President s Report Once again we bid farewell to another great season of cricket in our Association, that I trust everyone enjoyed as much as I did. Congratulations to all the Premiership-winning sides and all the individual trophy winners. The competitions were all hard fought and the semi-finalists were not decided until the last round in many grades. As every year the stand out performers can look forward to filling places in higher grades, while all us old fellows can hopefully fill spots in the lower grades. Year after year, our District can only survive with the dedication of the Senior Management Committee. Thank you to all the Club Representatives for their time and efforts, with special thanks to Peter Lea, as Senior Vice-President and Grading Committee Chairman, Allan Carver, Association Treasurer, for his efforts at keeping our District in the black and Hilary Griffith for the endless hours he puts into our District representing us all over town. Unfortunately, some clubs are still having trouble finding a representative, which leaves those clubs out of the decisions affecting them and their players. In any sport it is essential to have the support and contributions of sponsors. This season we continued to have the support of the Club, and it was greatly appreciated, along with all the other sponsors who supported individual Association representative teams. We trust that the conduct of all our representative players has been a true reflection of the esteem in which we hold our sponsors and the advertising has been beneficial to them. We look forward to continuing these arrangements in the years ahead. Our Representatives sides all performed well, with the Goulder Shield side performing the best, by taking out the final in a nail-biting finish. Congratulations girls and we hope you will all stay together next season to defend the title. Thank you to all the coaches, managers, parents and all the supporters that donated their time to help our Up and Coming Champions. Thanks to Peter Harris, Melissa Packer, Denise Carver, John Hopper and all the Junior Management Committee for their efforts in organising the Junior Competition this season. A District is nothing without its juniors. In closing, I reiterate how enjoyable the past year has been, serving as President of The Hawkesbury District Cricket Association. It has been a privilege and a pleasure to be closely involved in the District and I look forward to being a part of the Association in the coming years, as I believe the Hawkesbury is, and will continue to be, a District on the rise. Yours in cricket Peter Seagrott President 4

Association Secretary s Report It is with pleasure that I present the 107th Annual Report of the Hawkesbury Cricket Association Incorporated. The previous Annual Meeting was held on 12 July 2004 and attendance of 31 persons was as follows: Mr P. Seagrott (President), Mr P. Lea (Senior Vice-President), Mr H.J.F. Griffith (Secretary), Mr Allan Carver (Treasurer), Mr P. Harris (Junior Chairperson), Messrs K. Birdsey, C. Eilbeck, I. Johnston and R. Matheson (Life Members), Messrs D. Apps, M. Byrne, R. Bremner, Mark Van der Reyden, R. Thompson (Bligh Park), Messrs S. Hile, P. Noble (), Ms Tammy Barber and Messrs Trevor Barber, Graham Drury, Steve Richards (Glossodia), Ms C. Langham, Ms R. Bennett and Mr G. Hitchcock (Maroota), Messrs D. Baker, J. Boersma (), Mr H. Stephens (Pitt Town Sports), Messrs W. Packer, L. Johnson (), Ms S. Garay and Mr F. Garay (Windsor Leagues) and Ms M. Packer (Assistant Secretary) An apology was tendered by Mr W. Bartley (Pitt Town Sports) Association By-Laws A number of amendments to the By-Laws and Playing Rules were passed. These included changes to again award trophies for individuals in the Under 11 competition, to provide for stricter guidelines for player-umpire attire, to allow replacements in senior matches for emergency service workers and volunteers called away from matches and to allow the executive a greater timeframe to move semi-final and final matches if required. Delegates Messrs Hilary Griffith (4) and Peter Harris (1) represented Hawkesbury at the four meetings of the NSW Districts Cricket Association during the season. Mr Griffith was again elected to the Executive of the NSW District Cricket Association and served on the Inter-District and Appeals Committees. Club Changes Prior to the season commencing, the HDCA was informed by Riverstone RSL Cricket Club that it had altered its