Monique Rowett House Captains Will Gilding Principal Indi Cashin Maddie Petrolo Students in Grades 1, 2 and 3 have been exploring PRINTING. Printing is when marks are left on paper by something that has been pressed on to it. The Grade 1 students finger printed Autumn trees. They used RED and YELLOW paint and when mixed together it created ORANGE. These colours were used to create the leaves on the trees. The Grade 2 students discovered that if you mix YELLOW and BLUE paint you make GREEN. The students used GREEN paint to print a pattern on a turtle using cardboard, straws and pencils. The cut out turtles were placed on a printed background that represented either the sea or the sand. The Grade 3 students created monoprints. They discovered that if you mix BLUE and RED paint you make PURPLE paint. They used the PURPLE paint to create a monoprint of a Purple People Eater. All work is on display in the Art Room. Please come and have a look. Also check out the Art Blog Irymple South Primary School Newsletter - Issue 18, Week 8, Term 2,

5 GIRLS NETBALL BOYS NETBALL RUGBY MIXED SOCCER Interschool Sport Last Thursday we went to Nichols Point Primary School to play mixed soccer. Unfortunately, we lost 12 1 their way. We thought that our best players were Sam, Jordan, Caleb and Unique. In the second game we drew 1 all. We think our best players were Eliza, Jessica and Jorja. In the third game we lost 6 0 their way. We think the best players were Hannah, Ella and Cody. Even though we lost 2 and drew 1 we think we did really well and tried our best. We would also like to thank Mrs Casale for being there with us and cheering us on. Andrew Mathieson, Sunraysia Ruby, wrote the following report Irymple South has thrown out the challenge to their Mildura Primary School rivals as the most promising rugby league talent in the region. Relatively new to the sport, Irymple South dominated the Mildura Country-Irymple group on Thursday, capturing both the boys tackle title and the girls tag win comfortably at Nichols Point. The grade 5 and 6 boys group winners will now join Mildura and Ranfurly schools from the Mildura City 1 group, as three of six teams to reach the Sunraysia primary schools finals later this month. Irymple South Primary is well placed to qualify for the Billy Slater Shield after extraordinarily being ranked both the first and second best team in their Mildura Country-Irymple group. The school was able to field two sides in the gala day at Nichols Point, with Irymple South A defeating Irymple South B 28-4 in the final. Earlier, Irymple South A was undefeated through its group matches following easy wins over Nichols Point PS 32-0, Irymple PS 32-0 and Irymple South B Irymple South B qualified for the final from a victory against Irymple and also 16-8 against Nichols Point. In the girls tag (non-tackle) competition, Irymple South proved too good for Irymple 12-4 in the final. Irymple South had defeated both Irymple and Nichols Point by the same score in the group matches to also take a clean sweep. On the 5 th of June the Boys netball team played 3 games at Nichols Point. In the first game we won 19 to 0 but in the second game we lost 23 to 5. In the final game we played our best but lost 14 to 8. Our captain was Brodie DS and overall it was a good day and we would like to thank Miss Zoch for taking and coaching us. Netball A The first match we played against Nichols Point B and the score was 18-4 our way. The second match we played was Irymple B and the scores were 30-1 our way. We played in the semi-finals against Irymple A and the scores were 14-7 our way. We got into the grand final and played Nichols Point A. We all played our best but in the end Nichols Point came back and won by 2 points. Thanks to Sheree for coaching. Netball B The first game we played against Nichols Point A team and the scores were 1-27 there way. The next game we played was against Irymple Primary School A team the scores were 16-7 their way again. The third game we played was against Irymple Primary School B team and the scores were 20 to 1 our way. Irymple South Primary School Newsletter - Issue 18, Week 8, Term 2,
