots behind to beat Newcastle by 9 shots and finish as the only unbeaten team. A highlight of the two days was Darren Morrison s rink winning 28 to 9 against Irish international Jeremy Henry who is the Australian Indoor Singles champion. It was great to welcome back Michael Stead and to the side. Along with Michael, Bruce Jewell and Pat Reynolds will be available for selection in the next Open side. Our Open and Emerging squads - have been working hard at training on Monday nights where a variety of topics have been covered before skills training on the green. Our Zone is very fortunate to have David Cameron, Chairman of the State Coaching Committee, actively involved in these sessions and providing feedback and video analysis where required. Thank-you David. Seniors round robin was played at East Cessnock on 3/3/2014. In the morning we played Zone 6 and won on 5 of 6 rinks. Our top rink played a great game against Rex Johnston losing by 2 shots. In the afternoon we played old rivals Zone 2 who played both games on the carpet while we had to adjust from a slow grass green. We showed great fight to come from 36 shots down with 20 ends to go to lose by 2 shots on the big board. A mighty effort. We will soon select the 12 players to represent the zone at the State interzone Seniors championship at Lake Conjola/Ulladulla Steve Glasson - Finally we have arranged for Steve Glasson to speak to our squads on Monday 5th May at Terrigal at 7pm. Steve is the current Australian coach and will talk to the players about taking their game to the next level and personal and team disciplines. The evening is restricted to those players who have been active in our training programs and the Seniors team selected for Lake Conjola/Ulladulla. Under 18 s Report Norma Barry Emerging squad training - On 20th January, I attended the Emerging Squad Session at Terrigal. Then on 10th February, I attended the Emerging Squad Session at Ettalong. Afraid I was unable to attend the Session at Halekulani on 25th March. Mitchell McDonnell At Ettalong I asked the father of our current BCC U18 Singles Champion Mitchell McDonnell (Halekulani) to let me know how Mitchell did in Melbourne in the Under 18 Australian Open, Mitchell played very well but lost his 3 games to ACT s Luke Hansson (21-18), WA s David Dowley (21-13) and Tasmania s Lachlan Simms (21-18). However all these players represent their State and 4 Minutes of the BCC Management Meeting 20 th March 2014

5 Mitchell can be very proud of his efforts against them. Mitchell's 12 year old sister Hayley is hoping to join the Under 18's Juniors Squad.