name to Riverstone Cricket Club. The alteration was approved. The Macquarie Towns Cricket Club advised that teams would not be fielded and that the club was being dissolved. The Association received this advice with regret. Restructure of the Association At the time of preparation of this report, an Association sub-committee is active in the development of proposals for the restructure of the HDCA to amalgamate both the Junior and Senior Management Committees into one Management Committee. A consultative process involving a wide group of individuals and organisations will come forward with proposed amendments to the Objects, Rules and By-Laws at the 2005 Annual General Meeting. The proposals seek to address four main issues within the HDCA, viz: A shortage of volunteers to fill Office-Bearer positions with the HDCA under the current arrangements Attendance record of some clubs at management committee meetings Double payment of audit, bank and incorporation fees Perceived management inconsistencies and communication difficulties Hilary Griffith Association Secretary 10 May

HAWKESBURY DISTRICT CRICKET ASSOCIATION Representative Cricket in Martin Shield Quarter-Finalists Season was again an enjoyable one for all involved although unfortunately it was nowhere near as successful as we had hoped it would be. After being finalists last year and premiers the season before, we had every intention of going one step further this season and securing our second premiership in three years. Unfortunately it wasn t to be. This season saw a few changes to our squad. The retirements of Ross McConville and Frank Coutis from representative cricket allowed new boys Matt Smith, Russ Trokus and Dale Matheson to represent the Hawkesbury district in season All three acquitted themselves well throughout the year. Once again opening batsman Alan Mitchell led from the front and was a model of consistency. Mitch has had only one score below 50 in 14 innings over three years. This is a remarkable achievement by easily the most outstanding cricketer in the competition. His form this year again allowed us to finish on top of our pool and advance to the final eight. The quarter-final was against Fairfield at Turnbull Oval, and on a hot day we won the toss and elected to bat. Another 50 from Mitchell had us well-placed for a big score but his departure saw a collapse and we limped to lunch at Some good lower-order batting from Matheson allowed us to reach 150 but it was always going to be difficult to defend on a good batting wicket. Fairfield got off to a flying start and was 2-50 after six overs. However tight bowling and great fielding saw them require seven runs off the 55th and final over with two wickets in hand. Fairfield regained their composure and scored the winning runs off the second-last ball. Our campaign was over. Once again though, the boys all enjoyed the season. The support from the Association over the last three seasons has been remarkable and it has made playing cricket for the Hawkesbury district a pleasure. Every side we played over the last three years has commented how great the support for our side has been. Thanks must go to the Executive of the HDCA, in particular our manager Allan Carver. Allan gave up his time to run our side and without him our success would not have been possible. Also, thanks must go to Hilary Griffith and Peter Seagrott for their continued support. I must also thank our sponsors, the Club, for their continued support. Finally, to the players who have given up their time, I thank you. Your efforts this year once again have been tremendous. Be proud of your achievements. David Byrnes Captain 6

Durham Shield (Under 19) TEAM: Ben Condon (C), Ben Adams, Brad Boersma, Ben Cain, Marty Clifton, Evan Frost, Brady Harris, Trent Hawkett, Dominic Miller, David Noble, Brady Smith, Cameron Watson, Cameron Worland, With only four players back from last year, the side was mainly made up of local players in their first year out of junior cricket. We had players from First Grade to Fifth Grade, averaging just over 17 years of age. Hopefully the 10 players that are eligible to play again next year will form the nucleus of an extremely good side. Time and commitment will tell. As the manager of this side, I found every player to have a great will to win, with enough fun in his mind to really enjoy the competition. It was a distinct pleasure to be associated with this team of young men. I would also like to