2 From Our Board President Wow, what a difference a month makes no more ninety degree temperatures. Welcome to Fall at Colonial! Hopefully the rain will subside soon. With this me of year comes the perfect weather to get in a round of golf or a couple of matches on the tennis courts. It is a great me of the year to take advantage of everything our club has to offer and enjoy the beauty of Colonial. Chef Jeff and his team have created a new fall menu, complete with some really unique desserts. Make plans to enjoy soon. It is also football season again so please plan to come out to the club to watch your favorite team. October golf events includes two couple s events with the couple s club championship as well as the couple s member guest. Remember, as always, your Board is available for any comments and sugges ons. This is your Club and we will con nue to do what we can to make Colonial Country Club the best club for the value. 3 From Our House Manager Well the Fall is upon us and the weather is changing, but this is still a great time of year to play golf and be at the Club. We are working on a lot of fun events for the next couple of months for your enjoyment. We have planned an Adult Halloween Party on October, 30 th, so I expect everyone to be thinking of a great costume to wear and we also will be having a Children s Halloween Party with Haunted House on Saturday, October 31 st. Tiffany Hemrick has been doing a great job with the massage sessions and the Members that have come have been pleased and keep coming back. We offer sessions on Wednesday and Saturday s each week. Schedules are ed out weekly for you to make an appointment. We plan to start fitness classes again beginning in November. With daylight savings this will be a great time to come to the Club for a little exercise and conditioning. The Holiday season is also fast approaching, so if you are thinking about booking a party please contact Holly Calvert to make all the arrangements. Colonial is a great place to have an event and make memories. Even with the fall weather coming there is still plenty of golf ahead so this is a great time to get new Members in the Club. Not only are there still plenty of golf days ahead but there will be plenty of activities and events for them at the Club. So if you know someone who has been thinking about joining, bring them by the Club for a tour, or refer them to the office so we can explain the benefits of becoming a member. Colonial is a great place and building the Membership will only make it better. Thank you for all of your support! 10 News From Chef Hi Folks! Well it s that me of year, the leaves are changing colors, the nights are cooler, and everything is soaking wet as of right now but here in the kitchen we are dry and warming up! Like the leaves we are also changing, with the season your NEW LUNCH and DINNER MENUS are coming and hopefully it will be a change that you enjoy! As always some of the favorites will s ll be there but don t let that stop you from trying out the new Favorites. In This autumn month, we have a lot for you to be excited about! As last year was our very first year doing the haunted house and with Mr. Dave at the helm it will be be er this year. But this year we get the chance to have Halloween on a Saturday! So the adults come out for our Adult only Halloween Party on Friday the 30 th and then bring the kiddos out the next day for lunch before you go out trick or trea ng! With Cooler Temperatures, come in a er a long hard day at the office and enjoy a warm drink and hot food on Fridays with our Member Mixer. On Friday the 16 th treat yourself to Prime Rib and Alaskan Crab Legs! All you can eat with plenty of sides and Desserts to go with it! 12 As fall begins to approach us there are several turf care prepara ons that will be happening over the next month. As our new greens prepare for their second winter we will start gradually raising the height of the grass to ensure enough plant canopy for the winter. One result of doing this is slower green speeds for the next couple of months. We will con nue to roll the greens very o en so they stay very smooth and roll true. Also we will increase the mowing heights of the fairways, tees and approaches to prepare for the winter as well. We have over seeded the driving range tees which will ensure some turf through the winter months. Below is a picture of a pa ern of divots.
