Jeans, cutoffs, gym shorts, and tee shirts are not allowed. Tennis shoes and golf shoes with soft spikes are appropriate. The snow was beautiful on the course! We also encourage a no cell phone policy in the clubhouse. Cell phone use is acceptable outside of the clubhouse and in the locker rooms. Ask us about the Unlimited Cart Plan! We have partnered with The Wellness Center in Macon to offer our members access to the facility at a discounted price! For $29/month per member, you can keep up with your health and wellness! Our members have access to Green Valley Clubs at a discounted rate: $22 on weekdays and $30 on weekends. The Golf Shop can call and make tee times on your behalf. 5 Golf News & Events From the Head Pro I hope everyone has had a great holiday season and a wonderful start to your New Year! I m sure everyone has made some resolutions for 2018 and I m positive quite a few of them involve golf (playing more and better) and/or weight loss. Luckily these two goals can be achieved together. One of the best ways to get exercise is by walking the course while you play. Now, I know some people have lots of excess supplies in their bags that prevent them from carrying them, but not to fear, the Brickyard does have the newest pull carts from Clic Gear which can hold any size golf bag no matter how much you stuff into it. Using these also help out when we may be Cart Path Only and you do not want to walk back and forth from your cart with club(s)/sand bottles/range finders, etc. while not keeping you from playing a day after it rains. With the weather being unpredictable this time of year, setting up a good practice schedule is hard to do. You can do a few stretches at home to help your game while the weather may not be perfect. A couple of good ones are: putting a club across your back/shoulders and working on making a proper turn back and thru in a controlled motion. Also, you can practice your swing in the doorway of your bedroom or any room in your house. Place your lead foot (left foot for right handers and right foot for left handers) up against the edge of the door frame, cross your arms on your chest and mimic a golf swing without bumping into the door frame. 6 Super Bowl LII Party!! Golf News & Events Come join us February 4th following the Super Bowl Par 3 tournament for a Super Bowl Party!! It will begin at 6pm. We will be serving light hors d oeuvres as well as drinks while you cheer on your favorite team! Congrats to Howard Simms on his hole in one in January!! Fridays! Join us on Friday nights in February for! From 5pm-8pm, we will have a themed buffet for $6/person along with half priced drinks! At the end of the night, we will also do a drawing for a $100 credit towards membership dues and a drawing for a free bar tab! The club will be meeting Tuesday, February 20th at 5:30pm. It is open to all Brickyard members!! A Long Way Home: A Memoir by Saroo Brierley When Saroo Brierley used Google Earth to find his long lost home town half a world away, he made global headlines. Saroo had become lost on a train in India at the age of five. Not knowing the name of his family or where he was from, he survived for weeks on the streets of Kolkata, before being taken into an orphanage and adopted by a couple in Australia. Despite being happy in the new family, Saroo always wondered about his origins. He spent hours staring at the map of India on his bedroom wall. When he was a young man, the advent of Google Earth led him to pore over satellite images of the country for landmarks he recognized. And one day, after years of searching, he miraculously found what he was looking for. Then he set of on a journey to find his mother.