thank Neill Cain and Michele Harris for their help and assistance during the competition. Round 1 31 October 2004 Lost v Parramatta at Turnbull Oval After winning the toss, Hawkesbury decided to bat first on a good batting wicket. Due to some great accurate Parramatta bowling we found the score 3-20 after just nine overs and the team knew that they had to dig deep and build a strong partnership. We found just the right two players to start the fight back with Trent Hawkett (stumped on 38), and Ben Cain (caught on a quick fire 60) dramatically increasing the run rate. They hit 75 runs in 12 hot overs. Dom Miller went, well caught for 30 off only 13 scoring shots while David Noble batted steadily at the other end for a well-constructed 28. The Hawks finished with very credible off the allotted 55 overs. Parramatta batted well to build a good score. However after 20 overs they were 20 runs behind, but had only lost one wicket at this stage of the game. They lost only a further five wickets before passing our score in the 51st over. Cameron Watson (with 1-25 off eight overs), Cam Worland (1-27 off nine) and Brady Harris (2-30 off seven) were the pick of the bowlers against a strong Parramatta batting side. Round 2-28 November 2004 Lost v Hornsby-Ku-ring-gai and Hills at Berowra Oval Hornsby won the toss and batted first. Our bowlers were well supported in the field with eight catches (including three in the deep by Cameron Watson). Evan Frost snared 4-51 off 13 overs with Ben Cain grabbing 2-22 off eight. Hornsby was eventually bowled out for 190 off 46 overs. Our openers struggled early, both out cheaply to lbw decisions. Brad Boersma batted patiently for 20 before being tragically run out. Trent Hawkett batted strongly, scoring a great 53 including eight boundaries. A middle order collapse losing 3-3 did not help our cause. Ben Adams came in late in the innings, hitting 23 before being caught on the fence chasing down the Hornsby score. Hawkesbury was all out for 147 in the 42nd over. Round 3-19 December 2004 Lost on run rate v Camden at Raby 2 Ben Condon won the toss and decided to bat. Opener Brad Boersma got the faintest nick to be caught behind on 9. 9

Cam Worland built towards a good score of 51, before being the 6th wicket to fall with the score on 100 after 28 overs. Four lbws for only 22 runs in the middle order slowed the run rate down with our score ending up after only 47 overs. Opening bowlers Cameron Watson (with 0-19 off 12 overs) and Brady Smith (3-36 off seven overs) had the Camden side worried. Ben Condon broke a promising partnership getting two quick wickets. With victory staring us in the face the heavens opened up with a flash flood and gale force winds, stopping the game with a win awarded to Camden on run rate. A game that we could have easily won had been cruelly taken away from us. Round 4-9 January2005 Won v Fairfield-Liverpool at Turnbull Oval With Ben Condon once again winning the toss, Hawkesbury batted first on a well-prepared Bruce Earle wicket at Turnbull Oval. Opening the batting, Cam Worland continued where he had left off, scoring a magnificent 76, hitting the ball to all points of the ground. Middle order batsmen Ben Adams (36 runs) and Dom Miller (38), hammered the bowling, with Brady Harris scoring a quick 25 not out to help the score along to off 55 overs. Interestingly all eight wickets were caught by Fairfield-Liverpool. Cam Watson bowled quite superbly taking 3-31 off 16 overs with seven maidens. At the other end Brady Smith bowled a great line and length (0-17 off eight), while Cam Worland got 3-19 off ten overs with four maidens. A few batters got starts but with seven brilliant catches in the field the opposition was never in the hunt, all out for 169 in the 52nd over. Round 5-16 January 2005 Won v Northern Districts at Somerville Oval Ben Condon yet again won the toss and once again backed his batters, deciding to have first use of a grassy wicket. David Noble put his hand up to open the batting and treated the opening bowlers with distain, chancing his hand and smacking 42 off 15 scoring shots. Cam Worland had a rare failure with a duck, quickly followed by Dom Miller and Ben Cain who hardly troubled the scorers. At 4-75 we were in a bit of trouble when Ben Adams and Ben Condon combined for a 75 run fifthwicket partnership. Ben Condon was eventually out for a hard-hitting 30. Ben Adams continued to pillage the bowlers, hitting at will, and teaming with Brady Smith