2 Are you interested in figure skating? Skating with the UNH FFSC The UNH Freestyle Figure Skating Club welcomes skaters of all levels! Our highly qualified coaches are here to help you reach your personal skating goals. We will help beginners to master basic skills and advanced skaters to past test levels, prepare for local competitions, or keep up their skating skill recreationally. Performing Opportunities Throughout the year we offer two opportunities to perform. In the fall semester we perform as a group at a UNH Men s Hockey game intermission. During the spring semester, we host a show that is open to all members to perform solo and group routines, meet accomplished guest skaters from around the area, and share our talent with the UNH community! Community Service Aside from skating, our organization offers several opportunities to participate in community service events at UNH. This past year, we held an open skate day for UNH Best Buddies and participated in Relay for Life with the American Cancer Society. Our mission is to create a fun and respectful environment for athletes to achieve their personal figure skating goals and receive support from other skaters. 4 What do you need to know about the UNH Freestyle Figure Skating Club? Who can join? Skaters of all levels are welcome to join the club! Our coaches will help beginners to master basic skills and advanced skaters to pass a test, prepare for local competitions, or keep up their skills recreationally. Where and when do you skate? As a club, we skate once a week at the Whittemore Center Arena on campus. If you are looking for additional skating time, the Whittemore Center offers open skate (free to students!) and there are freestyle sessions offered at the local Dover and Churchill rinks. While the day of the week that we skate varies, we always practice at 6:30-7:30am. Is there a cost to join? Yes, all members are expected to help cover the expense of ice time and coaching. The cost is determined by the number of members and is paid per semester. We hold several yearly fundraisers to offset this cost. Do you perform as a club? Yes, there are two opportunities to perform! We perform as a group at a UNH hockey game intermission and host a show in the spring for members to perform solo and group routines. You are not required to perform, but these are great opportunities to show off your skills! Can I compete at the colligate level? Although our mission is merely to provide skaters with a supportive training environment on campus, there are many opportunities in the region for skaters to compete, take USFSA tests, and perform in shows on an individual basis. Aside from skating, our club is the perfect place to meet students with similar interests and become a part of the UNH community. We hold socials throughout the year such as apple picking, attending workout classes, and watching skating events on TV. We also do community service events such as Relay for Life.

5 Sample Member Expense Summary Each member is expected to help cover the cost of ice time and coaching. Expenses are determined by the number of members signed up for the club and are paid on a per semester basis. We hold several fundraisers throughout the year to offset these costs.
