2 From Our Board President September Club Report We have had a great summer! Thanks to Ben and Wes for their hard work. They have brought in several tournaments and showed off our beautiful golf course. David and his staff are doing a magnificent job making Colonial the place to dine and hang out with friends. Please consider Colonial when you dine out. Jeff has a super menu at a reasonable cost. Let us know of your experience at the club, good or bad. This will help us improve, and you will get the quality you want and deserve. The golf course is as good or much better than most. Please let T or Ben know your thoughts in this matter. We are getting compliments at every golf outing. This will help with our overhead and will lead to getting new members. Please congratulate Bob Wilson and Sook Hee Yang on winning our club championship. We have the Senior Championship and the 19 man coming up, which is one of our best tournaments of the year. Thanks to all the board members that put in their time and talent to make us the best. In closing, thanks to all our members, without you, we have nothing. Thanks, Lanny Jarrell Club President

3 From Our General Manager It is hard to believe the summer is ending. Hopefully, that means the cooler weather will be here soon. It has been a great summer at the Club with all the events that we have had and we plan to continue the fun through the fall and into the winter months. T Dawson has been doing a great job at making the golf course the best it can be and through the fall he will be preparing the course for the winter months. Ben has been doing a great job in the golf shop and is working on plans for the Fall Men s Member-Member and the last few events for the year. Stop by the golf shop as Ben is always having a sale or see what is new in the shop. Kim Dillard is keeping busy on the tennis courts. if you have been thinking about tennis, stop by and see him. He is working on increasing the tennis program and through the winter months he will be working on the 2017 schedule. We are planning many fun events for the fall. We will have entertainment in the bar once a month. We are working on the next craft beer dinner, which has been a success. We will have a Panthers kickoff party on Thursday, September 8 th. I will be setting up the kid s haunted house again this year as it has become a fun time for the kids to dress up in their costumes. We are working on several events for the Christmas Holidays. With the Holiday season coming up, please call Holly Calvert to check availability. December is always a busy time, so make sure you get the date and time you are looking for. Normally this time of year slows down for membership growth, but we will be working hard at attracting several new families to the Club, as Colonial has a lot to offer and is a very welcoming Club. The membership committee will be working on ideas for next year, so keep a look out for them. We have been doing some minor repairs around the Club, if you see something that needs attention please let me know and I will address it. 15 Summer is almost over but the golf course is still growing and the golf course maintenance staff is still rapidly mowing all areas on the golf course weekly. This past August 15th, marks two years from the time we opened back up from the renovation. Over the last two years, the golf course has matured and healed some, but this will takes a few more years to complete where we have sodded and repaired any areas of winter kill. Please be advised that over the next two months we will be increasing our mowing heights to protect the Bermuda grass as we prepare for it to go dormant for the winter. You may encounter some areas that look puffy or uncut due to this reason. In the upcoming months, we will continue to install cobblestone rocks around some cart-path edges that have been worn down by cart traffic. Also, I will start marking trees on the golf course with orange tape that have died over the last year. These trees will be cut in the winter months and we will grind the stumps and fill with dirt to allow the grass to grow back over. These small touches will keep CCC looking sharp. I look forward to seeing everyone on the golf course very soon! Thanks, John T. Dawson, GCS and Birdie

16 2016 Ladies 50th Invitational The Colonial Country Club Ladies Golf Association would like to thank everyone that made our 50 th Invitational Tournament a huge success. Sixty-three ladies from NC and other states played on August 5-7 th. Our champion was Julie Streng of Greensboro, a former Stanford player. She and Sook Hee Yang were tied after 36 holes of stroke play at 150. They remained tied on the 1st 2 holes of a sudden death playoff, with Streng edging Yang with a par putt on #3.
