For the safety of our members and their guests, when lightning is within a 5 mile radius, the siren will sound letting everyone on the premises know that the course and pool will be closed at that time. Everyone must leave the course and pool area once the siren has been sounded. The clubhouse is your safe haven. Thank you for your cooperation during this season. Please keep our dress code in mind for the Golf, Range & the Club House Collared shirts and golf shorts or pants are required. Jeans, cutoffs, gym shorts, and tee shirts are not allowed. Tennis shoes and golf shoes with soft spikes are appropriate. A no cell phone policy is encouraged in the clubhouse. Cell phone use is acceptable outside of the clubhouse and in the locker rooms. During National Golf Month in August, golfers are encouraged to share their experience and bring new golfers to the greens. Whether played as a team sport or individual, National Golf Month challenges us to take the time to show someone new to the sport everything they need to know to get started. Whether it s just addressing the tee or putting or picking the right club, every new golfer needs someone to guide them along the way. Be a mentor to a new golfer. Introduce them to the fairway and the hazards. Help them keep score and don t be too rough. They might be a little green, but in a short while, they might just be on par! 2

There is a $5 fee for all other guests. 3

5 Golf News & Events From The Pro I hope everyone had a chance to watch The Open Championship at Carnoustie. Jordan Spieth had the 54-hole lead, Tiger Woods made a charge but in the end Francesco Molinari came away with the Claret Jug. Molinari has one of the simplest and most repeatable swings on either Tour and we all can learn a lot from him. Francesco starts with a good simple setup and manages to repeat his swing by simply turning back and thru with minimal wasted movement (see pictures below). If you can minimize the amount of movement in the body you can start to build a repeatable swing like The Open Champion. There will be a drawing for a $100 credit towards membership dues and a drawing for a free bar tab! 7 Golf News & Events Golf Superintendent Briane Faletto This summer has been quite a challenge for the Golf Maintenance Department. We have never had a more challenging summer when it comes to keeping up with the mowing of the rough and fairways. The amount of rainfall and the in-opportune timing has kept us on our toes. Thank you for being so understanding and patient with us as we try to keep the rough and fairways mown. We have already seen more rain this year through July than we get in most full years. Here are the rainfall totals: Rain January-July May-July inches 6.2 inches inches inches inches inches We have made some improvements to the course in the last month. We had all the stumps ground down and we have those areas cleaned up. We also laid a lot of sod in some areas to improve the playability. New sod is on #8, #11, #12, and #17. We are working to clean up the chordgrass in the outer-lying areas and along the creeks. I have been spraying the areas where we have had some Kylinga break through. The greens are in good health as we keep doing our weekly surface management to them. We have finally been able to get the intermediate rough cut along the fairways to give a little more relief from the rough. Hope to see you on the course!!! If you are not participating in the event, contact the Pro Shop for tee times at our golf courses that offer reciprocity play. 6

8 Drive, Chip & Putt Club News & Events Brickyard member, Tristan Bennett, participated in the PGA Drive, Chip & Putt competition on Monday, July 23rd, 2018 at Idle Hour G & CC. Tristan, 8 years old, came in 3rd place in the Chip portion of the skills competition and 6th place overall out of 42 boys in the 7 to 9 year old group. Tristan scored points with 2 out of 3 balls in all three skills contest, just missing the podium by one shot. Congratulations to Tristan and thanks to Zac for working with him and all the other youth at the Brickyard Golf Club. Submitted by Vicki & Doug Senn Dues Payment Policy Payments on membership accounts are due by the 10th of each month. Any unpaid account at the end of each month will incur a finance charge of 1.5% of the total balance due and a $25.00 late fee will be billed to your account. If accounts are 60 days past due, the club shall suspend the members charging privileges. If accounts are 90 days past due, the club has the right to terminate the membership. There is a policy that No Personal Coolers are allowed. If you like to enjoy beverages while you are on the course or at the pool, the Club will provide you with a Brickyard cooler at no charge.
