1 September 22nd, 2017 NEWS FROM THE PRINCIPAL Robyn Brooks Responsibility Acceptance Respect Honesty Cooper- Responsibility ation Acceptance Resilience Respect Honesty Cooperation Resilience January 30th, 2015 Issue 30, Week 10, Term 3 It has been another busy and exciting term. The concert this week is the culmination of the dance program that Karen Wilcock has run this term. This program is run every second year and this year was bigger and better than ever! It is very rewarding to watch the smiles on the faces of our students and the enthusiasm they show for dancing and performing. It has been a very big week for students, parents and staff and I thank you all for your contribution to the success of the shows. We believe that programs such as this adds a richness to the variety of experiences we offer our students here at Irymple South. A big thank you to Aleisha Milne for her efficient coordination of the program of the concert and to Emma Lord for her behind the scenes advertising, Facebook posts and program compilation. Concert recording will be available within the next 2 months. After the school holidays, we will have all the details about it and how you will get your copy. School Building & Grounds During the school holidays there will be continued work happening to improve our grounds and facilities: Painters will be in to complete external painting of the office building. Two refrigerated drink stations will be installed on the Room 8 (grade 5H) side wall. Drainage pits will be installed in the area beside room 8 and then it will be repaved after installation of the drink stations New decking will be installed between the staff room and the old toilet block Some trees will be removed to make way for further gardening projects Office: Postal Address: P.O. 3 Thank you... Wow! What an amazing school community we have here at Irymple South Primary school. It is such a privilege to work here and teach your brilliant children. Your support with our concert program is humbling, thank you, for all you have done to make this year s concert a success. A special mention to the following people: Karen Willcock, for her amazing talent in writing, directing and choreographing our whole performance. Plus her huge contribution to our costumes and coordinating the audio/visual control desk. Robyn Brooks for allowing such a worthwhile program to run at our school. Greg Willcock, for his clever engineering of the props including the big books and gorgeous bookworm. Also his expertise with the Arts Centre curtains, microphones and hanging backdrops. The amazing costume coordinators, your help was invaluable. Thank you to Veronica Malia, Peta Campbell, Nichole Bate, Megan Endrizzi, Nerrissa Cupper, Elise Thornton, Narelle Bruhn, Sherrie Geister, Peta Campbell, Leanne Peters, Natasha Lyttleton, Cathy Wilkie, Libby Kennedy, Adele Kempton, Natalee Johnson, Amanda Boulton, Steph Flentjar, Toba Vecchiet, Christa Sheehan, Nat Shirnack, Lea Andronescu, Carmel Tabacco, LeAnne Burford, Connie Aldamiz, Linda Garraway, Sarah Watts, Michelle Stanbrook, Jacey Pisconeri. These mums have donated their time to sort, make, purchase and coordinate over 600 costumes between them which has been a colossal effort. Karen Shore for all the long hours she put into researching the main character costumes, organising their purchase or getting them made. Kerrie Shaw for sewing costumes. Toni Douglas for designing the front cover of the program and Emma Lord for taking photos and creating the program. All the parents who helped organise the costumes during dress rehearsals and performance nights. All the teachers that helped with the transport of costumes, patience during the many rehearsals and for your hard work back stage for all the performances. Every single student for their commitment, perseverance and passion. Watching our students grow in confidence and excitement as they rehearsed and performed was most rewarding. I am proud of the eagerness of our students and school community in coming together for this production. I will be forever richer from being a part of this experience and I hope you are too. All the best performers bring to their role something more, something different than what the author put on paper. That s what makes theatre alive. 8 Girls Boys A BASKETBALL BASKETBALL INTERSCHOOL SPORT On Tuesday the 5/6 girls basketball team went to Nichols Point to play basketball. Our first game we played was against Irymple A team, the scores were 42 to 7 our way. The next game we played against Irymple B team and we won 40 to 2. Our last game was against Nichols Point and the scores were 52 to 0 our way. This means that we go through to the next stage. Thankyou to Mr Allen for setting up all of the structures at school. Those structures held up for us. Thankyou to Mrs Droffelaar for coaching us. We all had a great day and we all played equally as well. On Tuesday we went to Nichols Point Primary School to play Basketball against Irymple and Nichols Point. We played five games. The first game was against the Irymple B team and we won. The second game we played Irymple A and we lost against them. The third game we played the other Irymple South team and we won. For our last game we played Nichols Point. It was a very close game. We were down by 2 and had to get two free throw shots to tie the game up and get in the grand final. Our best players were Cooper and Chace and we would like to thank Mr Allen for coaching us. Boys B BASKETBALL On Tuesday the 5/6 Boys B team went to Nichols Point to play basketball and our first game was against Nichols Point and we lost The second game was against Irymple B and we won The third game was against the other Irymple South team and the score was The fourth game was against Irymple A and we lost The last game was the final and we lost when playing other Irymple South team Girls SOFTBALL This week some Grade 5/6 girls went to Nichols Point to play softball. In the first round, we played Nichols Point. One highlight of the game was when Jordan was running to a base as a player had thrown the ball her way. Instead of getting the ball to their player, the ball hit Jordan on the head. Luckily Jordan had a helmet on. After that game, the scores were 13 to 7 their way. Our star players for that game were Mercesdez, Jordan and Tarliah. The second game was against Irymple. We played hard and had a great time. The scores after the game where 7 to 1 their way. The star players for this game were Jessica and Bridget. Even though we haven t made it to the next level, we are proud of what we have achieved. We would like to thank Mr Smith for coaching us through the games we played and all the fun we had together as a team. Boys SOFTBALL On Tuesday the Boys Softball team played in the Irymple District Finals. We played a round robin against Nichols Point and Irymple. In our round games, we lost one game and won the other two. This put us into the final against Nichols Point PS. We had lost to them in our previous match 9 1 but had improved throughout the day. In a tight contest, we came away with a 2-1 win. We now move through to the Sunraysia Division finals next term. Irymple South Primary School Newsletter - Issue 30, Week 10, Term 3,
