2 Manager s Corner Happy New Year everyone! I hope you and your loved ones had a safe and happy holiday season. The New Year is always exciting and planning is underway to make this year better and more enjoyable for every member. State of the Club Our Members are our greatest asset, existing as well as prospective. As you know, membership is essential to a prosperous club and I believe you are our best source of advertising. We currently have 233 active memberships. Imagine if every member referred just one person this year. Even if only ten or twenty of those folks joined, it would make a huge difference in our cash flow and the future of your club. I issued a challenge to each of you this time last year did you take it to heart and do your best to meet or even exceed it? If so, thank you very much and I lift it up again refer at least one prospective member in 2017! Call or Susan Cruz with the prospect s contact information and she ll take it from there. Your name will be entered in a monthly drawing for a complimentary dinner for two. It will remain in the drawing until it is either selected or year end, so the more referrals you submit, the more chances you have to win! Also, when the prospect joins and is billed their first month s dues, you ll receive a credit on your account equal to one month s dues of the new member. Tell your family and friends that our Winter Membership Special is in progress! They can join now, sign a two-year promissory note and enjoy the Club dues free until March 1, Board and Committees We sincerely appreciate the Board of Directors for their guidance and direction, as well as the Committee members for their support and efforts this past year. Personal time, research, thought and discussion goes into all major decisions to improve our Club. So, the next time you see these folks thank them kindly for their leadership and efforts on behalf of all of us towards the betterment of our Club. There are currently three Board seats to fill, so if you d like to step up and make a difference, now is your chance! Reach out to a current Board member and express your desire to serve. We have a few committee spots to fill as well. This is your opportunity as a member to give input and your input gives the Board direction to run the Club. Following is a list of all committees. Pick one or two that you feel you could benefit and give us a call to participate. Restaurant It s hard to believe a year has passed since Chef Paul joined our club family! I m extremely pleased, as I know you are by your many kind words, with the transformation our restaurant has undergone during this time. He has gathered around him a very competent, caring staff whose goal is to make each of your visits a memorable occasion. Paul reached out and partners with local farms, taking advantage of

3 the freshest produce and ingredients available, to create savory new seasonal dishes along with traditional favorites. On January 17 th, we will have our Grand Re-Opening of the restaurant and will introduce our new menu at that time. Golf Course We continue to work with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality on our recent diesel fuel leak and thankfully the cleanup project is going very well. Cost to the club is anticipated to be minimal due to assistance provided through the state s clean-up fund. Jimmy and his crew have begun winter maintenance on all golf course equipment. The Bermuda grass has begun to go dormant on the fairways thanks to all for staying on the cart paths your cooperation has been noticed and is greatly appreciated. Closing With the leadership and support of the Board and Committees, as well as your participation and determination to better your club, the staff and I believe we can make 2017 one of the best years yet! Happy New Year to all of you! 2017 brings lots of promise in terms of new members. As part of your New Year s resolution, we challenge each and every one of you to bring in a prospective member. Just contact me so we can arrange a very special day/evening. We are counting on your support! December was filled with so much holiday cheer. The events were well attended and enjoyed by all! We received very positive feedback. Be sure to sign up for future events so you can join in on the fun. The Membership Committee is still looking for some new members. Our next meeting is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25 th. We would love to hear some of your thoughts on recruiting new members. Please support your Club and join a committee. Elections for the Country Club of Culpeper Board of Directors will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at 3 p.m. at the Annual Meeting. Anyone interested in running for the Board should contact the Business Office at to pick up a petition. All nominations and petitions must be submitted to the Business Office by 5 p.m. on Friday, February 10, Clubhouse Re-Opens at 11:30 a.m. *Business Office will be open regular hours during the month of January.

On Mondays, if the weather man is projecting that the temperature is not going to be above 50 degrees for the day, then the Golf Shop will be CLOSED.

Please call the Golf Shop at to reserve your tee times. Reserving a tee time is the best way to be able to play at the time you want. On Mondays, if the weather man is projecting that the temperature is not going to be above 50 degrees for the day, then the Golf Shop will be CLOSED. Remember to check the Golf Shop for weather updates, as frost can delay the course opening time. Please call for the most up-to-date closings and for course conditions. Our Bermuda grass in the fairways is now dormant. At this time, we want to have as little cart traffic on the fairways as possible so we don t harm the Bermuda. Carts should be kept in the rough then cross over at a 90 degree angle to get to your ball. This process will make our fairways much stronger next spring. Let s take care of our course by following the fairway rules and if you see someone in the wrong place, kindly remind them of where they should be, or call the Golf Shop.
