1 Colonial Country Club September 2013 Newsletter
2 From Our Board President As the summer draws to a close, I want to personally thank each and every one of you who make CCC a great place for fun, food, and fellowship. The last three months have been packed full of activities for the whole family. All of which were very well attended, and hopefully exceeded your expectations. The staff and the board are always looking for suggestions as to ways to improve and add value to your membership. Please don't hesitate to share your ideas of what you would like to see or do here at CCC. With that being said, I want to reiterate that the board meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm. All members are encouraged to attend, if for nothing else but to get a better idea of the day to day activities that go into running your club. This is really the only way for you to fully understand the inner workings of CCC from the financials, to staffing, to golf tournaments, and everything in between. This is a great transition into a few housekeeping items. Your Nominating Committee is ramping up to find folks willing to serve on the club board of directors. Again, what better way to understand all aspects of the club operations than by serving on the club board?? Please see Rex Truell or Brian Fary if you are interested in serving. Secondly, I personally have noticed more and more cigarette butts in our bunkers and on the golf course. If you are a smoker, please dispose of your cigarette butts in the trash cans on every tee box on the course. Let's keep our grounds looking beautiful!!! Finally, I know I sound like a broken record, but we still have members that wait until the end of the month to pay their bill. Remember, your club bill is DUE UPON RECEIPT. This aids in keeping our cash flowing appropriately for all departments in the club. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter. Don't forget, it's not too early to book your Holiday parties! Our banquet calendar is filling up, so call now to reserve your date! See you at the club, Adam Perryman President Board of Directors bod@ccc-nc.com 2013 Board of Directors Adam Perryman, President Mark Akerman, President-Elect, House Chair Robert Blakely, Finance Chair, Long-Range Chair Terry Cromer Katherine DeVore, Tennis Chair Bryan Fary, Membership/Marketing Chair Collins Fulcher, Grounds Chair Dale Grimsley, Secretary, Pool Chair Dan McAnally, Past President Fred Meredith Tommy Rice Brian Skeen Ray Smith, Handicap Chair Greta Stookey Chuck Thrift, Tournament Chair Rex Truell, Treasurer Darrell Wilson Your Staff Mike O Briant, Director of Golf John T. 4 A Note From Our Chef In August the Member Guest tournament was held at CCC and I am happy to report that it was very successful. I would like to thank everyone that attended. I would also like to thank our Management team, the culinary department and services staff for all their hard work during such a busy time. September is here and we have lots of fun and exciting events. Starting with Labor Day, so bring the kids out and celebrate a day filled with fun and games for all to enjoy. We will also have complimentary hot dogs, popcorn and sno cones. Also, come join us on kids night September 11 th which will feature fresh fruit salad, mini corn dogs with dipping sauces, French fries with cheese sauce and steamed broccoli. The kids will love it! We will continue date night in September and as well as all you can eat Thursdays; so don t miss out on a night to remember. On the second Friday of each month we will be featuring an all you can eat Prime Rib & Crab Leg Buffet, so bring the family out and enjoy! Due to the increase in business the culinary staff encourages everyone to make reservations for all upcoming events, this will help make sure that your dining experience is one to remember. As your Chef, I appreciate all the support and comments that members and guest have given as your feedback whether negative or positive is welcomed and encouraged in an effort to improve food and beverage services. We continue to be committed to providing the CCC members with an exceptional dining experience. Again on behalf of culinary department, service staff, and myself we thank you for your continued support and encouragement. Chef Kendrick D. Brunson

13 course.news from the Course Summer is almost over and we still haven t seen any summer heat yet. I am hoping that thru the month of September we will have some warmer days to allow the Champion greens to finish growing in. The golf course renovations for the summer projects are almost complete. The tree crew will be continuing over the next months to eliminate trees around greens to allow for more sunlight and air movement. Don t forget we will be aerfiying greens on Tuesday, September 3 to prepare for the fall and winter months. Next year we will NOT aerify in the spring to allow CCC members to play without disrupting the greens. Please make sure to check your e mail weekly for course renovation updates with pic tures included. Also please send the course renovation updates to your friends to show them what great improvements are happening at CCC. Please repair all ball marks on the greens by inserting the tool and pulling it forward towards the center of the mark and to never use the tool to pry upward. Cigarette butts are trash; please dispose of them properly by using the trash cans located on the golf