to smash a 136 run, 7th wicket partnership in 14 overs of power hitting. Brady was out on 70 bowled by a beauty. Ben Adams was finally caught, after scoring an incredible 125, with 17 fours and a six. Cameron Watson remained not out on 11, rounding the score at a fantastic 305 off 55 overs. If Cam Worland failed with the bat, he made up for it with the ball, capturing the first three wickets for just 8 runs, and ending up with 3-22 off seven overs, including 14 runs off the last over he bowled. Cam Watson once again bowled tightly with 0-15 off eight overs with three maidens. Ben Cain calmly chipped in with 4-18 off nine overs with three maidens and spinner Marty Clifton cleaned up the tail with Northern Districts was all out for 116 off 39 overs. Peter Harris Manager 10

Watson Shield (Under 16) TEAM Raza Khan (C), Ben England (vc), Jason Airey, Aaron Bayne, Matthew Carpini, Clinton Carver, Anton Clasquin, Patrick Green, Brandon Gregory, Kasim Khan, Jamie McDonald, David Wilcox. Game 1 Camden defeated Hawkesbury 119 The Hawks won the toss and chose to bat. Anton Clasquin and Kasim Khan put together an opening partnership of 24. However that s as good as it got, due to the constant loss of wickets, leaving Camden a small and very gettable target to chase. Batting honours went to Kasim Khan (35) and Raza Khan (30). The Hawks tried their best to take as many wickets as they could, however they could only dismiss three batters. Jason Airey, Kasim Khan and Aaron Bayne each picked up a wicket. Game 2 Hawkesbury 5-98(dec) defeated Newcastle 46 and The Hawks were out for revenge against Newcastle as the two teams had played each other every year, with the Hawks being defeated each time. Newcastle won the toss and chose to bat. From the start, the hawks were all about getting the job done quickly, taking wickets at regular intervals. The Hawks bowled Newcastle out for 46 after 28 overs. Kasim Khan was a standout with the ball, taking 5-21 off 9 overs, Jason Airey also bowled well taking 3-3 off 6 overs, Jamie McDonald and Clinton Carver also took a wicket. Ben England was excellent in the field with three catches. In reply, the Hawks started slowly, losing 2-5, however Anton Clasquin (21), David Wilcox (36 not out) and Aaron Bayne (22) managed to get the Hawks total up to 5-98 before declaring. With Newcastle very determined to avoid an outright loss, the Hawks found it very difficult to gain wickets. Newcastle finished the day at Bowling honours went to Ben England 2-14, with Jason Airey, Brandon Gregory and Raza Khan each grabbing a wicket. Game 3 Sutherland 214 defeated Hawkesbury 99 The Hawks won the toss and sent Sutherland into bat first. The Hawks took a wicket in the first over, however they waited a long time for the next to come at With wickets hard to come by Aaron Bayne stepped up to the bowling crease and took a magnificent 5-21 off six overs, which included a well deserved hat-trick. Kasim Khan also bowled well, taking 2-31 off 12 overs, with Clinton Carver and Jamie McDonald also taking a wicket. Pat Green had an outstanding game behind the stumps with four catches and only three byes from 60 overs. The hawks got off to a slow start after being 2-10 due to the strong Sutherland bowling attack. Ben England tried to steady the ship by scoring a hard earned 28. With the score looking bleak at 8-55, Jamie McDonald (16 not out) and Jason Airey (26) combined to score a 9th wicket partnership of 40. However this was not enough, with the Hawks dismissed for 99. Game 4 Blacktown 331 defeated Hawkesbury 166 Blacktown won the toss and chose to bat. The Hawks got off to a good start by keeping the opposition to 3-31 off 10 overs. This pressure showed with Blacktown slumping to 5-55, however Hawkesbury backed off the pressure for a short period of time, which was long enough for Blacktown to lift the run rate to 5 runs per over. The Hawks had Blacktown at before the opposition compiled a 10th wicket stand of 113 to set a monster score of 331. Bowling honours went to Kasim Khan 3-40, Jamie McDonald 2-68, with Jason Airey, Clinton Carver and Matt Carpini all taking a wicket. 13

