1 SUNNYBROW SUN Issue 1 Sunnybrow Sun November Issue 1 A MAGAZINE FOR PUPILS OF SUNNYBROW PRIMARY SCHOOL ISSUE 1 Welcome to the Sunnybrow Sun! by Justin Brunskill Welcome to a brand new magazine for pupils of Sunnybrow Primary School, written by pupils from Sunnybrow Primary School. In each issue you will find: the funniest jokes ever; a fantastic story or poem of the week; all of the latest sports news; nature watch; riddles and maths puzzles and a section on art tips for all of the art lovers out there. If you would like to enter any of our competitions, please follow the instructions and pass on your entry to a member of the magazine team. Jokes What happens if you through a snow ball at an angel? 2 SUNNYBROW SUN NOVEMBER ISSUE 1 2 Tag rugby competition by Justin Brunskill Rules of the game Firstly, you had to put on your tags and make sure they were not tucked in. Next you had to get in position for the game. When you have the ball, you are not allowed to pass forward or push anybody, because it is a no contact game. The aim of the game is to get as many tries (goals) as you can over the line and the team with the most goals win the game. The competition We played against teams from 5 other schools and had a great day. Even though we didn t win, we still tried our best and had a great time. 3 SUNNYBROW SUN NOVEMBER ISSUE 1 3 AUTUMN WATCH Autumn Watch by Brodie Parkinson FOR MORE INFORMATION Visit the BBC s Autumn Watch website and look out for Winter Watch in the next issue. Let s look for some signs of autumn such as: the leaves changing colours; squirrels burring their acorns; shiny brown conkers falling from chestnut trees; spiders webs glistening with frost and hedgehogs hibernating in their leafy palace. Riddles of the week What has no legs and arms but 2 hands? What gets smaller the more you use it? Story of the week By Angel Smith The first person to answer each riddle wins 2 points for their team! As soon as the other legendary figures found out about this, he got abolished to the North Pole to help out Santa Clause; it was also for Santa to keep his eye on him. While Santa was making, building and fixing toys, Jack Frost was planning his revenge. Jack Frost decided to find a way to become Santa, so he went to the number 1 elf and asked him, Is there a way for Santa to well not be Santa anymore and someone else like me to become Santa? The number one elf replied, Yes, Story of the week there is a special snow globe that Santa has to hold and declare I Wish I had never been Abico Santa eum, ille at et, all conventio and obruo then duis he is no longer Santa. Jack then asked where ullamcorper ut, neo demoveo. Vel reprobo: the hall of snow globes was but, Number one elf replied, Sorry but that s classified. The next day, Jack Frost saw Santa entering the hall of snow globes. Hm, Jack Frost said to himself, as he wondered what was going on. Later on, Jack Frost said to Santa that he had a present for him, which looked a lot like a snow globe What would happen next?
4 SUNNYBROW SUN NOVEMBER ISSUE 1 4 Art Attack! To make these angels you will need: paint and card or paper 1. For the dress, press your hand in paint, then press it in the middle of the paper. 2. Next, press both hands in different paint and just lower than the dress (either side) 3. After that, turn your paper and dip your finger in pink paint go around and around for the head. 4. Then, use your finger tips to do arms. Join them to the robe and add some hands too. 5. Use a hair coloured paint and finger print hair. Add a halo above the hair. 6. Finally, dot some eyes and a nose and use your finger to make a mouth. An interview with by Brodie Parkinson An interview with Mrs Gair What s your favourite lesson of the week? Mrs Gair s favourite lesson of the week is numeracy. Which clubs do you like to do? Mrs Gair likes to do gardening and craft clubs. What s the hardest part of your job? The hardest part of her job is planning and thinking of new things to do with her class. Why did you decide to be a teacher? There were lots of family members who were teachers and Mrs Gair liked to work with children. How did you become a teacher? Mrs. Gair became a teacher by going to a teacher training college for 3 hard years of training.
