2 From Our Board President Well it seems that another year has gone by when we have skipped fall and gone straight from summer to winter. I know many of you welcome the cooler temperatures, but I hate to see the grass turn dormant and brown. With that said, Addison and his staff have the golf course in pristine condition and ready for whatever Mother Nature brings us this winter. As many of you know we had significant damage from tropical storm Michael. We lost multiple trees on the golf course as well as the pool awning being blown off the building. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those members whose homes were damaged in the storm as well. Special thanks to Jimmy Armentrout, Herb Young, and Joe Keveryn for their hard work helping Addison and his staff clear the tree that blocked the road between 13 and 14. Our insurance company came out to survey the damage and wrote us a claim check on the spot. We will be working hard to fix all the problems that Michael caused in the days and weeks to come. At the October Board meeting, the board voted again to repair our old dining room chairs. We are lucky to have many members in the furniture industry who are willing to share their advice and expertise on this project. The chairs will be completely disassembled and then put back together to ensure a sturdy chair that will last us for years to come. It will be nice to have matching chairs. Special thanks to Scotty Hill, Joe Keveryn, Steve Cothran and Jeff Rains for their donation of time and goods for this project. There is a chair in the dining room that is a sample of their work, and it looks wonderful! Be sure to check it out and thank these members for their time and hard work on this project. As many of you have heard, Richard Childress sold Sapona Ridge to an individual that promptly closed the course. Many rumors are floating around that suggest that a group of their members have purchased the golf course back. Time will tell what the outcome will be with the course. Dan Outlaw and David Lehman have worked to put together a membership package for the Sapona Ridge members that waives initiation fees and offers some great membership specials. In addition to these specials, we are offering incentives to the CCC staff, as well as our members, for sponsoring a new member through December 31. Sponsor a full member, and you will get a $200 bill credit. Sponsor a social, junior or senior member and get a $75 bill credit. There are no limits to the number of new members you can sponsor, so reach out to your friends at Sapona, or any other neighboring club, and encourage them to join Colonial! A couple of members have brought to my attention some problems entering and exiting the club and being nearly run off the road in the curves. I would ask everyone to please obey the posted speed limit signs and be extra cautious in the dangerous curves around the lakes. See you at the club!

3 From Our General Manager Well, I think the fall weather is now here. Hurricane Michael seems to have brought the cooler weather to us. Hurricane Michael did a little bit of damage on the golf course and swimming pool, but fortunately is was not much worse. Some of the houses in the neighborhood got hit hard and it will take a while to repair all the damages. Addison and his staff are doing a great job cleaning up from the storm and with the help of a few of our members they had a little extra help. Christmas is only a month away so if you are thinking about hosting a Holiday Party for either personal or business purposes, give Delany Hart a call and she can help with all the arrangements. December is always a busy month, so go ahead and make your plans now. With the winter season coming soon, Addison will start prepping the golf course for the winter. A lot of preparation goes into this to make sure the course does well with the colder weather. There are still a couple more golf events left in the year, we have the 19-man tournament coming up and then the turkey tournament right before Thanksgiving. Even though the colder weather is upon us, there is still plenty of great days to play golf. We are looking at options for a New Year s Eve Party and are trying to decide whether to have a band or DJ and type of menu. If you would like to spend New Year s Eve at the Club and would plan to attend, let us know what you would like to see. The renovations to the Club are about done and the Club looks great. Types of Massage Sports Massage- This deals with injuries or tight muscles that are related to any type of activity. It can help the body recover more quickly from an event or help performance during an event. Deep Tissue Massage- This deals with the deeper layers of the muscles. Can be used when there are tight muscles or pain in a specific area. Swedish Massage- Usually a full body massage designed to promote relaxation and helping to flush toxins out of the body. Oncology Massage- This deals with clients who have or have had cancer and cancer treatments. Special precautions are needed when dealing with this clientele. Pre-natal Massage- This is for females who are pregnant. It is very relaxing and helps to release tight muscles associated with pregnancy. Therapeutic Massage- This encompasses many different modalities that will help the client feel better, release tight muscles, flush out toxins and provide a general sense of well-being. 20 Men s Member-Member Congratulations to Mark Dula and Shorty Kimmons for winning our Fall Men s Member-Member. They defeated Mark Akerman and Robert Blakely on the final hole in the shootout with a birdie. There, we will keep your clubs clean and we will load and unload them when you come out for golf. We offer push cart storage as well.. Locker Rental As a colonial member, you have the opportunity to rent a full or half locker. These lockers are very convenient to be able to store your personal belongings. All lockers are clean and have plenty of room for your clothes, shoes, and accessories. Over the summer, it is nice to keep a swim suit and towel in. 25 As we head into November, the cool temperatures have slowed the bermudagrass down to a halt. With the grass slowly going dormant, it will not be able to heal itself from damage so it is important to abide by the 90 degree rule and keep carts at least 30 yards from greens. A lot of winter traffic on dormant bermudagrass can lead to winter kill the following spring and summer so please do your part in helping prevent against this. It is also important to repair ball marks and fill in divots during this dormant period because again, the grass is not able to grow and heal itself. We have recently completed our overseeding of the range tees, so while those are growing in please do your best to stay off of them. Due to the tournament schedule, we were a little later than usual getting the ryegrass out, and thus the establishment period may take a little longer due to the cooler temperatures. As most of you know, the golf course suffered considerable damage from Hurricane Michael, with multiple trees down and limbs and debris scattered about but we have been working hard to get everything cleaned up and back to normal. I would like to thank my grounds chair Herb Young and also Jim Armentrout, and Joe Keveryn for their help with the removal of the large tree on 14. With the cooler weather, we are no longer mowing so we will turn our attention to leaf removal and other projects. We have several projects we are looking forward to crossing off the list this fall/winter with drainage, bunker detail, and tree work being at the forefront.