Hawkesbury got off to a great start thanks to strong batting by Ben England (32) and Anton Clasquin (34), lifting the team score to 3-81 after their dismissals. Good contributions by David Wilcox (17) and Aaron Bayne (15) had the score at 5-132, however the strength of the Blacktown attack showed by taking a couple of quick wickets to have the Hawks in trouble. Pat Green put up a strong fight, putting on 43 in the last eight overs, this however was still not enough to prevent another Hawkesbury loss. The Hawks were finally dismissed for 166. Game 5 Fairfield Liverpool 233 drew with Hawkesbury 3-99 Fairfield won the toss and chose to bat first. With Jamie McDonald, Jason Airey and Ben England each taking an early wicket, the Hawks had the opposition on the ropes at 3-42 off 14 overs. As the Hawks continued to take wickets, Fairfield continued to add runs, with the score at 6-124, the opposition took advantage of some ordinary fielding to reach a healthy score of 233 before being dismissed. Bowling honours went to Ben England 3-45, Aaron Bayne 2-23, and Raza Khan Jamie McDonald, Jason Airey and Kasim Khan all chipped in with a wicket each. With the weather looking very threatening, the Hawks knew they had to score at a steady rate without losing too many wickets. Kasim Khan and Anton Clasquin started with an opening partnership of 24 when Kasim was dismissed for 14, and with the wicket of Anton for 22 the score was Ben England and Aaron Bayne also added 24 before Aaron s dismissal for 11, with the score at Ben England and David Wilcox added 33 to take the score to 3-99 off 28 overs, then the rain hit, and it didn t stop! This resulted in a drawn game due to the Hawks innings being two overs shy of making the game official. I wish to thank all the players for their effort and support they have given throughout this season. I would also like to thank the parents for helping with afternoon tea, getting the kids to and from training and the games, and also for their support towards me not only this season but for the past five seasons. It is much appreciated. Thank you!!! Daniel Woods Coach 14

In a strong pool that had three finalists and semi-finalists from previous years, each match was going to be a challenge. To meet this challenge each player decided to do the hard work necessary to be able to perform in the competitive representative arena. This resolve and determination led to very creditable results which would have been even better if not for the interruption by a thunderstorm in the last game which prevented us from batting, producing a draw. The team took to the rigorous practice and training regime implemented with enthusiasm and application. The whole team displayed an ever-present hunger for advice and guidance matched only by their keenness to put what was learned into practice. Steady improvement was noticeable as their skills and approach to the game benefited from their desire and positive attitude. Their enthusiasm was matched only by the patience of their parents as they waited til their boys were finished for the afternoon. One of the most pleasing aspects of the season was that the team s drive to improve, and hopefully succeed, continued throughout the entire representative program. It was not affected by results because as a group they love to play; they enjoy the game and the contest. They love to learn and test their skills against the best. As a result they are easy to coach. They accept there is a lot to learn but are prepared to do the hard work that brings rewards. The team is to be congratulated for the respect they showed each other, their opposition and the game. Each game was played in good spirit and with great purpose, which has improved them as cricketers and individuals. They are to be commended as excellent ambassadors for our region and Association. In closing I would like to thank and congratulate the parents and families. The support shown to the team was second to none and your patience with me was also appreciated. It will be many years before the boys realise how lucky they are. Thanks also to the support the Junior Committee gives to provide the opportunity for the boys to compete at this level and represent their district. Your hard work is appreciated. Thanks also to the Macefields for managing the team, everyone who helped in the canteen and with afternoon teas, and for Carolyn, David and John for scoring. Thanks also to the Hawkesbury Grade club for allowing us to use their facilities and the involvement and encouragement from the First Grade team and other senior players who contributed to our practices. I look forward to many more successful seasons in the coming years. Ian Alchin Coach 17

