2 From Our Board President Whew! The holidays are behind us. Hope yours was as blessed and joyous as mine. The club was decorated beautifully, and all the events were a huge success. Thank you for Being a Member and supporting the Club. Thanks to our staff who worked many hours, so we could enjoy those events The results are in. We have elected our five new board members for the 2018 year. The new board and officers will be made official at our annual meeting scheduled for January 8 th. A lot of information will be shared and decisions made at that meeting. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the 2017 board members for their attendance, service on committees, and support this year. Much was accomplished with a good team and hard work. We are already looking forward to a great year under Bryan Fary s leadership as President. Colonial Country Club will be celebrating its 60 th anniversary in Come help us plan those celebrations and activities. Be a Member! Don t forget our Winter Membership Drive is still on. One more month to go! Get a Member! As you can see, our landscaping outside the clubhouse is in serious need of repair and replacement. Our CCC Landscape Drawing will raise the money to get the job done! Buy one square for $50.00 or buy two for $ and get one sleeve of golf balls of your choice. The prizes are golf clubs, driver, bag, a range membership, and much more. Help us improve the image of the clubhouse by buying a square or two (or 10) and win a prize too. This is my last Letter from the President for the newsletter. I am humbled to have served this year. I have learned that so many members have a sincere love and passion for Colonial as do I. I pledge to support Bryan Fary as I serve as Past President. I am excited to be a part of Colonial s 60 th Anniversary and look forward to a prosperous Happy New Year!! Bob Roney Club President

From Our General Manager It is a New Year. That means the beginning of new and big things. 2018 marks the 60th anniversary of Colonial Country Club.

3 From Our General Manager It is a New Year. That means the beginning of new and big things marks the 60th anniversary of Colonial Country Club. During 2018 year we will pay tribute to the past 60 years, we are working a special membership campaign, a 60th anniversary party, dinner specials, etc. If you would like to be on a special committee to help with the membership campaign, please contact me and let me know. The annual membership meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 8th at 7:00pm. We will announce the new board members coming on and recognize the ones coming off. We will also discuss ideas to make improvements to the Club House this coming year. The board recognizes the need to do a few updates to the Club House and is looking at ways to do so. Even though we are in the colder months, there is still plenty of activity at the Club. The blue-plate specials on Wednesday nights continue to be a popular night, we will have breakfast for dinner with bingo, wine & design, crab leg buffet, etc. There will be lots to do, so check the newsletter for all the details. Ben Miller and Kim Dillard will keep us informed of the playing conditions for both golf and tennis. As we know with North Carolina weather, we can always have a warm spell this time of year. Let s make 2018 a great year! There, we will keep your clubs clean and we will load and unload them when you come out for golf. We also offer push cart storage as well. 17 Golf News Landscape Drawing We have 100 squares the we are selling at $50 a square to update all of the landscape around our beautiful club house. If you purchase $100 or more in squares then you will receive two free sleeves of your choice of golf balls. Once we sell all 100 squares we will draw 10 different prizes with the top prize being a set of custom fit irons valued at $700. Protect the Greens With the winter months upon us please help us to protect our greens by not driving your cart close to it. The recommended range to drive around the Greens is 50 feet away. Please help us so that we can keep them looking the best throughout the winter months and into next summer. Also please remember to fix your ball marks and sand your divots. Guest Fees through winter Through the months of December, January and February we will not be having guest days. Instead we will we offering special pricing Tuesday-Friday guest fees will only be $30. Saturday and Sunday Guest fees will be $30 after 12pm.

Between the Members and staff I truly believe CCC is the greatest club around and I am proud and honored to be your Director of Golf.

January is upon us and I hope everyone had a great Christmas with their families to close out 2017. As 2018 arrives, it will be bringing in some extremely cold weather.

With the greens being covered, it gives us time to work on various projects around the course and maintenance shop.

We have also replaced a catch basin behind the number 5 green that had caved in.

19 January is upon us and I hope everyone had a great Christmas with their families to close out As 2018 arrives, it will be bringing in some extremely cold weather. We had to put the covers on the greens the day after Christmas and it looks like they will stay on for a couple weeks. With the greens being covered, it gives us time to work on various projects around the course and maintenance shop. We have taken out all the dead trees and grinded up the stumps on the course, and we will sod these areas in the spring when the temperatures are ideal for bermudagrass growth. We have also replaced a catch basin behind the number 5 green that had caved in. The aquatic weeds around the lakes have been cut down, and we are currently working on cutting back all of the ornamental grasses around the course. Some other projects we will be working on in the near future include: new drainage on the right of the number 11 green feeding into the existing basin in the approach, fixing the drainage issue behind the cart barn leading towards the number 13 tee, cutting down all of the brush on the dams, patching a few places in cart paths, working on bunker detail, and much more. These projects will keep us busy for the rest of the offseason, and hopefully the warmer weather will arrive early. Please make sure that you are repairing ball marks and filling divots when you are playing this winter! Thank you all for a great 2017 and I m looking forward to another great year at the Club.
