Members are invited to offer solutions and attend the next club meeting where the motion to move the club to 1 formal muster per month will be on the agenda. In particular we feel for the young riders for whom this will impact greatly and we will endeavor to run a fun activity muster once a month also which will be aimed at groups 4-6 riders. Those attending will need to be accompanied by an adult willing and able to assist running the activities. 3 FYI: This letter is the latest correspondence from Bob Millar to Ian Ferrier regarding the soccer Club. Hi Ian, Just following up, belatedly, on your and our earlier meeting at the Club. In the interim I have met with Council officers at the Richards Road grounds to assess what solutions may be possible to improve access across the creek for riders. Some design work is currently under way and hopefully a reasonably cost effective option may be possible to achieve in the short term. The area on the other side of Richards Road has been slashed and I have met onsite with Council s Parks management who are arranging for this area to be included on the regular roadside mowing program. I have also requested Council Traffic Engineers to review current road signage with a view to increasing the awareness of drivers on Richards Road to the activity that takes place around the Pony Club/Soccer precinct. I am advised that signage needs to be compliant with Australian Standards which may restrict the use of other forms of non standard signage. I will also continue to use my Village Pump column to remind drivers and horse riders alike, that we live in an area where the roads/road reserves, from time to time, need to be shared. You will also be aware that I had put in train arrangements for a meeting between yourself, the Stags Rugby League and Samford Rangers presidents to discuss the other issues that you raised when we met. This arrangement appears not now to be necessary following your discussions directly with the Stags Rugby League President Eric Lilley, and I would encourage ongoing discussion as you see fit. On the broader issue that you raised in your opening paragraph, I can only repeat my advice provided at the Pony Club meeting, that no commitment has been made in the short time for the Pony Club to assume any level of occupancy of the soccer fields, however, that interest has long been noted and when an opportunity to engage further on this issue is possible those discussions can take place. As advised the Stags Rugby League Club field is shortly to undergo a long outstanding major refurbishment the outcome of which has necessitated the shared use of the facilities at the Soccer Club, on a basis, and over a period, yet to be fully determined. As promised the extent of usage by the Stags and the Soccer Club (who remain the Lessee), and the opportunities that may emerge in the short term for the Pony Club, will be reviewed in early I understand from Eric Lilley that their requirements will be as I indicated at the meeting, namely touch football and some training and I expect that Eric has been able to clarify this with you. Despite the challenges Council has in meeting the significant interests of its Sport and Recreation groups across the Region, you can be assured that I will continue to offer the Pony Club my support in working towards its future plans for Harold Brown Park. 5 Working bee Hours Anyone with Working bee hours left to do and want their $200 working bee levy returned at the end of the year please contact Ian Ferrier at as there are a few jobs that need attending, The important one being the sanding of jump poles ready to be painted. 7 Samford Oldies Day 20/10/12 All you adults out there, come along and have some fun at our oldies day. We are running 7 novelty events like Horse and Rider challenge, Samford Squeeze and barrels, in the cool of the afternoon and finishing up with a BBQ. This event is organized and run by the Junior Committee and all proceeds go to 2012 committee fundraising for the year. Mark this on your calendar and come and have some fun & support the Junior committee. You can even ride your kids horses! To nominate enter the calendar page on the website and click nominate.