Moore Shield (Under 14) TEAM Tom Lang (captain), Sam Belcastro, Jamie Cruickshank, ChrisHaddad, Mitchell Hasick, Drew Hile, Matthew Kingston, Taffy Lewis, Kieran Meurant, Sam Mullens, Glen Napier, Lonny Nourse This season s Hawkesbury Moore Shield team won just one of its five preliminary matches however this did not reflect their efforts or competitiveness in matches and at training. Selecting the side in May proved beneficial as it allowed time to prepare for the season and have new players get more of an insight into the demands and expectations of representative cricket. With this group suffering massive defeats and not winning a match during the past two seasons, four new players were selected with the aim of lifting the team s performance. This brought some criticism but proved justified with the team scoring more runs and taking more wickets than the previous season. At the start of the season our team objective was simple be more competitive in matches. This aim was achieved in four of the five matches. In round one we pushed last season s runners-up into the last hour to find a winner. In round two we belted a hapless Gladesville by 150 runs and round three against Canterbury-Wests was decided in the 120 th and final over. In round four we played poor cricket against Illawarra and we lost the round five clash against neighbours Blacktown in a rain-affected match where our opponents had the better of conditions. This season we feel as though the team progressed from a side that would be easily beaten to a side that could take up the fight and push their opponents for victory. What this team needs to do is now progress from here and win the tight situations. This can be achieved with improvement in finer areas of their game, which includes but is not limited to: watching the game more closely when waiting to bat encouraging the batsmen from the sideline during difficult and easy periods of the innings more constructive and beneficial talk when fielding analyse a batsman s strengths and weaknesses when bowling and set fields accordingly batting application and plan to suit the situation of the game We are both grateful for the support we received from the parents. To all the mums and dads who assisted with the preparation of breakfast, lunches and afternoon teas at home matches, thank you. It contributed to a tremendous team spirit and such volunteer work is appreciated by us and the players. Thank you to Colleen Mullens, Karen Napier and Sandy Kingston for your efforts with scoring the matches. The efforts of the Junior Management Committee are appreciated. Their hard work enabled players to participate in a successful pre-season camp, enjoy the cap presentation evening and annual presentation night. To Denise Carver and Peter Harris, well done. Our side had four players selected in the Cricket NSW Emerging Blues program Metropolitan West U/14 squad. Congratulations to Chris Haddad, Tom Lang, Sam Mullens and Glen Napier. Finally we thank the players. Whilst we worked hard, set high expectations and demanded a lot we are proud of the effort you all gave. It is evident through statistics that this side performed the best they had in many seasons. Best Wishes. Andrew Sadleir Shane Mott 20

Gee Shield (Under 13) Semi-Finalists TEAM Brett Jones (C), Josh Airey, James Dwyer, Matt Gooley, Scott Heaney, David Klineberg, Asher Larnach, Ben Leyshon, Dale McKay, Luke Power, Reece Tuckerman, Joel Tynan. Round 1 Hawkesbury v Sutherland at Jannali Oval Sutherland won the toss and decided to bowl first on a large slow ground. After being 1-33 and then suddenly 7-57 things were not looking great for the 13s. Joel Tynan No 8 and Luke Power No 9 put their heads down to make a greatly needed partnership of 65. James Dywer followed suit adding to our total. The 13s finished their innings at after 60 overs. Great batting by Joel Tynan 35, Luke Power 25 not out and James Dwyer 13 not out. Hawkesbury s turn to bowl and bowl well they did. Sutherland struggled to get runs against good tight bowling and never looked like getting on top. Sutherland finished their innings all out 69 against some top bowling. Dale McKay 4-23 off 12, Josh Airey 3-14 off 10, Asher Larnach 2-7 off 5, Ben Leyshon 1-4 off 5, a good win to start the season. Round 2 Hawkesbury v North Shore at South Maroota North Shore won the toss and elected to bat starting slow and never really got wound up. Hawkesbury bowled tight all through North Shore s innings and bowled them out for 130. Great bowling by David Klineberg 3-16 off 8, Joel Tynan 2-12 off 5, Dale McKay 2-22 off 12, Josh Airey 1-30 off 12, Asher Larnach 1-15 off 5. Hawkesbury s innings was great to watch passing North Shore at in the 43rd over. A convincing win with excellent batting by Dale McKay 81 not out, and David Klineberg 25 not out. Round 3 Hawkesbury v Hornsby-Ku-ring-gai and Hills at South Maroota Hawkesbury batted first after winning the toss and got off to a steady start facing some good tight bowling. A good strong partnership between Brett Jones 82 not out and Scott Heaney 50 saw the Hawks reach a total of after 60 overs. Hawkesbury bowled well, dismissing Hornsby for 149. Great bowling by Dale McKay 4-27 off 12, Asher Larnach 2-26 off 8, Scott Heaney 1-5 off 5, Ben Leyshon 1-18 of 10, David Klineberg 1-32 off 10. A good win against a good opposition. Thank you Chris Smith for filling in at short notice. Round 4 Hawkesbury v Manly-Warringah at Nolan Reserve, Manly Winning the toss Hawkesbury batted first on a large ground against a very impressive fielding side. Manly were tight in the field and I lost count of how many times they threw the stumps down from quite a distance accounting for two run outs. Hawkesbury still managed to post a good score despite Manly s fielding efforts with a brilliant century by Brett Jones 103 with help from Dale McKay 23, James Dwyer not out 15 hitting a big six to finish the innings at

Manly started slowly but steadily being 0-43 but once the two opening batsmen were out there was little resistance to the Hawkesbury spin bowling machine. Manly made 111 in reply with top bowling by David Klineberg 4-25 off 12, Dale McKay 3-17 off 12, Asher Larnach 1-5 off 5, and Joel Tynan 1-9 off 5. Another solid win with the boys playing well together. Round 5 Hawkesbury v Penrith at South Maroota A win against Penrith would see Hawkesbury into the semi-finals and things were looking good when we won the toss and elected to bat. A good start by the opening pair David Klineberg 8 and Reece Tuckerman 33 set the tone of the innings with a partnership of 49 off 12 overs. Another century by Brett Jones 113 not out knocked the Penrith bowlers around the park at will with good support from Scott Heaney 27, Matt Gooley 16, James Dwyer 20 not out again. After 60 overs Hawks were 5-264, a great effort against an undefeated side so far. Penrith s turn to bat saw them lose their first wicket at the 5th over They were trying to score quick runs without too much success when a massive thunderstorm came over and stopped play. Penrith s innings was reduced to 39 overs due to the rain and they needed 4.4 runs per over or 172 to win as that was the run rate of Hawkesbury s 60 overs. Hawkesbury bowled well and very tight with fielding to match letting Penrith score only 9-99 after 39 overs. A great win to the 13 s with three run outs and wickets shared between Scott Heaney 2-11 off 8, James Dwyer 2-19 off 7, Asher Larnach 1-16 off 8 and Matt Gooley 1-12 off 4. Semi-Final Hawkesbury v Camden at South Maroota Camden won the toss and elected to bat starting their innings slowly and steadily building. Hawkesbury bowled well at the start but couldn t keep their catches giving Camden the break they needed to score a large total of 249. A good spell of bowling by Matt Gooley 3-21 finished Camden s innings in the 60th over. Hawkesbury had a big job to do and started the innings well with a great opening stance by Reece Tuckerman 27 and David Klineberg 51 in quick time. Dale McKay added 34 but the 13 s lost a few wickets in the middle order which slowed the run rate. Some good hitting by Joel Tynan 16, Ben Leyshon 22 not out and Luke Power 13 not out saw Hawkesbury s innings come to a close at The 13s just ran out of overs in the run chase and they must be given full praise for an excellent effort to get this close. As always the boys never gave up and gave it all right to the end. Well done fellas. The season was a good one for the 13s with five strong wins and one narrow loss in the semi final. This team gets stronger and stronger as the seasons pass and I feel sooner or later they will get to a final and win it. The 13s batting improved this season due to net work and the use of a bowling machine supplied by Darren Leyshon. Thank you Darren and the help of a few fathers. I would like to thank our scorers Jim Gooley, Craig Tuckerman, Hugh McKay, and Doug Klineberg. Thank you to the mums and Fay Hitchcock for organising afternoon tea. Thanks boys for a great effort throughout the season. Steve Jones Coach 25
